16.01.2022 SUNDAY/ISO DAY 4: (COS ITS ALL BACK TO NORMAL NOW!) 'Leave it!' This skill is so important for spills of food, toys, medication and other nasties that our pets should not be ingesting. We see accidental ingestion of these types of items often, and anything we can do to lessen the incidence of this is so valuable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWdU5Hgdtmc

14.01.2022 DARLING DUKE Duke is an adorable little Labradoodle who slipped while chasing a ball and sustained a right hip luxation! (Dislocated hip). Hip luxation's are diagnosed with radiographs and can often be corrected while under a simple general anesthetic. However, if there is significant damage to the joint capsule, surgery is required to secure the hip to stop it from continuing to displace. Duke was seen by Dr Emma who performed a hip toggle procedure, which is expected to b...e curative. Radiographs after surgery show Duke’s hip completely back where it should be, so now he’s now a happy pupper! We don’t think he’ll be chasing balls any time soon :)

11.01.2022 ISO DAY 3: Here is our tip for today - Snuffle Matts! Snuffle Matts can be made at home, like Dr Jenny did for little Joey recently.... Dr Jenny mentioned how much she enjoyed making the matt, she had her children get involved and it became a fun project over the course of a weekend for everyone. Search YouTube for some fun ideas to make this at home! We would love to see some photos of your finished projects at home

11.01.2022 Thankyou to the very talented Lee's Cakes for a brilliant pick me up! 'Dont Worry, Be Happy!'

10.01.2022 IT'S BABY BIRD SEASON! We are getting so many little babies bought into the clinic over the past few weeks, and many of them haven't needed to be removed form their environment. A friendly reminder to call us before you bring a baby bird in so we can assess the situation over the phone and get the best outcome for these little darlings. ... As always, if you find injured wildlife, please bring them in to see us for treatment - it's free and we really enjoy helping our native wildlife during their time of need.

09.01.2022 SAY HELLO TO ANNE CROUCH! Although she has always been part of the Gawler Animal Hospital team by marriage, Anne has joined the day to day operations of the clinic to support Dr Steve in his transition to full owner. We are loving her enthusiasm, drive and passion for how we operate, and are already enjoying her positive influence in the clinic. You will see her speeding around the clinic getting a bunch of jobs done, and often at reception getting to know our clients.... Next time you see her, don't be shy and say 'Hi!' to Anne! https://www.gawlervets.com.au/2020/11/04/anne-crouch/

08.01.2022 FEELIN' HOT HOT HOT! The weather in SA at the moment is toasty, which can make things very uncomfortable for our pets. Those affected the most are our flat faced and elderly friends, so please make allowances wherever possible for them to be inside. Keep cool everyone
