25.01.2022 GCNCC April After Work Networking Drinks at Topgolf Gold Coast

25.01.2022 The lightning fast applications for Round 2 of the Queensland Governments Small Business COVID-19 Adaption Grant Program again proves how many small businesses are hurting and need this support to get through COVID-19. Well be writing to the Minister urging for a Round 3 as soon as possible with extra funding available to support local businesses fighting through these challenging times. Lets look after each other, support local and recover and rebuild our local economy, together.

25.01.2022 Thanks to all that joined us at our August networking drinks at Bridges.

25.01.2022 The Federal Government's economic support package has provided timely support to affected workers, businesses and the broader community, and has kept Australians in work, and businesses in business. Today, the JobKeeper Payment is extended for a further six months until 28 March 2021 and is targeting support to those businesses and not-for-profits who continue to be significantly impacted by the Coronavirus. If you're a business needing more information, you can find it here ...or message us directly: https://treasury.gov.au/coronavirus

24.01.2022 The Gold Coast North Chamber of Commerce welcomes the decision by the @AFL to host the Grand Final in Queensland. After making sacrifices and with the majority of Queenslanders doing the right thing, it's a fitting way to thank our State for saving the professional sporting season. It will be an estimated $17 million dollar injection to the Queensland economy and a great inspiration for our local sporting clubs.

24.01.2022 On October 31st, a spooky of a different kind will take place here in Queensland on Halloween. We will be going to the polls for the 2020 State Election. It will be a critical moment for our local economy as we recover and rebuild. You will have an important choice to make about the future you want for Queensland. It will also be the first four-year fixed term following the vote.... Policies are well and truly being announced by both the LNP and Labor so be sure to do your research and make an informed decision no matter how spooky that may seem!

24.01.2022 Local Councillor Profile - Cr Cameron Caldwell Each month, we will be profiling the GCNCC local Councillors. This month we are profiling: City Planning boss, Cr Cameron Caldwell. On March 28th, Gold Coasters went to the polls in conditions not seen at an election in a generation. COVID-19 has had a profound impact over the last few months and the 2020 Local Government elections did not escape this reality. Importantly, the City of Gold Coast now has 14 Councillors and our May...or elected and working hard. City Planning boss Cameron Caldwell was returned to the newly redrawn Division 4 after a redistribution changed the division number but kept the majority of his old Division 3 constituents. Cr Caldwell went up against a fellow sitting Councillor Kristyn Boulton in what was reported as one of the toughest battles in the city. We welcome and congratulate Cr Caldwell on his re-election and wish Kristyn all the best in her new endeavours. COVID-19 will have long impacts on the local economy and Cr Caldwell will provide steady and experienced leadership to sail our local northern region through it. First taking the role as Gold Coast Councillor in 2012, the City's Planning boss has experience guiding the city through challenging times. At the 2020 poll, Cr Caldwell received a primary vote of 56.52%. We look forward to sharing Cr Caldwell's views with you as we combat the economic fallout. Cr Caldwell has been a long term supporter of our Chamber and we look forward to working alongside him to deliver for our small business community in the north.

05.01.2022 So, like 2 and a half million other Australians, youve taken up the Federal Governments early Superannuation withdrawal? This is not a decision to take lightly, but for some, it will be the first opportunity theyve had to wipe out crippling personal debt. Tips from Ratecity if you've used your super to pay off credit card debt: 1. Cut up the credit card and close the account(s).... 2. Don't apply for another credit card. 3. Start to build up your "rainy day" savings for future emergencies. 4. Make a plan to make extra contributions to your super (once your hours/income gets back on track). If you do access your superannuation during COVID-19 1. Before you do anything, call an independent financial advisor. And ask yourself, is there another way? 2. Make sure you meet the eligibility criteria. There are fines of up to $12,600 for misleading claims. 3. Come up with a plan to put the money back into your super as soon as you possibly can, through extra contributions. 4. Use the money wisely and take as little as possible. This is your nest egg. Don't use it as an opportunity to buy a new TV.

01.01.2022 Each month, we will be profiling the GCNCC local Councillors. This month we are profiling: Deputy Mayor Cr Donna Gates - Gold Coast On March 28th, Gold Coasters went to the polls in conditions not seen at an election in a generation. COVID-19 has had a profound impact over the last few months and the 2020 Local Government elections did not escape this reality. Deputy Mayor Donna Gates was returned to the new Division 3 after a redistribution cut her old Division in half. Cr Gates takes in thousands of new constituents and predominantly represents the greater Coomera area now. We welcome and congratulate Cr Gates on her re-election. COVID-19 will have long impacts on the local economy and Cr Gates will provide steady and experienced leadership to sail our local northern region through it. First taking the role of Gold Coast Councillor in 2007, the Deputy Mayor has experience guiding the city through challenging times. At the 2020 poll, Cr Gates received a resounding vote of approval, receiving 76.13% of the votes, the largest victory margin of any Councillor in 2020. We look forward to sharing Cr Gates views with you as we combat the economic fallout. Cr Gates has been a long term supporter of our Chamber and we look forward to working alongside her to deliver for our small business community in the north.
