17.01.2022 This was my initial post to the Elwood 3184 Facebook group

16.01.2022 Background history..... There have been community efforts to get a pedestrian crossing installed on Glen Huntly Rd near Elwood Primary School for the past 10 years. I started a petition on change.org back in March and was overwhelmed by the community support it received - there's a link attached to this post of you haven't signed it yet. I started lobbying the local council and local politicians in the run up to the state budget in May 2018. I also tabled the petition at a council meeting of the City of Port Phillip and they unanimously passed a motion to support they initiative and also contributed $50k in seed funding in the hope of prompting some action from the State government.

10.01.2022 David Waterston shared this on the @elwood3184 page back in May

02.01.2022 We made significant progress this week - James Newbury - the Liberal Party Candidate for Brighton (the replacement for Louise Asher MP) called me over the weekend to let me know that the Liberal Party will commit to building the crossing if elected in November. I hope to gain similar commitments from the Green Party and ALP over the next few months. Here's a link to the press release - https://www.matthewguy.com.au//smith-improving-school-cro/

01.01.2022 I received this letter from Louise Asher MP - the answer from the Minister for Roads - Luke Donnellan is not surprising but is still disappointing as this has been the position of the state government for the past 10 years!
