25.01.2022 Australia Day 2020 saw us perform at Tuckerberry Hill blueberry farm restaurant, along with several other very talented artists. Following "Just Phil & Carl" is always a challenge...the guitar, violin and vocals are spellbinding. We came up with 8 Aussie songs from artist like Sara Storer x 2, John Williamson x 2, The Seekers, & Lee Kernaghan. The day was organised and compered by the very talented Jill Meehan and she provided the sound gear up there as usual at Tuckerberry. Thanks for the invite Jill, to what was a successful and entertaining day once more at Tuckerberry.
24.01.2022 Thursday 27th Feb saw us back at RockOCashell doing a 20 minute set in Lukey Lukes Open Mic Night. We got a few giggles out of Tony's comedy act, and enjoyed the other acts that included Jason, Laurie and Foggy. Great to see old mate Wayne turn up for some support after not having caught up for 5 years. We put together a different set that included Rattlin Bones (Kasey Chambers & Shane), Blank Space (Taylor Swift), This Aint No Love Song (Trace Atkins), Star Of The Show(Thomas Rhett), You've Got A Friend (Carole King). Always great bar service thanks guys, just need more people along to experience all the acts and the service. We are back there again on March 12.
24.01.2022 Rock O Cashel in the middle of downtown Geelong was the venue last night (7/11/2019). We squeezed 6 songs into our 20 minute set that included two more new songs from us being "We Were" by Keith Urban, and "My Favourite Hurricane" from the series Nashville, plus "Travelling Soldier" by Dixie Chicks, "When You Say Nothing At All" by various, "Our Backyard" by Amber Lawrence and Trav Collins, and "Need You Now" by Lady Antebellum. Another small crowd that consisted mainly of other artists that performed on what was a varied, and excellent night of entertainment, so it was a shame more of the general public did not attend. Great sound again Lukey.
21.01.2022 Yep. It's for real. We are on at 8.30pm at the Black Hatt tonight. Nerves...what nerves!!
19.01.2022 The afternoon of Sunday Nov 15 saw us return to music at Tuckerberry blueberry farm restaurant. A big thanks to Jill, Ian (southern Light) Zerk and the farm for putting this on for no les than 15 acts. We played and sang "Under the Boardwalk" by the Drifters, "Beer Can't Fix" by Thomas Rhett, and "You're So Vain" by Carly Simon. We experienced an unusual 30+ degree day (hence the shorts) but really enjoyed the afternoon and the entertainment. Great sound from Ian.
19.01.2022 Tuesday 9th July 2019 was another performance at the Barking Dog. We were privileged to be performing on a night that had so many great artists on stage. With the last load done from Glenreagh, and in fact 2 trips up and back in June (over 10,000 kms in the Camper) we had little time to prepare and fell back on some "oldies but goodies" for us, and sang "Fly" by Maddie and Tae," I Met A Girl" by William Michael Morgan, "Need You Now" - Lady Antebellum, " and "Lately" from the Nashville series. Great night of entertainment thanks Lukey.
17.01.2022 Tonight we are back on at Rock O Cashells performing at another of Lukey's Open Mic Nights. Two weeks ago we performed there for the first time singing "Talk You Out Of It" by Florida Georgia Line, "Under The Boardwalk"- Drifters and "Speak to Me" from Clare Bowen (Scarlett in Nashville). Very much looking forward to tonight when we will perform two songs with our friends Sandy and Clive, and then sing "I Lived It" by Blake Shelton, and "Landslide" by Dixie Chicks.
16.01.2022 Back at The Barking Dog Tuesday 5th Nov to perform "Shotgun" by Christina Aguliera, "Sunshine & Summerwine" by GaznJewels (whoever they are!?), "Love Is War" from American Young, "A Little More You" by Little Big Town, and "Sail Away" by Ashleigh Dallas. A small but attentive crowd to hear us do 2 brand new songs for us amongst the five we sang. Thanks Lukey.
16.01.2022 Feb 19 2020 It has been 4 years since we last played at Beav's Bar. We did a 30 minute spot to open Lukey's 1st (but not last) show there with our set including Follow Your Arrow (Kasey Musgraves), Chicken Fried (Zac Brown) Cowboy Take Me Away (Dixie Chicks) I Just Can't Help Believing (BJ Thomas) Back Outback (Sara Storer) I'm Just Talking About Tonite {Toby Keith) Need You Now {Lady Antebellum). The acts all provided great entertainment that night, Another Lukey success!!
