22.01.2022 TO THE WAR DOG To the memory of silent footsteps that beside us once did fall We pause but for a moment... and in reverence do recall For the hand that held the leash they served our country well therefore we who do remain will their stories ever tell Some did come home along with us tails held high while others left empty collars and in foreign soil now silently they lie They are forever our guardian angels clad in soft and coloured fur as present now in our hearts as they ever and always were. 15.01.2022 It is with much sadness that the Nairne LIONS share the loss of our fellow LION Les Walker. Les was an active member of the Nairne LIONS for 11 years and truly ...lived by the motto "We Serve". He was the LIONS secretary for many years and no task was ever too much for him when asked. Les passed peacefully from illness on 3 Nov 2020. Our deepest sympathy to his family and friends at this time. See more

13.01.2022 #FosterFriday We're coming up to #WorldDiabetesDay next Saturday 14th November, so we thought we'd share this cute picture of "Cody", one of our pups in the pu...ppy program who is also undertaking initial training for the Diabetic Alert Dog program. As Diabetes Awareness is one of the core Lions pillars, next Saturday will also mark the Lions Lap the Map for Diabetes to promote a healthy lifestyle and awareness for Diabetes. Our Diabetic Alert Dog program is currently in early stages of development, with hopes our first dog will be placed in the next 2 years. If you are interested in fostering a puppy like "Cody", please contact our Puppy Program Coordinator, Mary, at [email protected].

13.01.2022 It's not just a footprint...... Those footsteps that appear on our webpage , on our facebook banner and feature on our medal are much more than a decoration. Th...ey form the logo of Operation Flinders Foundation The Foundation works with young people from the age of 13 - 18 who have been identified as 'at risk'. The 8-day program is held in the northern Flinders Ranges where young people trek up to 100km, experience abseiling, Indigenous culture, bushcraft and build self-confidence through challenging themselves. These young people come from all across South Australia and are typically referred to us as part of a team of 10 from one school or agency. With the continued support of Mt Barker Lions Club and Rotary Club of Mount Barker 2020 marked the 3rd year in a row that proceeds donated from Conquer the Summit reached a figure of $15,000, this will go directly towards the transformation of the lives of children at risk in our community. Entries are now open for March 21st 2021 https://www.conquerthesummit.org.au/
