25.01.2022 Year 8 Aboriginal Art in progress.

24.01.2022 Please see this link for an important mid-Term 3 update from the Head of College, Jill Lange-Mohr. https://safeYouTube.net/w/9XIT Kind regards,

24.01.2022 GLC String Program 2021 In 2021 we are very excited to be launching our Year 3 Strings Program. This program will be a welcome addition to our music department and forge the beginnings of an orchestral program at GLC. For one semester, students will be involved in a violin class. They will be provided with a violin to take home and practice in order to hone their skills. The learning of the violin will heighten students’ leadership and cooperative skills. They will build th...eir confidence and resilience and heighten their ability to focus. Students will also develop their aural ability and gain a practical understanding of music notation. The violin provides students with a very kinesthetic experience and draws together many thinking skills including social and emotional skills, critical and creative thinking and problem solving. In addition, it’s fun. Students will be energised with the sound of making music together, playing along to backing tracks and building friendships. We can’t wait to hear the results of these budding violinists in 2021. Earlier today, Grace and Ryoma welcomed the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the new instruments. See more

19.01.2022 On 11 November 1918, the guns of the Western Front fell silent after four years of continuous warfare. With their armies retreating and close to collapse, German leaders signed an Armistice, bringing to an end the First World War. From the summer of 1918, the five divisions of the Australian Corps had been at the forefront of the allied advance to victory. Each year on this day Australians observe one minute’s silence at 11am, in memory of those who died or suffered in all wa...rs and armed conflicts. The reason poppies are used to remember those who have given their lives in battle is because they are the flowers which grew on the battlefields after World War One ended. This is described in the famous World War One poem In Flanders Fields. 'They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.' Lest We Forget

18.01.2022 We love that our past students want to remain connected to our College and provide encouragement to current students. Here's a message from Gemma Hayden. https://vimeo.com/480072236

14.01.2022 RUOK? Day: GLC will join the national wellbeing awareness campaign RUOK? Day on Thursday, September 10. Its more important than ever to check in on friends, relatives and neighbours at this time. Tomorrow and in the coming week, classes will discuss how to how to ask a friend if they are ok, how to listen well and how to encourage them to seek help if they are not ok. This years theme is Theres more to say after RUOK?, and there is an additional focus on continuing the conversation with struggling friends by following up with questions such as How about I check in with you again next week? and How have you been since we last chatted?. Find out more at www.ruok.org.au

14.01.2022 Congratulations to Thomas N. for winning an Emerald Award in the 2020 Language Perfect World Championships earlier in the year. This fabulous achievement placed him among the top 1% of competitors worldwide, as well as coming first in the Geelong Region Language Perfect Championships, the latter earning him a $50 gift voucher! Its amazing to see how dramatically Thomas German skills have improved!

13.01.2022 Keep an eye on our Hyped Media LED sign. Along with carrying important messages youll see some bright, smiling faces of our children attending to their studies.

13.01.2022 This morning our Head of College Jill Lange-Mohr welcomed Victorian Government MP Darren Cheeseman to the Armstrong Creek campus for a tour of our facilities. Mr Cheeseman is a Member of the Legislative Assembly and, in fact, operates as the 'Government Whip'. This role means that he is responsible for ensuring there are sufficient numbers to vote in the Lower House of the Parliament of Victoria. Mr Cheeseman was very interested in the development of our GLC Armstrong Creek campus, particularly as the Armstrong Creek/Mt Duneed growth corridor is a key area in his electorate.

13.01.2022 Thank you Jossiah, everyone at GLC Armstrong Creek appreciates your leadership and welcomes your words of encouragement. https://safeYouTube.net/w/IWfW

13.01.2022 Thanks to the first-round of parents who sent in photos of their Preps celebrating the first 100 days of their school education. Well run some more photos later this week, so we look forward to more pictures being sent in as per the CareMonkey notice.

