24.01.2022 KITTY - 9.5 YEARS OLD - FEMALE - POODLE - $400 Hello! My name is Kitty, I know you’re confused but yes, I am a dog, a Poodle to be exact! I am 9.5 years old and have lived a life on a big property running around and being an excellent security guard, I like to make sure that any visitors know that I am here to protect the house, but once they arrive at the door I am very friendly and very sweet. For this reason, if your neighbours don’t like to hear a dog bark in the day, I ...Continue reading

21.01.2022 Lilly - 11 month - female - Basset Hound x Dachshund - $400 Hi There My name is Lilly, I’m a 11 month old Basset hound x Dachshund.... I’m on the hunt for my forever home. I’m a high energy type of girl so I need a home that would be able to give me plenty of training and exercise daily.. and of course plenty of love. I currently live on a rural property with my foster family, a toddler, 6 other dogs, a cat and some chickens... not going to lie to you I enjoy a good chase of that pesky cat and if I see the chickens you’ll be surprised how fast I can run! This being said my foster parents say I need a forever home that doesn’t have any cats, chickens or pocket pets... I have trouble figuring out why I’m not allowed to eat them even though it seems so fun! I am great with my dog foster siblings and I love, love...LOVE to play and wrestle. This being said I can be very rough with my play so would need a confident dog sibling that will be a good match for me. In the last year I’ve had 4 different homes, this has lead me to have a lot of separation anxiety and when I’m left alone I will cry, howl and bark...however my foster family have been practicing everyday leaving me alone for very short periods to help me get comfortable with the idea of no humans around. I can bark when meeting some strange people, being a Covid puppy my foster parents assume this is because I haven’t met many strangers before.. once I know I can trust you I get comfortable though. So you will need to know how to say no to random people on the street touching me. I am food motivated so with some treat training I get comfortable to say hello after a few minutes. Toilet training was an issue when I first arrived in to care... I know you’re probably thinking that a one year old would be toilet trained but unfortunately no one taught me properly when I was younger! My foster family will be able to teach you how they have successfully shown me going to the toilet outside is the best ever! I haven’t had an accident inside for over 3 weeks now. So to sum it up if you tick yes to the following you would be a great fit for me- -Home everyday but willing to work on training to help me with my separation anxiety -Dedicated to daily exercise and enrichment -No small children (as I jump up a lot and will knock them over) -No other animals apart from another dog Bonus if you have Basset hound experience! Lilly is desexed, microchipped, up to date with vaccinations, flea and worm treatments. You can apply to adopt via the link below https://www.geelonganimalrescue.org.au/animals/lilly-2/ M/Chip #900164001931962 Source #RE100238

21.01.2022 Thelma & Louise - 12 week old - Female DSH - $400 Thelma & Louise are two gorgeous, feisty sisters and come as a package deal. They came into care when they were around 9 weeks old, and now are ready for their fur-ever homes! Thelma is the mischief maker of the two. She is confident, loud and proud and loves to let you know when she wants food or attention. Thelma is super happy, smoochy and playful. She loves to be patted and will happily sit with you on the couch after play...time. Louise is the quieter kitten of the two, but don’t let it fool you! She is still a confident and vocal little lady, just not quite as loud as her counterpart! She is just as smoochy and loving as her sister, but a little shyer. Both girls have become super happy, confident and playful girls while in care. They have learnt to tolerate dogs quite well and also are quite tolerant of other cats. Thelma & Louise need a home where they are ideally the only pets and have plenty of room to play and wrestle. Being kittens, both girls will be more playful that snuggly and their new paw-fect family will need to keep that in mind. Both Thelma & Louise are toilet trained, desexed, microchipped and up to date with vaccinations, flea & worm treatment. 