19.01.2022 WHEELIE BIN CHALLENGE Come one come all. Ladies, gentlemen, children and no doubt Bondys dog. It is competition time and it's quite simple. Grab your recycling bin, stand at least 20 metres away and kick it in the bin. But there is a twist...... It will be points based. Let me explain the run down. 1 point for a drop punt. 2 points for a snap/banana or kick over your head.... 3 points for a dribble along the ground, bounce up and in. 4 points for a torp 5 points for a drop kick You will get a bonus point for fancy dress or being extra creative. If it comes down to a tie it will go down to distance. Send your videos to Swamp on 0437740104, post them to your wall tagging Geelong masters or on team app. Use the tags #geelongmasters and #binchallenge. I would show you all how its done, but after 4 hours I've deducted that the bin is related to Strawbs, I just can not hit that target. Show us your best. See more

19.01.2022 A bloke once said about Masters footy we still play 'cause we can! I'm not sure it was Buck but I'm sure it was in his repertoire. As an Honoury Geelong Masters legend we loved him mainly due to him Coaching so many of us in our Famous Carnival Championship of 2017 versus the Metro boys. Buck - a legend of footy, a family man who adored his kids, but as i remember a man amongst men - he'd make the effort with everyone to "bring them "in" - Such a shock . . . In time we will ...honour your contribution but today we sit knowing Masters is less for you have gone. On behalf of all of us that knew you, the lucky ones who played for you but for those that play this game - its because of great blokes - tonight you stand at the front of that line RIP Buck our love to Michelle and Bucks family. *For those that were lucky enough to play at Geelong for our VicCountry Carnival I asked Buck to give me his thoughts on every player for the piece i wrote for our Carnival journey. Your mate Shiney On behalf of all at Geelong Masters.

17.01.2022 Missing: Babycakes Last seen: Being hunted by Ben Johnson Known to visit: Echuca and Paddleboats Wanted: to attend training to help fit into his wedding suit.... If you know the whereabouts of Babycakes please bring him to a nice 23oC *training session at Grinter reserve from 5pm tomorrow nite* Tuesday the 12th before we get into the Summer 9s in the next few weeks. All welcome.

14.01.2022 A few keen boys hit Eastern Gardens tonite with some obvious work already put in by The Prince, Brooksy and Stevie. Keysy moving well with Della looking for a Diesel Williams role in the middle this year! As usual Kernal just motoring along and " the (hot) waterbottle" just keeping it real or warm anyway - while the little magician Bondalino looking like he was warming up for a serious nite on The town. Nice to have a bit of footyback.

11.01.2022 A shout out to a true legend of Masters footy and sport around Geelong. Congratulations to our very own Peter "Jexy" Ramia https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10158594170813859&id=777623858

11.01.2022 As tough as these times are there are people not safe in their own homes. If you know anyone at risk please take a minute to share and reach out. Our club stands against Domestic Violence of any form.

09.01.2022 Whilst we can - i assisted Carso with some rehab Golf which turned in to a mix of Rehab Golf and Ninja Warrior with mixed results.

09.01.2022 Update. There has been alot going on with regards to our potential return to training and or competition . As your "committee" we have been busy on all fronts staying a breast of developments. As it stands - we wait on Newcomb to be advised by AFL Barwon to approve training on Grinter. Though we are not directly under AFL Barwons control - we have a courtesy to our host's, as well as the GCC for approval for orchestrated training.... VicMetro are waiting on direction from the AFL as to any competition or training. It is important and we support groups training within the confines as mates - please understand though this is NOT a club sanctioned activity we understand the need to exercise, laugh and be amongst your mates. Please know as your club we have NO cover for anything that may happen as you chose to train outside our ground and control - but we encourage everyone to abide by well documented social distancing and sanitation processes. Geelong Masters Team.

09.01.2022 As great sponsors of Geelong Masters please place a vote for the great times we've had at Murphys.

08.01.2022 2020 Season Update As per our last update and in an effort to keep you all informed we had a glimmer of hope that Vic Country may have been able to pull off part of a season. Unfortunately, this has not been possible and now VC have also cancelled the 2020 season. We hold out some hope that later in the year some sort of competitive program may be possible which may include other clubs, mini round robin or a 9s format as things continue to move the Executive Committee will k...eep on top of these changes and communicate appropriately. Until then please be mindful of the STRICT COVID requirements around sanitation, documentation and physical distancing at training - these will be strictly enforced as the club is liable for any breaches including fines. Your Executive Committee.