13.01.2022 Will has been using his recently-acquired science knowledge, along with a good dose of creativity, to send an important message regarding blood donation. The Year 7 students have been studying the Separating Mixtures unit focusing on separating the components of blood. Nice work Will! https://safeYouTube.net/w/HIXY

11.01.2022 Our VCE Outdoor & Environmental Studies students have just returned from a wonderful experience trekking the aptly named Crosscut Saw Mt Howitt. This remote and pristine part of the Victorian Alps is one of Australia’s best kept secrets. Mt Howitt is nestled amongst the rugged and remote mountains of the Victoria Alpine Park, with Crosscut Saw by far the most spectacular ridgeline in the alpine region.

08.01.2022 Friday afternoon school pick up of a different kind! Well done, Luttrell family

07.01.2022 Please be aware that from today the Armstrong Creek community will be staggering pick-up times for the foreseeable future. The pick-up times are: From 2.55 pm - Students in Prep Year 4.... From 3.10 pm - Students in Year 5 12. (These students will ONLY be dismissed at 3.05 pm) Very importantly, the pick-up time is dependent on your OLDEST child. For example, if you have a child in Year 8 and in Year 3, your pick-up time is from 3.10 pm. Children will be supervised at all times if they are waiting for older siblings. Please ONLY arrive at your designated pick up time. We need our whole school community to assist us in this for it to be successful. We are extremely grateful for the support that parents and caregivers have demonstrated through this time and we appreciate your continued assistance as we move forward.

06.01.2022 A beautiful Spring evening at our GLC Armstrong Creek campus last night.

06.01.2022 Year 11 exams are underway. We wish our 2020 cohort all the best for this intense time of the year. May they be rewarded for all of their hard work in preparing for VCE Unit 2 subject exams.

05.01.2022 Thanks to Mrs Schilling and our student leaders we were able to present a virtual assembly once again this morning.

05.01.2022 Thanks to James from Hyped Media we are fortunate to have an electronic sign stationed at the western end of the car park pick-up zone. Keep an eye out for important messages and some great photos of our students at work and play. (Our Facebook photos dont do justice to the great quality display of our Hyped Media screen). 04.01.2022 Over the next few days we hope you will enjoy seeing us roll out some of the Year 8 artwork at GLC Armstrong Creek.

04.01.2022 In Year 9/10 Ceramics in Term 4, students experiment with the wheel using Stoneware clay. Students learn how to wedge their clay and form a ball to position in the centre of the wheel. They then experiment with pressure using their hands, speed consistency on the pedal and maintaining a similar thickness of clay on the walls of the art piece. Students bring the clay up and down several times to ensure it is easier to form a pot or sculpture, they then apply significant amounts of water to allow the piece to be easily molded with the hands. After mastering all these skills, this allows students to feel confident to create an art piece that is stable and aesthetically pleasing. Well done students on your persistence with your work and sharing the joy when you create an appealing ceramic artwork. Ms. Garrard (Secondary Art Teacher)

02.01.2022 Easter may seem a long time ago and due to remote learning it took us a little longer to judge the amazing Easter eggs that had been entered into GLCs First Easter Egg Decorating Competition. They were so beautiful that the Committee decided that everyone was a winner and got to take home a little prize. The special awards went to: Bella in 1/2C (the Lange-Mohr-Ellis Egg 1) and Madeline in 3A (the Lange-Mohr-Ellis Egg 2). Yash in 5B won the Deutschklubs Best Pick. Well done everyone and we cannot wait until next years competition!

01.01.2022 Were so proud of some of our Year 9 & 10 onsite learning students who made biscuits to be delivered to the Barwon Health, Baxter House Covid-19 wards. The gesture was part of a thank you gift, from the GLC community, for the medical fraternity working so hard to keep our broader community safe and well.

01.01.2022 We invite you to view an important message from Principal Sue Ellis: https://safeYouTube.net/w/GJXY

01.01.2022 It was delightful to see our SEMATICS 102 2020 team present their latest project to Head of College Ms Lange-Mohr and Principal Ms Ellis. The team has been working hard under the direction of Mrs Hollett in preparation for an upcoming competition. We look forward to seeing them represent the College professionally and creatively, as they have done on previous occasions.

01.01.2022 Mixed feelings as we farewell our students this afternoon. Stay safe. We WILL get through this!

01.01.2022 Maggie Dent reminds us of the incredible benefits of reading with our children. Please enjoy this article which helps us understand why we need to prioritise this invaluable practice.
