24.01.2022 A few weeks ago we had our Flea Bog Flat Landcare Open day. An incredible group of passionate local Bruce residents got together to celebrate the site with a onsite GPS tour through the PocketSights app. We are hoping this pilot site will lead the way for more virtual tours within the Ginninderra Catchment.... #GinninderraCatchmentGroup #FleaBogFlat #PocketSights #OldWeetangeraRoad #GinninderraCreek #LandcareACT #Landcare #HealthyWaterways #BruceACT #LocalCreek #TransportCanberraandCityServices

22.01.2022 Looking for something to do on Mother's Day? How about a beautiful Bird walk at Mulligan's Flat on Sunday 9 May from 9am -11.30

21.01.2022 The Friends of Wangara Park had a great work party a few weekends ago, creating 2 large planting beds for native plants and shaping 3 smaller beds which will become a Native Bush Foods garden. More than 20 locals came out to help which is an AMAZING turnout. This project is funded by the TCCS Adopt A Park Program. This project will liven up a local park area and provide much needed habitat for our local birds and bees. The Bush Foods Garden will encourage locals to see how beautiful these plants are and maybe encourage them to try something new. Can't wait to see it when they are finished!

21.01.2022 Last weekend our Macgregor Landcare group had 16 people attend a Clean-Up event along the Ginninderra Creek. We had 16 people remove over 200kg of rubbish plus 2 car tires and a bike! 20.01.2022 An early good morning with Lish Fejer from ABC Canberra today talking grasslands in the west Belconnen area! At 48 mins take a listen to Dr Ken Hodgkinson Chair of GCG and Convenor, Native Grassland Restoration Landcare Group and Kat McGilp, GCG Coordinator.... There are some hidden grassland gems out there but what is their history? What are our groups doing to restore these areas and how can we learn from how the Ngunawal people have and do use them? Thanks for getting up early guys!! Landcare ACT #landcare #grasslands #nativeveg #grasslandrestoration

18.01.2022 Thanks to all of our wonderful volunteers for their massive effort for this year's Clean Up Australia Day. We had 150 people turn up who collected more than 100 bags of rubbish across nine events. Brilliant effort and we might even be welcoming some new groups as a result! 18.01.2022 Volunteers from the Ginninderra Catchment Group and all over the region were excited to be at the launch of the annual #waterwatch Catchment Health Indicator (CHIP) report in Gungahlin today. The weather was wet but it couldn’t keep Minister Shane Rattenbury away who launched the report. Congratulations to all our volunteers for their hard work. We calculated that at GCG you put in more than 700 hours alone! ... You can find the full report on the ACT Waterwatch website. The results are surprising given the extreme conditions experienced in 2019-2020 but you’ll have to read the report to find out more.

16.01.2022 The call is in for volunteers for this year’s frog census which will run for a month this year due to the effects of climate change. Read all bout it in the @canberratimes today.

16.01.2022 Many of our environmental weeds come from gardens, so please, help out out Landcare groups by learning more about Bush friendly gardens.

13.01.2022 A big GCG thanks to all the lovely locals who turned out for our Wetlands Walk n Talks at Melba and Croke Place. Over 2 weekends we had more than 50 people learn about the ACT EPSDD Healthy Waterways Wetland and Rain-garden sites designed to improve Canberra storm-water flowing in the Murray Darling River System. #GinninderraCatchmentGroup #GinninderraCreek #ACTHealthyWaterways #EPSDD #LACT #Landcare #WSUD... 08.01.2022 Ginninderra Catchment Group and Friends of Grasslands hosted an OPEN DAY for over 50 residents of Lawson, with the help of local resident and grasslands expert Rainer Rehwinkel. Guided tours of the remnant critically endangered "Natural Temperate Grassland" revealed the wonders of the suburb's natural areas These provide habitat for a range of plants, and animals (invertebrates, including the endangered Golden Sun Moth, frogs, reptiles, mammals, and birds, many of which are ...also threatened). We also got together a fantastic group of 15 locals who are eager to start a new Landcare group for the Lawson Grasslands. More updates to come!! Thanks to Rainer Rehwinkel, @Friends of Grasslands - FOG and ACT Government. 02.01.2022 The Mount Rogers Landcare Group has been busy installing erosion control structures to rehabilitate the mountain after this heavy rain season. With the help of ACT Gov TCCS, the group has installed many coir logs and fixed barricades to prevent unwanted foot traffic while these areas recover. Perfect timing before Native plants flower and set seed over Spring and Summer, allowing these species to re-establish on the eroded track.... #GinninderraCatchmentGroup #MountRogersLandcareGroup #MountRogers #Volunteering #TCCS #TransportCanberraandCityServices #LandcareACT #Erosioncontrol #NativePlants #SpringFlowers
