24.01.2022 Evil cold... Today my nose ran fast away, It ran straight past the tissue, It grabbed my hearing, stabbed my throat,... And that's not the biggest issue! I've now gone deaf, my head - it thumps, My coughs scream great despair, My bed has whispered sweet welcome hello's, While my lungs sadly gasp for air! This lingering sickness, this cold of all colds, Is fired, is sacked; let go, I'm sorry, good health, I took you for granted, Oh, how I loved you, so! - Emily (Reporting from my bed watching Netflix with my tissue box and a heavy head).

22.01.2022 The rays of warmth sing praises of spring, With nests of life that songbirds bring, Our blooming beauties of colours unfold, To reveal the secrets of winter untold. - Emily Stead.... I love Spring! Today is such a beautiful, sunny day. Go forth and bask in this wonderful Vitamin D

22.01.2022 This poem could really be taken somewhere.... Here's the beginning! (Currently untitled - work in progress) by Emily Stead.... Stalling, upon but a wistful day, they came in two's and three's, Dressed like empty shells of hope, they flitted amongst the trees, They crouched up on the shadowed hill, with fear burnt in their eyes, The children of a stolen past; identity lost in lies. Ragged clothing with dirty edges, torn with gaping holes, Draped across a frail canvas; black eyes to match their souls, Though not by choice were tears surrendered, again in two's and three's, The broken cries of innocence travel, through an icy layered breeze...

19.01.2022 This is a poem I wrote for a customer as a Christmas present for her husband. The feedback I received was fantastic and I'm so glad they loved it! Apparently the recipient laughed alot throughout the poem, and could guess which memories each of his children contributed. It was an absolute pleasure to write! :) **Recipients name blanked out due to privacy reasons, and to maintain the personalised nature of the poem** The world sent its welcomes to a jubilant boy, on the 22nd J...Continue reading

17.01.2022 I've been asked before "Is there anything else like this in Australia?", to which my response is "No, there's not. If you search for this service, you will probably get something that isn't personalised, or is computerised. I offer a personal and unique experience, and create everything according to my customer. You get to choose everything that goes into your personalised poem - from the memories, to the theme of the paper, to the style of the actual poem itself. It's all ab...out you, your memories and the recipient the poem is being gifted to. I just string it all together in 8-10 rhyming verses and take all the guesswork out of it for you". Their response to that is always "Wow.... this is really an amazing gift, what a great service to offer". It truly is. It's a gift that I feel blessed to share with everyone. I'm truly grateful that more are hearing of this service, and are choosing a personalised gift for loved ones that will keep for years on end. It will never be thrown away, as it will always be cherished and remembered. Afterall, it's their life memories rolled into a sequenced timeline - who would throw out something so special? <3

14.01.2022 The Fallen Soldier by Emily Stead. She grasps his crisp shirt, inhaling his smell, before saying her next goodbyes, She kneels to the ground and embraces their young son, as she wipes the sad tears from her eyes,... She lifts him up to the hero, his father, her husband, the world's bravest soldier, He whispers so soft, to his beautiful wife, 'I'll be back in 12 months to hold ya'. She summons her strength for this day that she dreads, while he picks up his pack at the door, Hugging farewell and kissing goodbye, she wishes she could kiss him once more. Shaking her head and pushing through time, she reminds him she's 'his girl forever', Pain comes with sacrifice, life comes with sadness, but again, soon, they'll be together. Days turn to months, with no word to home, it's been some time since he's phoned, She's pacing the room with a heart filled with lead, he'd tell her if things were postponed, She grasps to the teddy he gave her that day, the very first date that they kissed, She screams out the anguish that's gripping her tight, at her soldier who is so dearly missed. Time never healed the black shadow that day, it swallowed my heart saved for him, As hours flew past, there was no life to live, the days - they were oh so dim. He never returned, that brave man, my love, as their deliverance rocked my reality, "I'm sorry, dear Ma'am, your husband has passed, his funeral will be finality". The years they float by, as our young son, now older, checks up on his old Mama bear, Always concerned from the screams that he heard, when I'd wake halfway through a nightmare, Thirty years passed without your generous soul, your wife, son and country are proud, You'll always be kept in this old heart of mine, til' the end just like we vowed.

13.01.2022 *note: includes swearing & not intended to offend anyone. Just a bit of Aussie humour ;) * Another Bloody Australian Poem... by Emily Stead. ... I love a sun-burnt country where flip flops are the norm, A snag or two on the BBQ, rain, hail, shine or storm, The magpies singing close to deck, planning a sneaky swoop, Crack a coldie' - let's all get drunk - hail the mighty troop! I love being an Aussie with the language set as slang, We'll often vow 'I shit you not' or yell 'you bloody wang!' We'll 'screw all this', fair dinkum mate - our language ain't a joke, We'll rail you into sharing grog when we're low or just plain broke. Listening to the top 100 with friends out on the deck, Oh wait - the bloody eskies empty - I'll be back in just a sec! We shuffle in our well worn thongs, our singlets barely clothes, Who freakin' cares, we're Aussie's mate, from our heads down to our toes! The blokes and Sheila's roll on in, the riverfront their perch, With Aussie tatt's and blown up thongs, shit tonnes of Aussie merch', Some are bogans, some are gold and some are undecided, Bogan or not, come to this arvy', and all will walk lopsided. I love being an Aussie and the friends you make by random, "G'day mate, can we join your game of cricket?' - the ball you hand him, He psyches right up, throws the ball full speed, you whack it like a pro, You cheer, you run, hi fives all round, while all enjoy the show! You'll always hear about the time something became a gutser, The shitter might be broken - dang! - someone forgot to flusher' We'll whack a fly, or zap a mozzie - which both will bring a cursin', But hey - this is Australia and I'm a damn proud Aussie person! HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY EVERYONE!

