25.01.2022 Two people who’s contribution to Poultry would take a lot of beating - anywhere in the entire world. Gladys and Alf Woods. Photo taken at the official launch of... the Australian Poultry Standards in 1999. Australia would NOT have its book of Australian Poultry Standards if not for Alf who, almost single handed, rescued a portion of the sale of Brookes Hall in South Melbourne and deposited that sum with the VPFA. That money was used to underwrite the entire cost of the production of APS 1. Alf has been a tireless worker on the Australian Poultry Standards Committee for 25 years and is currently Chairman of the Committee. Gladys hosted nearly all the committee meetings for APS I and all the Committee meetings for APS II. The meetings went for a full day and were attended by 7 people. Gladys provided morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea on at least (by my reckoning as one involved in both books) 70 occasions during the production of the two editions. The APS Committee still meet at Alf’s home and since Gladys’ death the baton of catering has passed to Alf’s daughter Pauline Swift who is just like her wonderful mother was- warm, welcoming, generous, capable and good humoured. what is said above hardly scratches the surface of the contribution Alf and Gladys have made to Poultry. Alf Woods I salute you and thank you for your unmatched and ongoing contribution to Purebred Poultry in Victoria and throughout the whole of Australia. See more

24.01.2022 Hope all our members and friends are keeping well and breeding a few for next years shows. We can only improve our birds by breeding new ones. Clean out the scrubbers and make some room for this years chickens. Harry

19.01.2022 To all members. By our committee's decision it has been decided to postpone our annual meeting until the first monday Night in February. It will commence at 6:30 with a BBQ tea in lieu of our usual christmas breakup. The committee wishes all our members and friends a very merry christmas and a happy and safe New Year and look forward to resuming as normal in 2021.

12.01.2022 I'm sorry to advise that one of our past members has passed away. Don Davis was a great worker for our club and together with his great friend the late Bob French put in many hours updating our pens and stands. We owe Don a great thankyou for his efforts. We extend our condolences to Don's family.
