08.01.2022 WATCH DRAMATIC RESCUE FROM A MESS OF THICK OOZE On 22 December 1970, twenty-one year old plumber Bruce Carrick, found himself down a sewer pipe. Sunk up to his ...waist in a mess of thick ooze. When his workmates failed in their efforts to rescue him, the Fire Department’s rescue unit was called in, however they were also unsuccessful. Finally a sewage firm was called in and using heavy suction equipment, they winched Bruce out semi-conscious after three hours of being stuck below the surface.
