15.01.2022 A Study that examins Mask Effectiveness by Type found A growing body of evidence suggests that wearing a mask effectively protects the wearer and those around him from the spread of COVID-19. A new study by Duke University researchers evaluated the effectiveness of 14 different types of masks by estimating how many droplets traveled through the mask during normal speech. N95 masks that are fitted with no exhalation valve proved to be the most effective.However, the ...CDC warns that these are in limited in supply and should be reserved for health care workers and first responders. Next most effective are 3-layer surgical masks, single use. These were followed by a variety of cloth masks, valved-N95s, and masks with one or two layers. The least effective was found to be a gaiter style neck garments, fleeces, knits and bandanas. Their fabric is often too porous to prevent SarsCoV2 droplets from slipping through. See more

14.01.2022 With the significant increase in uptake of vaccination this year, our initial supply of 2020 Flu Vaccine has been exhausted. But, we are expecting our next supply to arrive sometime around Late May. We will put up a post on our Facebook page to let you know when that arrives. In the meantime, keep up the good work with social distancing.

11.01.2022 Reduce waiting time at the pharmacy by ordering in advance using the MedAdvisor App. The App is quite user friendly and has loads of features including the ability to pay for your order using your credit card. If you are not already using our App, send your details including mobile number and email to [email protected] . Once you are set up we will send you a confirmation text with instructions on how to set up. We will not have the resources to monitor other platforms like Messenger for medication requests so please use this App. If you are in quarantine we can arrange delivery to your home in the local and surrounding area.

04.01.2022 23 January China took decisive action and put Wuhan into total lockdown. At that stage, the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases across mainland China was 628 while the death toll was 17. This morning I am reading that in Australia we have over 1,000 CONFIRMED cases. I am not sure what our government is waiting for. Right now, the best thing everyone can do is stay at home and be informed on how to limit the spread of COVID-19. Support our doctors, nurses and allied h...ealth professionals (who need to continue to work through this) by heeding their advice. There is no need to panic or stress. We can all make a big start by just taking better responsibility for our own personal hygiene. While I am not normally a big fan of Facebook, I suggest everyone Like or Follow the Pharmacy page to keep up to date with what changes are happening at the pharmacy. Expect another post later today. 03.01.2022 We have just received a limited supply of flu vaccines this morning. If you have already left a script with us, call before you come up, and we can get it ready for you to collect.We will be supplying on a first to collect basis, we will not be able to take names and hold stock. If you miss out this time we are expecting more at the end of May.

02.01.2022 Additional supplies of the 2020 Flu Vaccines have just arrived. If you have left your FluVax script with the pharmacy it will be available to pick up from 9.00am this Monday.

01.01.2022 Supplies of the 2021 Influenza Vaccine are now available at Gerringong Pharmacy. For most people wanting to receive the Flu Vaccination there are two options: 1) Make an appointment with your usual GP to get the shot. Check if you need collect a Fluvax from the pharmacy on your way to that appointment or... 2) You can now book to have the FluVax at the pharmacy via the MedAdvisor App. In the app, go to the Pharmacy Tab, click on Profession Services then BOOK New Service. Select Flu Vaccination and select a date and time. Confirm and you are done. When you arrive at the pharmacy there will be some documentation to complete before receiving the vaccine. After you receive the vaccination, you will be required to remain at the Pharmacy a minimum of 15min just to be sure you do not have any adverse reactions. Remember that you will need two weeks gap between getting a Flu Vax and getting a COVID-19 vax, so it may be a good idea to get that FluVax ticked off your to-do list sooner rather than later. Some people are entitled to get the Flu Vax for FREE and and will simply need to make an appointment with their GP. This group includes everyone over 65 years, infants 6 months to 5 years, Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islanders, Pregnant woman and people with certain chronic conditions.
