25.01.2022 Client: Tankk Gourmet Fish and Chips Project: Kids Corner Underwater Mural Paul and Anna from Tankk Gourmet Fish and Chips needed a splash of colour to brighten up their kids corner at the newly opened Hawaiian Melville Tankk store. With a dreamy colour pallet of pink, green, yellow, blue and coral and an underwater theme I got to work to create an engaging and playful piece of art that captured the imagination of the kids that storm through each day for their after swimming ...slushies. 23.01.2022 It goes without saying that life can feel overwhelming at the moment. Uncertainty is a constant and the unknown is becoming way more familiar that most humans like it to be. As an extrovert that thrives on doing everything thats now not allowed its easy to feel like Im just keeping my head above water while we keep each other safe in self isolation. Thankfully this outbreak has come at a time when our ability to communicate with anyone ANYWHERE in the world is as easy as f...licking on a light switch. Which means that while we are alone we dont have to be lonely. Pick up a phone and call or FaceTime someone - forget about text messages and enjoy the simple pleasure of hearing someones voice. 22.01.2022 I recently had the privilege of being part of the Mount Hawthorn Playgroup revamp. The playgroup has been running from the City of Vincent Community Centre in Mount Hawthorn for almost 25 years and is an integral part of the local community. The aim of the 2020 refurbishment was to refresh the venue into a modern and vibrant family friendly space. Combining both City of Vincent Community budget grant funds and fundraising efforts, Playgroups President Sarah Schmidt, and the c...ommittees vision for the space took shape. Being a space that is utilised by ages from newborn to 5 years old the mural needed to be one that was bright, vibrant, full of life and playful to capture the imagination of the little ones coming through. It also however needed to have adult appeal as the space is used as venue hire for parties and community groups. In case youre wondering what I do or who I am ... My name is Pippa. People always ask who George and Gina are. Basically they are me, my middle name is Georgina so I just split it and got all creative. Im a graphic designer with a Fine Art and Photography degree, who now paints murals and illustrates ...for a living. Honestly it doesnt get any better than that! Me in a nutshell: I LOVE colour, my motto is if it works in nature its a go. Nature is a massive inspiration of mine and would more often prefer to be out in it than stuck in doors. I love creating on all levels, whether its painting, drawing, cooking, sewing, dancing. All of life is art and creativity should be something that just naturally flows. I think you can find beauty in just about anything if you look long and well enough. Music is an essential for life! There is a song for every mood and Im thankful for my ears everyday! And you cant have music without dancing, which should never be limited to a specific place or time. If it moves you, move your body. Which is also a work hazard for me being up ladders and having to paint straight lines I believe in kindness. Equality. Compassion. And fate. Your only limits are the ones you place on yourself and if you want it bad enough youll find a way! Im sassy, laugh too loud, borderline inappropriate and have a huge heart. 19.01.2022 Client: The Kai Fella Foundation, Far East Consortium, SBS, Nova 93.7 and Trilogy Project: The Kai Fella Foundation TV Commercial Together with Far East Consortium, SBS, Nova 93.7, The Kai Fella Foundation and Trilogy I recently created the illustrations and artwork for The Kai Fella Foundation campaign.... With story boards provided by Trilogy I crafted illustrations for each scene, from rough initial sketches to finished stills which were then expertly turned into the animated masterpiece featured in this post. I gave careful considerations and research behind colour theory related to depression, isolation, fear and despair - reflecting the first part of the commercial. Conversely equal and careful consideration was placed on colour theory behind hope, joy and new opportunity in the second half of the commercial. The Kai Fella Foundation - educates young boys and men about mental health, suicide prevention and gives them the space to talk openly about their feelings. A safe space where they can feel seen, heard and understood. 16.01.2022 Client: Naala Djookan Project: Therapeutic Art Classes for women of domestic violence. We’re into week 2 of the therapeutic art classes at the City of Stirling, Naala Djookan centre with numbers doubling from last week, which a incredible to see. The women that come to these classes aren’t necessarily artist or even have had exposure to art classes, but their shared experiences and common bond creates a safe space to learn, express and create without judgement on how good th...eir creations are. I start the session off with people having the space to share who they are and where they are at in terms of their domestic violence journey. The practise opens up space for all to be seen and heard and know that they are united in some way through a shared life experience. We create pieces that are simple enough so that everyone feels a sense of achievement and accomplished by the end of the session. They get to interpret the piece I’ve created for the day through their own lens and experience - with my guiding and helping in brush techniques, how to apply layered shading and aspects of colour theory and composition. The imaged needed to convey a sense of wonder and excitement around the adventures contained in a book. Where stories literally jump off the page and captures the readers imagination.... Reading is one of the most magical things you can ever do. Every time you open a book you literally open up new worlds of possibility, adventure, excitement and imagination. 13.01.2022 Client: Funda Wanda, Cape Town South Africa Project: Pre covid Funda Wanda, (who create print and video materials training educators on how to teach reading for meaning in grades R3 learners in their home language) contacted me to create illustrations for their Afrikaans language reader for Pre Primary. Each illustration worked around each page of the story, creating an engaging educational material that not only facilitated home based language exploration and learning but c...onversation starter as well as the children searched through the illustrations searching for characters and elements in the story. It’s been many years since I’ve spoken or read Afrikaans, so being able to pick up the language again and refresh my vocab was just as enjoyable as creating the illustrations themselves. 