20.01.2022 DOT - 14 WEEKS - FEMALE - DSH - $200 Hi, I’m Dot.... I was the smallest one in my family...but also the sweetest! I have a really pretty face and a cuddly nature. My carer thinks I will definitely be a lap cat when I grow up. I love to play and climbing is a favourite pastime. I can’t wait to meet you....I bet you can’t resist my cute little face! I look forward to plenty of cuddles. Catch you soon, Dot x Dot is desexed, microchipped, up to date with vaccinations, flea and worm treatments. 20.01.2022 Buddy & Sampson - 3 month old - male DSH - bonded pair - $400 pair Hi there, I’m Buddy (tabby) and this is my brother Sampson (white) but we sometimes call him Sammy. So if you're looking for a lap cat then please keep on looking as we like our own independence. My foster mum is hoping we will grow out of that as we are still tiny tots. ... She thinks we are like this as we spent our first 8 weeks on the streets without this human contact thing. But when she pats us she says we purr like an engine, what ever that means?! Me I looove belly rubs but Sammy likes a pat under the chin, what ever you do don’t touch his belly he doesn’t like that. We do LOVE to play with all of our toys and we’re really good at leaving them everywhere. We also like wrestling together and playing tag with our foster brother(another cat), we haven’t met any dogs so not sure if we would like them but I’m told I am very brave and confident, with cats, people I’m slowing getting better. But don’t let my size fool you. Samson is still working on his bravery. You just have to be patient with him, I know he will get there. He’s bigger than me but very, very shy. We love playing in the outside cat enclosure so if you have one wow that would be great fun! Our furever family should keep in mind that we’re still kittens and we are more playful than snuggly. Buddy and Samson are toilet trained, desexed, microchipped and up to date with vaccinations, flea and worm treatments. 18.01.2022 AVA - 2YO - STAFFY X - FEMALE - $400 Hi There! This is Miss Ava! She knows how to walk on a lead very well, rarely pulls and if she does if you tell her to come back she will. She is fine with other dogs on the lead. Off the lead she is even better, she will circle around and come back to you. We are yet to meet any dogs off lead that hasn’t lived with. She will be need to be walked at least once a day or you will find she has lots of energy to burn and will destroy a toy and... won’t settle before bed time. Ava is learning to be more gentle when playing with other dogs. She does want to play but sometimes gets a little excited and ends up getting told off by the other dog. Personally I think she will be a perfect dog on her own but she will need stimulation and attention. She could be paired with another dog but I suggest a calm dog that can teach her to play softly! She loves attention from other dogs. Cats she is fine with when they are just around the house but if they run she will chase after them. Ava is easily trusting with humans and will need someone soft and willing to nicely discourage bad behaviours. The only bad behaviour Ava is learning is to not jump when getting over excited or nervous. But she’s getting there! She has a heart of gold and anyone will be lucky to have her to adore. Ava is desexed, microchipped, up to date with vaccinations, flea and worm treatments. 13.01.2022 MORRIS - 4 MONTHS OLD - MALE - DSH - $200 Hi, I’m Morris! I am a playful, adventurous ball of energy looking for my forever home! I spend most of my time running around with my favourite toys, or following the humans around like a shadow.... Because I am still a baby, it’s almost always playtime for me, but I am settling down as I grow older. When I finally run out of energy, I do love a nap snuggled up to the humans. I am a smoochy, friendly kitten who gets along well with new humans. I love my grown-up foster cat siblings, but I can annoy them with my endless energy so if my new home has other kitties they might need some time to adjust to having me around. When the humans are at work during the day I am very well behaved, and I always use the litter and the scratching posts. If you think you could be my forever home, please apply! Morris is desexed, microchipped, up to date with vaccinations, flea and worm treatments. 