24.01.2022 Second water harvesting rainforest path has been cut thanks to Restore-A-Saurus here

24.01.2022 This looks like a nice spot for a water catching swale path!

24.01.2022 Challanging day today, but I got the bottom rainforest swale completed. Had a few erosion problems in the low spots after last downpour but have dozer bladed fill to raise them up and get the sections more even. Also connected the paths around a big tree which needed a fair bit of fill and a road joining top one to bottom one. ... Will make a video once its all done

23.01.2022 Big day today dozer blading the paths to cut the high points and fill in the low spots. Managed to cut out the dual roadway join and finish the 3rd and last organic matter water retention pit up the top with long spill way. Last day tomorrow and I'm gonna be loading and hauling compost all day.

18.01.2022 Back in the dirt today digging another water catcher and organic matter holder. Was a bit hard to get started today with wet soil but managed to complete this before nightfall. Build a 20m spillway on the back of it to really slow down the overflow.

15.01.2022 First machine stand down of the project. Some nice gentle rain is soaking into the swales

15.01.2022 Got a rock grab and currently loading up on goodies for the pits. Raw wooden flinches from a guitar maker and human waste compost on a massive scale. About two days of work moving it. A bigger truck next time would make it go many times faster as strapping the wood down and carefully loading takes a bit of time. Cant wait to put it in the pits!

14.01.2022 Mega water catching and compost holding pit dug. Still some levels to do but the micro organisms are gonna love this

12.01.2022 Fertility pit two walkthrough

12.01.2022 Met a celebrity in the dirt today. Jim the giant worm

08.01.2022 Water catching pit doing exactly what it was meant to do! Ideally you want to fill these with organic wicking materials before they fill up and cover all exposed soil. You cant control when it rains tho.

08.01.2022 Alot of damage has been done to the environment using heavy machinery and the most rapid way to repair is to use heavy machinery in a contructive way. Catching and harvesting the water in natural environment is essential and gives the natural systems a chance to recover themselves.

08.01.2022 This is a aerial view of the hill we will be working on. The goal is to dig water harvesting pits with as little impact to the existing vegetation as possible.

07.01.2022 Great to see some life returning to the swales with the rain after disturbing the soil. These are cow peas - nitrogen fixers / ground cover and a termite highway heading uphill towards the fertility pits

05.01.2022 MIND BLOWN Big day today with my friend Alan from Professional Operator Training and Assessment Queensland. We ripped the bottom of the eco tub so that water can escape underground and benefit everything downslope. We also got the banks level and slightly sloping back into the tub so that excess rain will flow backwards. We also carved out a spillway to divert excess water in case of mass rain events filling this tub.

05.01.2022 And thats a wrap, earthworks are over. Let the revegetation begin

04.01.2022 The soil moving dinosaur has arrived! What should we call it?

04.01.2022 Amazing interview with Sepp Holzer that explains the importance of water in a healthy ecosystem

03.01.2022 Greased, refueled and ready to dig some more water harvesting pits

03.01.2022 Organic matter does matter!

03.01.2022 This is a slower walkthrough of the site. Up top you will see the fertility trenches filled in and the spillways coming off those. All the paths were cut to tilt in towards the hill meaning water is caught and stored rather than running off and causing all kinds of problems further down.

03.01.2022 Now we're talking. This is the stuff dreams are made of. Planning to fill these holes completely on friday with cardboard and pieces of wood

02.01.2022 Woodfordia rainforest rehabilitation swale path 2.0 is starting now.
