06.01.2022 Under 14 (Friday) Two Wells lost to Kangas 6 14 Batting first, Two Wells managed to cross home plate three times during the top of the first, Samuel Munroe-...Lynch and Armani Munroe-Lynch both featuring with nice hits. Tubiyas Stewart impressive on the mound for Kangas with a K2. He also backed it up during the bottom inning with a nicely timed hit, assisting Kangas to register seven runs during their first at bat. Two Wells managed to match their first inning effort in the top of the second, adding a further three runs to their tally largely due to a powerful strike to centre field from Logan Waters. Tubiyas Stewart with another K2 for Kangas. Kangas remarkably also matching their effort from their first bat, registering a further seven runs during the bottom of the second. Tubiyas Stewart busy once again in the batter’s box, this time crunching the ball through centre field and going on to score before time was called on a great display of softball by both sides. Giants Black drew with Giants Red 7 7 Tonight saw a giant of a game (pun intended) Giants Red Vs Giants Black in an U14 showdown. The game ended in a draw 7-7 with both teams coming together to do the Club cheer. Great sportsmanship was shown between the players with high 5’s as they ran past the plate. There was some aggressive running on display by both teams and some great fielding. All were also eager to show off their batting skills. With some great hits by Moreau Komene, Maddie Snaith and Danielle Kenny. Under 14 (Saturday) Giants Black drew with Two Wells 7 7 Both pitchers toiled well but their inexperience meant batters were mostly walked. Once on base they ran aggressively in order to score as quickly as they could. With teams only allowed to score seven runs the game ended in a draw as neither team could get the required outs before the runs were scored. Kangas lost to Trinity College 4 6 Three strike outs in the first innings from Zoe Marrich set up the win for Trinity College against Kangas. With Sophie Holt still learning how to handle the pitches a number of Kanga’s batters managed to scramble to first base, having received 3 strikes. Four runs scored as a result. Alix Hill tried hard to find the strike zone but Trinity’s batters found it hard to find a hit. Overly aggressive base running and some good fielding by Kangas did contribute to some outs. In the second innings two Kanga’s batters managed safe hits Lewis Rozenzweig, a triple and Kristina Bailey, a single. However the game reverted when time was called. U17s and Div 2 Kangas Blue lost to Giants 8 - 9 Giants started the game strongly when they retired Kangas without scoring. In return Giants were able to score 6 runs with disciplined batting and nice hits to Cassidy Barraclough and Sherie Gorton. Kangas fired back in the second innings with 6 runs and safe hits to Brooke Storton, Alix Hill, Fran Huddy, Allysha Mann and Kimberley Storton. They also gave themselves every chance of a win when they were able to retire Giants with only a run scoring. But Giants hit back only allowing 2 runs to score and setting up an exciting finish to the game. Needing 2 runs to win Giants lost their first batter but managed to score Imogen Krollig and Sherie Gorton to give Giants the win by 1 run. Two Wells U17 lost to Trinity College U17 7 14 Trinity College set up the win in the first innings when fielding first they held Two Wells to 0 Caitlin Holt catching a fly ball and also combining with Tara Lord at the plate to get 2 outs, retiring the team. In return Trinity managed to score 7 runs helped by strong outfield hits to Maddison Blackmore and Caitlin Holt. Two Wells responded with 7 runs in the top of the second innings helped by strong hits from Ethan Packham, Madison Carter, Molly Ruediger and Aiden McDougal. Caitlin Holt again featuring in the outs but Trinity were not able to get the third out before Two Wells scored 7 runs. Trinity came out swinging to score another 7 runs including another outfield hit from Maddison Blackmore and strong hit from Romeo Rom. Two Wells had strong hits from Ethan Packham and a home run from Brodie Smith but with Trinity not getting a third chance to bat the score reverted when time was called. Div 1 Two Wells lost to Bluejays 3 - 4 In what was the game of the day Bluejays defeated Two Wells 4-3 in a very exciting contest. Despite playing short Bluejays took the win with help from fielding efforts by Staci McKenzie, who took two catches at second and Megan Findlay-Smith and Sophie Bryan who had a work out chasing impressive hits from Two Wells players Sally Green and Krystal Doudle both went on to score runs. Nikki Ruediger was strong on the mound for Two Wells, finishing with a total of nine strike outs. Sophie Bryan (Bluejays) had a good game today holding her own with a brilliant effort with the bat, Kylie Turner also had a nicely placed hit aiding in the Bluejays tight victory. Today's other run scorers were Linda Rushton (Two Wells), Staci McKenzie and Rachael Bryan (Bluejays). Kangas defeated Giants 15 6 Kanga’s big hitters dominated to give them a convincing win against a brave Giants team. Kimberley Storton, Monica Roach, Joanne Pfeiffer, Nikki Schiller, Fran Huddy and Kelly Varcoe all had multiple safe hits throughout the game which meant that Giants were always under pressure in the field. Kat Ingram, Tahlia Sutton, Niommi Schrier, Hayley Dittmar and Kerry Hartope managed safe hits for Giants but it wasn’t enough to catch Kangas who were too strong both in the field and with the bat.