07.01.2022 2020 Season Update This afternoon we received confirmation the VicMetro board had voted to cancel the 2020 season. Geelong Masters had voted to play the season under whatever conditions it could be played.... The clubs voted evenly where some clubs voted to play conditionally - this resulted in a unanimous vote against playing this year. Though many of our younger members may see this as overly cautious - the safety health and well being of our entire playing group has been prioritised. Four teams One club. Though, the chances of this Virus being transferred within a game may be seen as low, the potential harm to an at risk group could be devastating. As a keen Masters footballer and Im sure I speak on behalf of our Executive, we're dissapointed to not be having a kick this year like most of you - but as President I ask you to understand the position of the board and the league - that we support. Stay tuned as we not only train, but look at what options we have to engage in some sort of competitive competition either internal or externally in both Metro and Country. On a side note - a further nod of gratitude to our Summer 9s organisers for allowing us a summer season of this awesome game - where otherwise like most clubs we would have missed out completely. President & Executive Geelong Masters FC

04.01.2022 Well the new nines season is apon us and the coach boss has come up with the teams so far (I'd hate to be in his side, guaranteed 2nd) but here they are. Thank you to all players that have filled out rego forms but to all that have not, please see swampy before the games. Fees for this year will be the same as last year, a flat $50. See Swamp on the night or call/msg me on 04...37740104 to sort something out. Pic is of strawbs back in the day for attention. 03.01.2022 In some promising news today - we are excited to be able to look at some competitive footy and open up training this week. Summer 9s is on the agenda and once the AFL and Vic Metro approve the return to competition - we'll look to announce the dates and details of our new Summer 9s series - stay tuned and plan your return to training either Tuesday and/or Thursday from 5pm - on the beautiful surface at Grinter Reserve. The rumour is the legend that is Steve Handley may turn up for his 50s training sesh as he works up to his 50s debut in 2021.

03.01.2022 Good morning Geelong Masters family, The Executive met again last night to discuss the season. The If, How, When, Where and Why you'll be pleased to know has been discussed. The key points were that May 11 is the date we'll know what format we MAY be able to return and we are considering a range of options firstly to train. It is likely there will be space and group numb...er restrictions. We will be ready to go with potentially different locations - various times including daytime sessions as well as restricted session duration. we may need different vests and if for instance there is a session we may run booking times which mean first 10 in then cut off, if on the same ground the next 10 may be identified with alternate vests etc BUT can not mix. As for playing it appears we may be low down the list of priorities but after kids (low risk) those younger boys and girls will be prioritised as in particular the older our boys get the potentially higher risk - but the fitter the less risk (so a bit of a paradox here). We discussed IF a partial season commences we'll have to half our crowds and manage this based on restrictions. We have spoken about Options B & C which include a 9's season (contact or not) and The Harlem Globetrotters model where we choose say 5 teams (Clubs) and Manage this ourselves - this could involve Country Clubs and Metro Clubs. We are open to suggestions, and appreciate everybody's patience during this unprecedented time. If the worst case scenario does occur then we are planning for that as well. Ideas like a Zoom party and something that is already in the wind, which is a the best Bomb (torp). Watch this space in the coming days for a competition that involves 10% skill, 10% creativity, 10% charisma and 70% pure luck and is not just limited to players, we want everyone involved. The committee will meet again shortly after the governments decision next monday to advise what is going to happen and how we go about it. If it is a little to much right now, with everything that is going on in the world. Do not hesitate the reach out to one of your Masters brothers or sisters as we are always here to help. From The President, and the Committee

03.01.2022 Good guy anyone keen General fitting and Labouring work.

02.01.2022 With the introduction of Stage 3 restrictions we are unable to train as a group from Wednesday this week. We will keep you updated however for what looks like 6 weeks we are unable to have organised sessions - so please note from Wednesday Geelong Masters FC does NOT sanction any group training. However, we encourage you all to stay active in groups of two whether this be walks runs or simply kicking a ball. Remember how hard the first session back was when you stopped doing everything! So keep active, stay engaged, look out for your family and your mates. We will as an Executive be e-meeting shortly and will provide updates as to our plans and ideas on how we stay connected. Shiney, RobDog, Swamp, Spoon and Rocket.