11.01.2022 If you're ever stuck on words to write, Call me up and I'll write them right! No bad grammar or lousy rhymes, I'll never commit punctuation crimes! ... I think Bec Hewitt should have called upon me to write her wedding day poem! I could have made this so much more memorable... Not that people DON'T remember it, but, I could have made it somewhat more poetically memorable for all the RIGHT reasons. ;)

10.01.2022 The rain - it brought a dampened spring, the birds all sound asleep, Though when there's water, there's pools of fun, in the puddles we can leap! What a rainy, spring day! Have a great Monday, everyone.

04.01.2022 Well, the last poem before Christmas was delivered on Monday to a very happy customer. Gifted Words by Emily was busy with about six poems before Christmas, and it was lovely to receive such beautiful and positive feedback from every single customer. Due to the personal nature of each individual poem, I cannot put them all up as examples of what I do, but, I will be taking photos at the start of next year of other poems I am currently writing for different people who won't mind me sharing them and their memories. This will give you all a better understanding of what I put my time, effort, love, passion and brainpower into! :) Stay tuned in the New Year for a giveaway comp as well... There's some gifted words to be given away and shared around! <3

04.01.2022 Christmas isn't far away! Contact me to talk about a unique and personalised Christmas gift :)

03.01.2022 It's been a sad time for my family and I, as we farewelled our 12 year old Labrador x Rottwheiler on Monday the 9th November, 2015. She was a beautiful part of our family and provided us with so much happiness in her time here on Earth. She was a true blessing to every person and animal that had the wonderful privilege of knowing her, and loving her. I wrote this poem in her memory and thought I would share it with everyone. It's the least she deserves, and I found it very ea...sy to write about such a kind and caring creature that created so much joy. <3 Rest in Peace, Lucy. 25/10/2003 - 09/11/2015. You graced our hearts with your smiling soul, your hugs, your love and kisses, When you left, we talked some time, about what each person misses. Our meaningful words could have went on for days, you were a bright light in our lives, But on November 9th, 2015, you took our hearts by no surprise. Lucy girl, Lou Lou, pretty girl - you, a loyal, mother hen to all, Always a wag of your tail each day, even with each stumble and fall, You were selfless - your care of each person and pet, always brought kindness; compassion, You'd always accept your number of treats in a clever and trick-or-treat fashion. A puppy so small, but a heart made of gold, shone right from the very start, A mischievous kind, but always too cute, except when you'd silently fart! You'd get up so slowly, look ever so coy, while it wafted in every direction, Promptly you'd leave and exit the room, but we'd still shower you with affection. As you lay there that day, on the table you hated, you ate your snacks treat by treat, As you devoured them loudly, with no care at all, I suddenly felt a sense of defeat, Your life as it was, no longer as happy, had come to a standstill of pain, Simple activities each day in your life, were starting to drive you insane. With a tight hug once more, and a giant kiss - again, we just couldn't leave you alone, Our baby, our girl, our loyal companion, we just miss you here at home, We whispered 'I love you's' and cried tears of love, for the spirit that stole every heart, Though time will move on, we'll never forget you, nor will we ever truly part. We love you, Lucy girl.... I miss you so much, and it's hard not having you greet me like you normally would with your animal friends - who are also missing you, and miss playing with you. You were the greatest, most beautiful, friendly and placid companion and we'll never forget you, old girl. I hope the rainbow bridge is beautiful, just like you. xx

02.01.2022 October brings a blooming warmth, With summer around the bend, It won't be long til' December comes, With money for Christmas to spend!... The last minute thoughts on presents to buy, For the person with all that's to own, Why not ask me - your poetry girl, Or call me up on the phone! I'll draft and I'll edit, I'll string it together, Your memories, your time here with them, A gift of your words - all blended to read - Just give me the paper and pen! For anyone interested in a unique and special Christmas present for friends or family, contact me today to organise a personalised poem for someone special in your life! :)

01.01.2022 Alas! The sun - though a late return, Sets fire to the heart of shade, It lights up the darkness in a changing world, Reappearance - hard, we prayed. - Emily S.... Who is glad the sun is back out today?! I want spring weather to stay just that... Spring. None of this everchanging winter/spring confusion with clouds, cold breezes and rain! = =
