18.01.2022 Here's my candidate statement - . I am a local travel business owner. Having spent most of my life in this shire I have seen many changes. . I would like to see Maldon and the Mount Alexander Shire thrive not just survive in a post covid world. I would advocate for council to promote and market this region to assist local businesses to recover. ... . I believe we are becoming an urban sprawl without the infrastructure or facilities to handle the increase in population which is not sustainable. . We need to be progressive and encourage new diverse businesses to this shire along with improving footpaths and roads for safety. . My family are and have been active members of many local clubs and sporting communities. I have been a netball coach, player, and committee member for many years. . I am an active member of the Maldon Easter Fair committee and volunteer in the community when needed. I will pursue increased and continued support for recreation facilities for all. I support grassroots events with sponsorship and helping new events get up with less red tape. . I would like to see more balance when dealing with and protecting heritage features and the environment. . More council driven mental health initiatives, which I believe is essential now. . I strongly believe that local businesses deserve to be treated fairly when applying for tenders something I think has been lacking in the past. . I would like to see a decrease in our excessive garbage fees, one of the most expensive in the state. . I find myself with the passion and the time to serve this community. I ask for your support. 18.01.2022 I live in Gower and do so to enjoy the peace of country life. I love to walk my dogs in Muckleford Nature Reserve, shop, wander & browse in Maldon, climb the tower on Tarrengower and spend summer days at Lake Cairn Curran. . Genis from Legion Office Works said today that "I'm an old local with new ideas". Being born, raised & educated in Castlemaine with 5 generations on both sides of my family from here - I suppose I am an old local. That doesn't mean I object to change or... new locals. . I am a business owner and traveller I have been involved with many different people with diverse values and ideals. I am open and willing to understand a different point of view to get things done in a timely manner.
