25.01.2022 The thunderstorm forecast below is the CURRENT thunderstorm forecast for tomorrow, Saturday, 1 February 2020 from the Bureau of Meteorology. Image source - Melb...ourne Storm Chasers. Information source - Bureau of Meteorology. With the humidity lingering overnight from Friday, storms will continue to generate heavy rainfalls in the South West during Saturday morning. A front will enter the SW of the State in the early hours of Saturday morning, behind the front the storm risk drops off significantly. Ahead of the front storms are initially likely to produce heavy falls and damaging winds initially, as the front progresses across the state the risk starts to change to damaging winds and large hail. The most significant storms for hail are forecast along the frontal passage, as this is where we expect to see the most storm organisation. #Western Vic: Heavy falls and damaging winds. #Central Vic: Heavy falls, damaging winds and large hail. #Eastern Vic: Damaging winds and large hail. - Nick -

24.01.2022 The thunderstorm forecast below is the CURRENT thunderstorm forecast for tomorrow, Friday, 14 February 2020 from the Bureau of Meteorology. Image source - Melbo...urne Storm Chasers. Information source - Bureau of Meteorology. Unstable conditions across Victoria Friday with widespread potential for thunderstorms. Severe thunderstorms with heavy rain and/or large hail are possible across Victoria from the mid-morning and may persist overnight. Severe thunderstorms are likely over western and central districts during the afternoon and evening. A weak trough is expected to drift over the western and central districts during the afternoon/evening, this will have some impact on triggering thunderstorms, however, chaotic develop of storms is expected as cold pools and outflows from thunderstorms are likely to be the dominant trigger. The instability persists in the late evening as a weak upper trough and divergence may promote mid-level storms continuing overnight for central districts. Large hail risk; significant unstable atmospheric profile across western and central districts during the afternoon and evening indicates strong vertical motion in potential storms which may produce large hail during the afternoon/evening, most likely near/east of the weak surface trough. Heavy rain risk; high precipitable water loading in the atmosphere across Victoria, combined with light steering winds indicate the is potential for heavy rain with thunderstorms across the State. The highest areas of risk are with likely convergence zones near the ranges extending from the Grampians, through the ranges north and east of Melbourne, including the Otways, and to the far north east. Also possible with the weak surface trough over the western and central districts in the afternoon/evening. Hourly rainfall rates with thunderstorms may exceed 30mm, 6 hourly rainfall rates may exceed 50mm, and total event precipitation may exceed 60mm. Damaging winds are not considered to be a significant risk Friday, though there is potential for low end damaging wind gusts of 80-90km/h with storm outflow and cold pools, this would be most likely in the afternoon/evening with stronger thunderstorms over the western and central districts. - Nick -

21.01.2022 * VICTORIAN THUNDERSTORM FORECAST FOR TODAY, TUESDAY, 11 FEBRUARY 2020 * Image source - Melbourne Storm Chasers. Information source - Bureau of Meteorology.... Thunderstorms are a slight risk over the northeast of Victoria this morning. However most thunderstorm activity today will again be during the afternoon and evening as humid and unstable conditions continue near and east of a trough through central Victoria. This trough will move slowly east during the afternoon decreasing the risk in the west of the marked area although lift onto mountains and local convergence may still trigger a thunderstorm. Storms may become severe during the afternoon and early evening in the indicated area, the main threat today being heavy rainfall due to slow movement of storms and large amounts of available moisture. Large hail is also a slight risk. - Nick -

With increased ...time spent indoors during the cooler months CFA is reminding residents to use these products safely. 15.01.2022 Meet (from left to right) Station Officer Louisa De Silvo, Firefghter Nicole Moult, Firefighter Lauren Williams, Firefighter Nikki Upton and Firefighter Emily B...utler - making up an all-female crew on shift at Chelsea Fire Station last Sunday. Louisa, Nikki and Emily are stationed at Chelsea, while Nicole and Lauren were dispatched to join them on standby from Deptford and Dockhead fire stations respectively. It was Nikki's first-ever all-female fire engine in her ten years career. Weve come along way since the first operational woman firefighter in London in 1982 but an all female crew is still incredibly rare. We will continue to challenge the notion that firefighting is a male only role and promote how rewarding the career is for all. All young women should feel that this is a viable job. You CAN be what you CAN see!

15.01.2022 On Wednesday 29th April 2020 at 5:40pm a number of Brigades across the State including GEMBROOK Fire Brigade will be sounding their Brigade Station Siren four times as a mark of respect to the four Victorian Police Officers who tragically lost their lives in the line of duty last week. #emergencyservicesfamily #victoriapolice #cfa There is no reason to be concerned or alarmed should you hear one or more Brigade sirens sounding tomorrow at 5.40pm.

