17.01.2022 SchoolTV - Raising Boys // Many parents will attest to the fact that most boys are active, loud, rambunctious and prone to rough play, but this should not affect how a parent acts towards their son. Be careful not to pigeon-hole your son into sex-specific behaviours or gender roles. The male brain is distinctly different in its development. A boy’s physical maturity is often at odds with his mental and brain development. Societal beliefs about how to raise boys can sometimes ...influence their adult carers. Although we are not determined by our biology, it is a factor. It is important to support boys in their natural tendencies and nurture their strengths and abilities. Teach them the skills they need for their future and to develop a healthy identity. It is important for boys to have a role model they can connect with and acknowledge who they are. One of the most important determinants for a boy’s development is how secure they feel growing up. In this edition of SchoolTV, adult carers will gain a better understanding of some of the more complex issues relating to raising boys. We hope you take time to reflect on the information offered in this month’s edition, and we always welcome your feedback. If you do have any concerns about the wellbeing of your child, please contact the school for further information or seek medical or professional help. 17.01.2022 Boys in Education Parent Event // Have you booked your tickets? Click here to book your free ticket: https://www.trybooking.com/events/landing?eid=659675& WELL DONE MY SON... A PARENT WORKSHOP ABOUT BOYS, THE FUTURE AND YOU What makes a boy a good man? This question is one that has been asked by cultures since time began and how we answer it now in a time of rapid change and an uncertain future is critical to how well we cope over the next five years and possibly the next fifty. This engaging but challenging workshop investigates what being a boy in Australia today and what the new academic, social and emotional skills which are most likely to help us thrive in a world that could change tomorrow. Greg Mitchell has been teacher and a parent for over forty years and has risen from a poor, dysfunctional background to become an expert in teaching and learning, disability, and social emotional health. He is totally engaging, radically honest, thoroughly practical, and amazingly optimistic about the challenges we all face in raising our children in difficult times. PLEASE NOTE If you only have girls come along too, who knows they might marry a boy one day and you might just need some help.

09.01.2022 Community // Lovely teachers and beautiful students of Geraldton Grammar School. Love and greetings from isolated Central Coast of New South Wales. We cannot be with you this year after such a wonderful visit last year when we were treated such warmth and respect. What a year, the most affected year ecologically in my 82 years. Continuing drought, most extensive and explosive bushfires across Australia and West coast of USA, floods and pestilence.... The worst worldwide pandemic since 1919 affecting the whole world with nobody unaffected in health, in work and income, inability to move freely. BUT the good news; we have learned to work together, help and support each other in new and forgotten ways. So until next year: May the Lord love and protect you, may His face shine upon you and give you Peace. Love from Sophie and Zara’s grandparents Bronwen and Ken Green

The displays of artwork in numerous mediums, photographs, woodwork, robotics, cakes and much more showcased the talent, passion and respect our students have for the arts. It was a great day and it just didn’t feel right not having parents on campus to enjoy what the staff and students got to witness yesterday but hopefully, by next year, we will be able to share events with our community again.
