25.01.2022 I don’t usually share much of my private life on social media so I’ve been hesitant re: posting about my recent academic achievement. At the prompting of my biggest supporter (aka my husband), I have decided to set my reservations aside and share what would have been my recent graduation from the Master of Laws majoring in family law and family dispute resolution. Unfortunately the ceremony didn’t proceed due to covid-19 restrictions but The College of Law Australia has promi...sed us an end of year function to mark the occasion. Those of you who know me on professional and/or personal level would know that I am a self proclaimed nerd. I love to learn and I think I’ll be doing some form or other of learning for the rest of my life. Achieving this milestone however hasn’t been without its challenges. I had initially intended to undertake my Masters in 2013 but my own family law issues and the safety of my own children took precedence and I had to put my dreams on hold. In 2018, despite life never giving us perfect conditions, I decided to go for it and commence my masters studies. I anguished about whether I would commence a law masters or an Islamic studies masters as my desire to learn more deeply about Islam had grown. Not being able to decide, I enrolled in both and despite the challenges of juggling two masters, running my own practice and parenting four children, I am grateful that I took that leap of faith in 2018. Since that time I have completed the Master of Law with a distinction average, half way through Master of Islamic Studies with a Distinction (or HD) average, became an accredited mediator and FDRP and a collaborative law professional, and as far as I’m aware I became the first female Muslim Family Law Arbitrator in the country. I couldn’t have achieved all of that without my husband’s support and the grace of God. To everyone else who supported me throughout my journey thus far - thank you
