23.01.2022 Good Morning Ladies, Another glorious day for golf on Saturday! We welcomed back Jan Davis after her hip surgery. All is working well It was also Birthday Cake Day for Jane Wolfe, Janeen Roberts and Kathy McMullen none of whom were present so we all enjoyed just a little bit more of Meredith’s Hummingbird Cake.... Division 1 Winner J. Davis 21pts Runner Up S. Avery 18 pts Near the Pin J. Davis Division 2 Winner C. Creighton 18pts countback Runner Up D. Alderman 18 pts Near the Pin S. Hagan Most of our regular players, all 25 of you, have played enough games to qualify for the Christmas Hams and Turkeys playoffs. Players must have played 12 games throughout the year. There are still four weeks left. to qualify. Yesterday, Monday 30/09/19, Cathy Jones and I ( and a few from the Men’s Club) met with Michael Beattie and Graham Green from the Jockey Club with regard to the future of our golf course. The Jockey Club were very keen to keep the golf course open but they haven’t been able to come up with a viable financial plan. So Basically, it’s up to us (all interested parties our golf clubs, social clubs etc) to prepare a workable 3, 5 and 10 year business plan for the Jockey Club to go into bat for us with the Lands Dept. to get a lease and licence by the end of November. Please pass the word around for all to attend a meeting on Sunday 13th October at 12 noon at the Club house. That includes an invitation to the Pub Social Clubs that play at Westlawn and ANYONE else you can think of. A few of your committee are working behind the scenes to get our ducks in a row for this meeting. If you have any helpful ideas, or indeed a Lotto win, please have a chat to a committee member. And by the way, the rumour of the dam being built on the course is correct. It will be in hole between the 4th Tee and the 8th Green the one with Palm Island in the middle. Have a safe and happy long weekend. Cheers, Wendy

04.01.2022 On Saturday we played a Stroke and Putting round to find the winners of our Medals (Hat pin Markers). All will be revealed at presentation night this Friday at the GDSC from 6pm. We’re rather chuffed to have a fun crowd of 23 registered for the event. This will be the last Presentation Night for our Club as we know it. Ask at reception where our celebrations will be held as we’re not sure which room we will be partying on in. Saturday’s winners were: Division 1... Winner S. Avery 33.5 nett Runner Up M. McFarlane 37.5 nett Putting M. McFarlane 14 putts Division 2 Winner S. Blake 33.5 nett Runner Up J. Burt 34.5 nett Putting J. The inaugural Annual General Meeting for the new Westlawn Golf Club will be held next Saturday at the Club house at 1pm.This meeting will involve the election of a new committee. So far the nominations are weighted in the Men’s favour. I’d really love to see some of you step up, if only for a voice on the committee. Meredith has nominated for Treasurer and I’m putting my hand up for a position on the General Committee. We will be needing a Ladies Club Captain for the new committee at the very least. You’ve all witnessed how I’ve muddled my way through these past 3 years and I thank you for your on-going good humour and support. You too can do it with a little help from your friends. Ideally, I’d like to see one of us run for Vice President.
