19.01.2022 Opening of the new Hancock Bridge, between Brassall and Woodend, Ipswich 1961 Crowds at the official opening of the bridge, looking towards Brassall. The new Ha...ncock Bridge was officially opened by the then Mayor, Jim Finimore. The bridge is named after the Hancock family that had businesses in Ipswich. It replaced the small bridge that had been in existence since the early 1920s. It was built at a cost of 131,000 (See Queensland Times article 20 March 1961).