11.01.2022 Over the past few days CFA brigades were called to a number of out-of-control burn-offs If you're using the great weather to clean-up your property for fire s...eason, make sure you conduct your burn-off safely. A burn-off, if not extinguished properly can re-ignite days after the original burn. Keep your burn-off safe and legal: Check fire restrictions with your local council and register your burn on 1800 668 511 Check and monitor weather conditions particularly wind To avoid unnecessary calls to emergency services, notify your neighbours beforehand Leave a three metre fire break, free from flammable materials around the burn Have sufficient equipment and water to stop the fire spreading Never leave a burn-off unattended stay for its entire duration If your burn-off gets out of control, call ‘000’ immediately

09.01.2022 Dear wonderful people Despite our hopes, due to the Federal Government's decision to ban public gatherings of more than 500 people, we are obliged to postpone S...o Long Summer 2020. After a long 10 months of planning, meetings and late nights - we are gutted, but deeply know it is the right move to respect the sensitive health issue at present by postponing until further notice. We are super grateful for the excitement leading up to Sunday, but the health and well being of our community, crew, volunteers and children involved is most important. We are yet to pick a new date, but hope that you can be a part of our Bands in the Bush Festival sometime next Summer, and continue to stay in touch with us. We will be contacting all stall holders, food vendors, businesses and sponsors in due course to make alternative arrangements. We appreciate your patience in this situation. Thank you for your support and patience and watch this space! - So Long Summer crew

08.01.2022 Today we mark one year since the start of the devastating bushfires which deeply affected Victorian communities across the state. On 21 November, 2019 the first... ‘code red’ fire danger rating in almost a decade was declared in the Mallee and Northern Country, and dry lightning strikes in East Gippsland that started three fires which grew to a widespread bushfire disaster that burned for months. Today we reflect on the devastation and challenges that followed 21 November and the incredible support from all emergency services who came together to aid the communities impacted by the unprecedented fire season. 08.01.2022 * VICTORIAN THUNDERSTORM FORECAST FOR TODAY, FRIDAY, 23 OCTOBER 2020 * Image source - Melbourne Storm Chasers. Information source - Bureau of Meteorology.... Thunderstorms are an increasing risk today as warm, humid and unstable air moves across Victoria ahead of an approaching low and associated trough. Conditions are broadly unstable today, storms are more likely in the north and particularly across the Mallee this evening as the low approaches. The humid environment means that most thunderstorms will have associated heavy downpours, with the risk that some of these will reach severe criteria. This is also possible with showers today and rain tonight over parts of Victoria and a separate severe weather warning is current. Large hail is possible across eastern Victoria today with significant instability resulting in the later development of cloudy skies. Locally damaging winds are possible with some thunderstorms across far northwest and eastern Victoria this afternoon, mainly Gippsland with higher surface temperatures and the slight risk of a more organised line moving off the ranges. There is also the slight risk of discrete supercell thunderstorms developing about the far east this afternoon. - Nick -

03.01.2022 Cockatoo residents may see or smell smoke from the ignition of the Wright Forest, Cockatoo planned burn tomorrow (Thursday 25 February). A speed reduction will... be in place on Bailey Road and a number of tracks in Wright Forest will be closed while the burn is being carried out. Weather permitting, the burn will be completed by late Thursday afternoon and crews will remain on site throughout the night and in coming days to patrol the burn. This is a planned burn for asset protection and is around 20.6 hectares. It is focussed on helping to protect communities in Cockatoo and surrounds by slowing the spread of bushfires and providing opportunities for our firefighters to conduct successful suppression operations during bushfire response. Under the current public health advice, planned burning is continuing across Victoria. During the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we continue to work closely with the Department of Health and Environment Protection Authority to ensure we keep the smoke impacts from planned burning as low as practically possible. Our crews are adhering to appropriate physical distancing and hygiene requirements to ensure we can safely continue our operations across the state. 01.01.2022 STATE OF DISASTER Melbourne will head into a harsh Stage 4 lockdown from 6pm tonight, as Regional Victoria prepares for Stage 3 from Wednesday. For at least ...six weeks, Melburnians will be unable to travel more than 5kms from their homes, with just one person from each household allowed out to shop each day. One hour of exercise will be permitted daily, while police will enforce a strict curfew from 8pm to 5am -- between these hours, the only reasons to leave the house will be going to work, and giving or receiving care. Supermarkets and pharmacies will remain open and takeaway food services available, with more updates to come on which businesses will be forced to completely close down. All students across the State will return to online learning from Wednesday, with Tuesday to be a pupil free day. #staysafe #cfavic Please stay safe

01.01.2022 Hello Gembrook, Nice now the lockdown has eased and we are all free to move around with the lesser restrictions. As a result of the 5 km rule during the lock do...wn we have had an increase in custom and I really appreciate that. I feel very lucky as I know many people have lost jobs and businesses and there are still long roads ahead. For the support given to me I felt it appropriate to give something back to the community. Today I have purchased a defibrillator to be located at the store for anybody to use. Have a look at the short video attached and it will explain where to find it and how to use it. You can tell I’m no news reader but you will get the idea. Thanks again for your support. Andrew & Team
