13.01.2022 What you need to know about your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) The VIN is a unique 17 character serial number used to identify a motor vehicle. If a motor vehicle has a VIN, then a registration or a search for that motor vehicle on the PPSR should be made against that VIN.... Age of Vehicle: In most cases the serial number of a vehicle built after 1989 will be the vehicle identification number (VIN). This is not the number plate (registration/rego) number. Structure of VIN: A VIN can only be made up of the following characters: 0-9, A-Z (uppercase) excluding letters I, O and Q, Location of VIN: The VIN generally can be located on the body of the vehicle, under the bonnet, at the bottom of the windscreen on the passenger side, or along the drivers side door closure area. 02.01.2022 Do you know how motor vehicle insurance claims work? Let us share with you... 1. Accident / damage occurs... 2. Owner lodges a claim with their insurer - including a description of the accident and damage 3. We prepare an itemised estimate, based on the vehicle damage that is consistent with the accident damage description given to the insurer. We liaise with the vehicle manufacturers to obtain parts information and if necessary, engineer repair methods. 4. We submit the estimate electronically with all vehicle photos & information, directly to the insurer on the owners behalf 5. Insurer does a desktop assessment reviewing the photos & estimate based on owners accident description. If the insurer cant see damage clearly in the photos or they dont believe it is consistent with the accident, they will decline those items in the repair authority. Assessors are also know for cutting down the cost of repairs / time allowed to do a quality repair, changing what sort of parts we have estimated (genuine, used, non genuine) and changing how to repair the vehicle These all cause obstacles in our industry. 6. Once we receive the altered repair authority, we can book the owner for repairs. 7. Often the items the assessor disallowed results in additional parts or repair being required once the vehicle is onsite We are doing our best to support our local community; who we believe should have the opportunity to attend a repairer who not only cares but seeks to constantly improve in offering an exceptional customer service experience. #supportlocal #supportsmallbusiness #launceston #tasmania #carrepair #accidentrepair #insuranceclaims #exceptionalcustomerservice
