23.01.2022 Brown Trout - photos from the files of Geelong Fish Taxidermy.

23.01.2022 Mixing species on the same backboard are an interesting way to display your fish.

23.01.2022 A very Happy Christmas to all our friends and clients, have fun and stay safe out there. Geelong Fish Taxidermy

22.01.2022 This 154.7kg Broadbill Swordfish caught by Carn Taylor from Port MacDonnell is a pending Australian and South Australian record. Caught on 37kg line, it's probably the first ever Broadbill to have been caught in South Australian waters on rod and line. At around 4 metres in length it was a tough job, but the result makes it worthwhile. The Port MacDonnell Offshore Angling Club also ordered a replica for their Clubrooms.

21.01.2022 Just to let people know, who may not be aware, I've been retired for some time. Cheers, Trevor.

21.01.2022 Big 70 pound Cod awaiting pick up by its owner. This is of course a reproduction as it's illegal to take a fish of this size. So all you people who have caught and released a good Cod this season, or anytime for that matter, can get a fish made up similar to this from one of my large collection of Cod moulds. Note: pink isn't as strong as it appears in the photo.

20.01.2022 154kgs (or 340lbs) of backache for the fisherman and the taxidermist!! This Broadbill Swordfish was caught out of Port MacDonnell, South Australia. Good thing my mate Gary Causen has a tractor - the biggest problem now is getting it thawed out to make a mould of it.

19.01.2022 Something a bit different - a Pedestal Mount Snapper. Did this a while back . There's a lot more work involved, hence they cost a bit more, but they create a great focal point.

19.01.2022 Barra time is fast approaching. This is a file photo of a Territory caught fish, but a client of mine caught a good fish near Townsville 2 days ago and the run off in the Territory will start to beckon soon. I have quite a few Barra moulds if you can't get your own fish back to Victoria. Nice if you can though. One option, if flying, is to get it frozen, put it in an old bag and check it on as excess baggage.

17.01.2022 Went AWOL to the Hume Weir for 4 days. Beautiful weather, helpful locals and a few fish. Good to recharge the batteries.Special thanks to Ben and Bluey.

16.01.2022 Seems to have been a good Tuna season everywhere. These two 'back-busters' are partially crated up for shipping to Tasmania and South Australia.

11.01.2022 Cod Fishermen - Heading up to the Yamaha Cod Classic Registration Day at Lake Mulwala on Friday December 5th with an exhibition displaying how you can release your fish and still get a trophy to hang on your wall. Will be in the registration area, hope to see you there and I can explain catch & release taxidermy.

10.01.2022 Moses Sawiris is delighted with the job I did for him on his Westernport Bay Snapper.

08.01.2022 Two happy clients picking up their Bluefin Tuna and some images showing the detailing to fins and finlets which all go to make up the painting of these great fish.

06.01.2022 Snapper Season is going well. For the benefit of anyone considering getting a mount done, I have placed some of my snapper in 6 tackle shops from the east to the north of Melbourne, Werribee and Geelong. If you care to view them they are on display at Sandy's Bait & Tackle, Colemans Road, Carrum Downs, Dandenong Compleat Angler, Aussie Angler in Greensborough, Hooked on Bait & Tackle at Werribee, Compleat Angler Geelong and Tackleworld Geelong.

06.01.2022 Black Murray Cod. No, not a new species, just a great example of how fish can change their colour to match their environment. Nikko caught and released a fine Cod in a small creek, which I reproduced for him.

05.01.2022 Frank Madeo was thrilled with my replica of his Portland "barrel" to the extent he immediately ordered a second fish. Frank and wife Ashlea hooked and landed a 120.6kg Bluefin at Apollo Bay recently so they are getting it done as well. Frank was impressed that all my moulds are double sided so you get the full fish which demonstrates the immense girth of a "barrel".

03.01.2022 A special weekend for my family. Our daughter Erica became Mrs Erica Ploutos when she married Sammy Ploutos at St Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church in Templestowe.

03.01.2022 A client's fish from last season. Get ready, you know they're coming!!

03.01.2022 A rarity in my workshop today is a customer with a really large Rainbow Trout from public waters. Jarrod Biles from Walkabout Fishing Tours caught the best Rainbow I've seen in many years from a public lake with a relatively small number of devotees (compared to some of the "glamour" waters) that enjoy for the most part some very good fishing. This fish weighing in at 11 lbs on the old scale is my idea of a perfect Rainbow being thick set and fin perfect, it is an absolute "gem" of a fish.

02.01.2022 A happy client picking up a reproduction of a beautiful Cod he caught and released earlier this season. Darren was amazed by the detail in the fish. Remember as the Cod Season closure sneaks up, if you have released any big fish this year that you would like replicated, I have a large collection of Cod moulds that should cover most fish. These moulds are taken off real fish so are incredibly life-like.