15.01.2022 January 17 2020 was our second visit to the Geelong Naval Club, only this time we were a couple of "Possum On The Porch's" PESTS. We sang 5 songs that included Blue Bayou, One Man Band by Old Dominion, Follow Your Arrow, and Butterflies by Kasey Musgraves, and Old Farts and Caravan Parks by John Williamson. All 5 acts on the night did a great job entertaining, including our great mate Daryl Maher who was holidaying with us together with his wife Gail. Actually, I can honestly say he may have upstaged the Possums.....and that takes some doing!
13.01.2022 Back at the RockOCashel for our first 2020 gig, only this time as a threesome with Daryl Maher. Several years ago we did some busking with Daryl in Casino NSW, as the "Chocoholics" (formed one Easter). We performed 5 songs together, from artists like Little Big Town, Darius Rucker and Alan Jackson. We had a great time, on an entertaining night.
12.01.2022 So, following an invite received through our GaznJewels facebook page, we are going to The Black Hatt Hotel, Geelong, next Friday night to do a one hour set from 8.30pm. They are again running their "Battle of the Bands" contest. Voting seems to be by the audience...the more drinks you buy the more votes you get...ingenious way to get friends and followers along I guess. It will be a Challenge for us......and we like those.
12.01.2022 Last night (Feb 13, 2020) saw us on stage at Lukey Luke's RockOCashell OMN. We squeezed 6 songs into our 20 minute set. Always a pleasure to have Lukey setting up the sound...thanks mate...really looking forward to your finished album. Many thanks to those who stayed for our set, and in particular to Phil and Marie for once again showing their support....it is very much appreciated. Great to hear Steve Thew, Foggy Highway, Merri and Lyle Zononi entertain along with some new acts. We sang: Two Black Cadillacs (Carrie Underwood), Break On Me (Keith Urban), Little White Church {Little Big Town), Baby Be My Lovesong (Easton Corbin), Black Roses ("Nashville"), Castles In The Air (Don Maclean)....an old Lukey favourite it seems. Back there again in 2 weeks time....
12.01.2022 We had a very enjoyable night performing at Music Cafe in Portarlington last night. All the tables were full, and the crowd was engaged and attentive. We played Biding My Time (Busby Marou), One Man Band (Old Dominion), Follow Your Arrow & Butterflies (Kasey Musgraves), and Fly (Maddie & Tae). And we got a few giggles from John Williamson's...Old Farts and Caravan Parks, so attached is our first attempt at a "Phone Recorded" live video. This was our 2nd time at Music Cafe (April 2019), and we look forward to being invited back again by the effervescent Robyn and her crew.
11.01.2022 Peppers @ The Sands Resort Torquay was the venue for the Art Of Minds Festival finale, and we were pleased to perform 3 songs there today...Blessings by Florida Georgia Line, Speak To Me by Clare Bowen and You've Got A Friend by Carole King. All were appropriate choices for the event that created awarenes for Mental Health month. Many thanks Lukey for once again organizing the show, and providing excellent sound for all the entertainers. It was a talent packed afternoon and we look forward to next year.
09.01.2022 We were back at "The Rock" Thurs 28th Nov. Some fantastic acts that night including "Just Phil & Karl" in particular..they were absolutely brilliant. Just imagine two voices, a guitar and an electric violin performing an Electric Light Orchestra classic...amazing. For our part we performed a new song by Old Dominion: "One Man Band" plus 4 others. See you again next year Lukey.
08.01.2022 Feb 21 2020 Our second performance as a "Possum's Pest" act at the Geelong Navy Club saw us do 5 songs, being Eggs In A Basket (Jasmine Rae) Chicken Fried (Zac Brown) Back Outback (Sara Storer) Lemon Tree (Peter Paul & Mary) Change Your Mind (Clare and Sam). 05.01.2022 We have enjoyed performing at "The Dog" in Pakington street Geelong on 3 occasions over the past 3 months. Lukey Luke always puts together a great range of artists for his Open mic nights, and it is always a pleasure to sing there. We recently sang some new ones for us, Dan & Shay's "Alone Together" and Little Big Town's "A little More You", and we are now working on some more new songs for Nov 5th.
05.01.2022 A big thanks to our sound engineer and phone/video guy Phil (just-phil.jimdosite.com), (Facebook:justphilmusic111) and partner Marie for providing this video and supporting us at the Black Hatt Hotel. A great experience for us made quite special by you two friends. After a sound check with Blue Bayou, this was our first song of 13 on the night.
04.01.2022 For our first performance for the Geelong Folk Club in 5 years, we put together a set of "Nashville" (the TV series) songs. First up we had a request for Blue Bayou, then played Speak To Me, Lately, Change Your Mind, Black Roses, My Favourite Hurricane & Shotgun. It was a great privilege to have Carl get up with us and perform with his electric violin for the song Change Your Mind...thanks mate. Great sound thank you Rick, and the Folk Club, and a friendly venue and crowd at the Navy Club. All the entertainers were great.