10.01.2022 EVIE - DSH - FEMALE - DOB 12/2018 - $200 Hello, my name is Evie and I am looking for my forever family. I am a little timid at first but it doesn’t take long before I am asking for smooches and pats.... My carers say I am very sweet, happy, affectionate and keep my room very clean. I currently live with my best friend Oscar who I love and we do everything together, especially chasing balls and toy mice. I do purr a lot and make funny little noises like birds so I hope that is o.k. I love pats and smooches but not really sure about being picked up and held for too long as it’s a bit scary but I am getting better at it. I am happy to share with another fur friend as long as they are friendly and gentle and don’t mind sharing. I take a leisurely bath every day, usually while sitting in a window. My coat is very soft and shiny and I am told that I am ‘very pretty’. I love my food and have impeccable table manners. It’s time for me to find my own forever home with people that I could snuggle up to and shower with lots of smooches. May be that’s you! *Carers notes - Evie can be a little timid at first but is also very confident. Very smoochy and loves gentle pats. Very clean, makes lots of sweet noises, and is like a tractor when she purrs. Not keen on being lifted and held but is getting used to this more and more. She loves playing with her room-mate Oscar and watching TV. Sweet affectionate girl! Evie is desexed, microchipped, up to date with vaccinations, flea and worm treatments. 05.01.2022 Heat wave warning With the weather set to hit the high temperatures over today & tomorrow here are some tips to keep all members of your fam safe in the heat Keep them indoors in the aircon where possible ... Make sure they have access to fresh/clean water If pets can’t be inside, ensure they have shelter away from the sun - remembering that the sun moves throughout the day so it’s important to have multiple shade locations Offering frozen treats - you can find heaps of recipes online! Adding ice cubes to water bowls (the rumour that spread through Facebook that this is not safe was incorrect) Having a cooling mat or damp towel that your pet can access Only going for walks in the early morning or late evening if the temperature drops enough Dogs and cats with smooth/thin hair and white coloured ears or noses can be more susceptible to skin cancers - look for an animal specific sunscreen, do not use human sunscreen as it can be harmful Keep an eye on your pets for signs of heat distress. Including, but not limited to - excessive panting, drooling, vomiting, diarrhoea, reddened gums, mental dullness Lastly, do not leave your pets in cars and call 000 if you see a pet locked in a hot car It’s also a kind idea to leave fresh water out for our wildlife as they also struggle in the heat Drop your photo below of how your fur-kid is keeping cool this summer

04.01.2022 SPROUT - DSH - FEMALE - 5 months old - $200 Hi there, my name is Sprout. Sprout by name not by nature! But don’t worry my small stature hasn’t held me back, except for the high places that my foster siblings can reach. So about me...I love to play with my foster siblings (cats, I’m sure would like dogs as long as they are gentle with me) and can turn anything into a toy from a toilet roll to a leaf or even an actual toy. When I’m all tuckered out I’m happy to have a snooze on... the couch, your bed or even on your lap. Sprout is desexed, microchipped, up to date with vaccinations, flea and worm treatment. 01.01.2022 BILLY - 9yo - Ragdoll - male - $200 Billy is a gorgeous boy who loves to snooze on the bed, get belly rubs and not be disturbed 50% of the day. The other 50% he is yelling for food, running around the house playing with his mouse toys or stalking the cat across the road through the window. Billy is very food oriented and loves his food and although having absolutely no teeth, he will eat absolutely anything in sight.... To GAR’s understanding Billy spent the last 9 years of his life living inside as an only pet. He is now living with his foster mum’s cats and a small dog and he isn’t particularly fond of any of them. Because of this, Billy’s golden years will be best suited to a home with no other pets. Billy loves attention from anyone, he likes to be where the people are and like most other ragdoll cats he gets bored easily so would be best suited to a home where you would be around to keep him company, he loves to watch and spend time with you if you’re busy or sleep next to you when you’re not. He is very inquisitive and although we don’t know if he has ever met children his foster mum thinks he would be happy to share a home with a child and bonus for potential adoptive families who have children, no sharp teeth (claws still included). Billy is desexed, microchipped, up to date with vaccinations, flea and worm treatments. You can apply via the link below https://www.geelonganimalrescue.org.au/animals/billy/ M/chip# 982000153743452 Source# RE100238
