25.01.2022 Kwinana Public Library in Western Australia is hosting a free author talk with Changing Ways creator Justin Randall tomorrow, Thursday 22 Aug at 4:30pm. Justin will be demonstrating some of the techniques he utlises as a multiple award-winning graphic novelist and storyteller! This is a free event, open to the public, and suitable for ages 13+.

19.01.2022 Fourteen years ago today, we registered a company by the name of Gestalt Publishing Pty Ltd. Thats fourteen years of making professional comics in Australia. Were still here, and were still making comics. Heres a glimpse at the launch party we held at Clancys Fish Pub Canning Bridge that helped us kick it all off (and yes, Wolfgang Bylsma IS sporting a ponytail in these pics). Heres to the next fourteen years.

18.01.2022 Get ready for a deep dive into graphic novels as an educational resource, as Reading Australia have created an invaluable Teacher Resource for the first volume in The Deep Series of graphic novels! Recipient of the Aurealis Award for Best Graphic Novel, THE DEEP VOL.1: HERE BE DRAGONS is written by Tom Taylor, illustrated by James Brouwer, and edited by Wolfgang Bylsma.

17.01.2022 Declan Miller, one of the teenagers that Wolfgang Bylsma and Brenton Mckenna have been mentoring thanks to The Indigenous Literacy Foundation, was awarded 2021 Centralian Young Citizen of the Year at a ceremony in Alice Springs yesterday. Declan has been working on his graphic novel series, Mixed Feelings, for four years. The first book in the series is due for publication mid-2021, as a joint initiative between the ILF and Gestalt. We feel honoured to be working with Declan ...and all at Stick Mob, the Alice Springs studio he helped found, as they tell their stories. We'll have further announcements about Mixed Feelings, and other Stick Mob graphic novels soon!

16.01.2022 Lustration is an all-new comic series written by Ryan J Griffen (creator of Cleverman) and illustrated by James Brouwer (co-creator of The Deep). Ryan will be a Gestalt Comics guest at Supanova Comic Con & Gaming Sydney, 22-23 June 2019, where hell also be signing our Cleverman comics!

12.01.2022 Reading Australia has published a tremendous resource for teacher librarians and educators to use with The Deep Series of graphic novels by Tom Taylor and James Brouwer! Were currently offering special educational pricing on class sets for schools so more students can engage with these multiple award-winning all-ages Australian-made graphic novels!

12.01.2022 As production wrapped on the Eldritch Kid: Bone War graphic novel, a different kind of production was just beginning...! Griffith University invited us to work with animation students on a special project, supervised by Bone War artist Dr. Paul Mason himself. With a script by Christian D. Read, the students developed and produced a short animation -- The Eldritch Kid: Juggernaught -- and its now available to watch online!

04.01.2022 Researchers at UTS: University of Technology Sydney, The University of Melbourne and RMIT University are conducting an online survey to study the working lives of Australian comics makers, illustrators and others who have a visual narrative skill set. They hope to understand how artists are using their visual narrative skills across various industries and to describe professional relationships in which artists are making an income. Findings will help shape future government arts policy and help artists better understand the opportunities and challenges of their industry.

03.01.2022 Channeling some NEOMAD vibes, the new live-action drama Thalu premieres TONIGHT at 6.30PM on NITV! The live-action series focuses on a group of Indigenous children, who undertake a journey to save their Country from the threat of a mysterious dust cloud and its inhabitants, the Takers. Produced by Tyson Mowarin and Robyn Marais at Weerianna Street Media in association with Bernadette OMahony from the ACTF, Thalu takes Roebourne community stories and weaves Ngarluma culture with the classic heroes journey shot in and around Roebourne. The show is an ode to the Pilbara and its people.