11.01.2022 LYNTON STREET, MOUNT HAWTHORN - SPLASH OF COLOUR PROJECT: Just wrapped up an awesome project with the @watercorporation. Everything was under wraps until the Minister for Water @davekelly_mp and @johncareyperth had a chance to go to the site and share the project. Loved every minute of this mural, it pushed me to learn new things - I plastered the building first - all 41sqm of it. (Never sell yourself short on what you can achieve even if it is bloody hard work! The finished ...piece wouldnt have been the same without that step so the pain and scars were totally worth it!) The whole piece was inspired by my walks around Lake Monger, observing the Great Easter Egret. Theyre such patient birds, taking their time, waiting for the right moment so go for what they want. 10.01.2022 A new book Im illustrating has a story line that travels between Australia and Africa, so Ive been spending a lot of time researching African culture, ceremonial clothing and of course music Growing up in Africa I was fortunate enough to be exposed to so many of the rich cultures that have moulded and shaped the continent. European, Asian, Indian, the neighbouring islands of Mauritius and Reunion as well as the rest of the subcontinent. This piece was inspired by @angeli...quekidjo song Agolo which is steeped in the rich culture and spirituality of Benin. Her music was a big part of my childhood and every time I saw the video for Agolo it was mystical and awe inspiring experience. Perth publishing house Red Paper Kite is extending their search for illustrators and this months theme to to illustrate their slogan: BEWARE - Magic fairies, hungry bears, fire-breathing dragons, and warrior princesses inside. For me every picture has a back story that unfolds in my head but I never write them out. This time I thought Id let you inside my imagination and accompany the image with a self written short story.... From from behind a corner a mama bear watch her little girl take on the world. Engrossed in her adventure, her imagination at play. A top a pile of cushions, wooden sword in hand, swishing from side to side calling on her teddy, dragon and fairies to fight the good fight. Eugene had a heart as wild and strong as the monsoon season in May. Fearless to the core, she faced monsters, with a sword in one hand and a fire in her belly - ready to take on the world. Never far behind her trusty companions were right by her side - Nuri, as colourful as the rainbow with fire burning white and Orsino, taller than mountains, covered in ink, always hungry but ready to fight. Through forests ancient, faeries guided their way, lighting their path and warding evil away. With a twitch of their nose and flick of their wands they grant magical powers to the wildling - making her brave and unafraid. With a heart as big as the moon and love as strong as the tide she warded off monsters with an ease in her stride. 07.01.2022 Client: Wonder Magazine Project: 2020 Spring Edition Cover I recently had the privilege of collaborating with the gorgeous Tarah from Melbourne based kids publication, Wonder Magazine. to create their 2020 Spring edition magazine cover. The brief was to create a bedroom in a dreamy forest with a friendship between two diverse young girls, and the rest was up to me.... I absolutely freaking love a brief like that! Full reign to let my imagination go where it wants and settle in the most magical places. I hope you enjoy this little corner of magical naivety, wonderment and childhood bliss. X

07.01.2022 CLIENT: Water Corporation PROJECT: Splash of Colour, Oban Road, City Beach Pump Station Another great project in conjunction with the @watercorporation and @townofcambridge to transform a once dull pump station into a street art piece that emulates the town of Cambridge.... The artwork reflects the many parks and lush greenery of the area as well as the pristine coastline. The colour pallet was carefully considered to incorporate the blues of the ocean, greens of the parklands and trees, and the base colour to reflect the sandy beaches along the coast. Splash of colour aims to reflect the local water story and having the ocean feature with surfing and boating was a key element to this project. As well as the Norfolk pines which are unmistakable for the area. The Crested Turns are also a well known bird in the area so also pay homage to locally found flora and fauna. I absolutely love researching the area these pump stations are situated in and then relaying the local unique flora and fauna into the design. @ Empire Village

05.01.2022 Growing up I must have watched Mary Poppins a million times but never read the book until this year - spoiler alert, the book is better! Way better Being a branding designer for so many year making sure the design was as on brand as possible to the colour pallet that would have been used during the Edwardian times was first priority. Then focusing on the smaller details around the lamp embroidery, font choice for the cough syrup bottle and the style of kite used during that... time period. Couldnt help but to create something magical for the @plum_agency artist call out. This term well be learning about one of the most eccentric artist Pablo Picasso. Firstly learning about the artist himself, his more weird and wacky traits and some of his work. The path had recently been painted grey and they wanted to breath some life into the space.... The mural needed to be appealing to ages from 0 - 5, educational, interactive, and engage imagination, gross motor skills as well as being something the children would find fun without it being too apparently learning based. As children we are always convinced that not only is the boogeyman real, but is in every shadow, under every bed and behind every door. The boogeyman is a perfect example of a wrong or misinterpreted perception of a sensory experience, with their young minds playing tricks on them seeing whats not there.... In Haitian culture the boogeyman, Metminwi, is described as being a man with incredibly long legs, who walks around town at midnight to catch and eat anyone who is still outside. We are delighted to share with you the new TV and radio commercial that will be seen across SBS Australia and Nova 937. 02.01.2022 Recently had THE BEST commissioned piece come my way. The client wanted a quirky art piece made up for her husband for Fathers Day. It needed to have a sailor, octopus, gold fish and eels and the rest was up to me! To say I’m had fun with this piece is a massive understatement! Here’s to all the odd balls out there
