25.01.2022 Remember to register your interest for what should be a fun, active summer session next week!! Forecast is looking fine!

25.01.2022 Day two action at the Australian Under 18 Champs, the ACT girls defeated by QLD South 67-95. The ACT trailed from the outset, unable to match the inside dominance of the Queenslanders who scored 62 points in the paint. Bottom-age super Rats talent Ilijana Matijevic contributed a single board and assist in only four minutes, however it was fellow Rats Ali Francis and Lauren Armstrong who led the ACT charge - Ali scored 16 points (at 66%), including two from long range, and 3 steals, while Lauren challenged Queensland inside, tallying 9 points, 8 boards and 4 assists. Having grown up playing alongside each other it’s great to see Ali and Lauren performing so well at this level - they look slightly different from 2015! Last night the ACT boys defeated WA Country 88-60 and face a big test against Vic Metro this evening.

24.01.2022 FLASHBACK FRIDAY: Long before junior teams in Canberra were graded in numbered divisions, colours were used - white, gold, blue (and maybe others?). From memory blue was the premier grade, gold intermediate and white was for the beginners or less advanced players. So to 1992 and a big Under 18 Girls Blue Grand Final showdown between Rats and St Clare’s. Absolutely no idea who won but the Rats girls and coach seem pretty happy so let’s assume it was a Rats victory! ... Some faces on the team look kinda familiar but will leave it to the power of social media to make positive identification on this fine group of victorious young ballers.....

24.01.2022 Prem 2 both took on Norths last night - our women enjoying a strong win 64-49 while heartbreak for the men, going down 69-70. The women were led by Kath McMullan’s (#40) double-double (16 points and 11 boards), with Ali Francis contributing 13 points (plus 5 assists) and Brontie Ridley 11. For the men, Chris Brocklehurst had 25, including seven points from the line, Casey Baines (#42) 12 and Liam Crossman 9.... Go Rats!

23.01.2022 Our undefeated Prem 2 women take on Norths tonight for a spot in next week’s Final. Get there and get loud #ratsnation

23.01.2022 The Ginninderra Rats Basketball Club is inviting responses to an Expression of Interest (EOI) for Senior Prem coaching roles (men’s and women’s) in 2021. For each program we are specifically seeking a Head Coach, Assistant Coach and Prem 2 Coach. For further details please review the EOI doc at www.ginninderrarats.com.au Responses to the EOI close on 7 December.

23.01.2022 Round 6 Prem 2 action last night, our men venturing south to take on Dodgers, emerging with the win 77-55. Brooklyn Bruton was again a scoring force with 20 points, Matt Durham contributing 8 and both Matt Miles and young Archie Webb with 6. But they all trailed Liam Crossman (#14) who had a night for the scrapbook, connecting on eight threes on his way to a 30 point haul. In the late women’s game at Belconnen it was the highly anticipated Rats Derby, River (blue) v Lak...e (white). Bragging rights this time round went to the River crew, 46-36, Brontie Ridley (#19) leading the way with 14 and Gemma Everett 11. For the Lake Rats, it was again Kobi Fogg perched atop the scoresheet with 12, Maddie Hunt 8, while Izzy Classon made a welcome return to the Rats-fold with 4. Much fun and many smiles (but burpees for the losing team at Monday training??) Go Rats!

22.01.2022 Round 10 Prem 1 results from last night. Our men are showing continued improvement, narrowly going down to Ramblers 59-68 (having lost their previous encounter by 21). The Women’s P1 secured another strong win, defeating Norths 74-46. The bench shone, out scoring Norths 36-12, highlighting again the depth of the squad in 2020.... Our STAT RATS STAT STARS for the week: Massive games from Maddy Wheatley (14 pts, 12 rebounds and six assists) and Izzy Morgan (12 pts, 9 rebounds), but this week’s Star is Kelsy Maher (#7) who nailed her season high 16 points, including 3/5 from outside, alongside 3 boards. For the men, Charlie Mellick put up 18 points but it was not enough to pip Robbie Emelifeonwu (#2) for the coveted Stars Star title, Robbie nailing 21 points to eclipse his personal season high. Go Rats!

22.01.2022 Desite a barrage of threes our P2 men were defeated by Vikings last night, 51-82. Lach Mayo had 11 (three 3s), while Liam Crossman (#14) led scorers with 16 points making a handy four from outside. Different story for our P2 women against Vikings, coming away with the W 61-38. Jo Sykes and Ali Francis both put up 12, while Erica Cooper (#21) contributed her season’s best with 11 (two 3s). Our P2 women sit atop the standings, undefeated on the season. Good luck to all juniors taking to the courts this weekend. Go Rats!

22.01.2022 Huge win for women’s Prem 2 last night off the back of awesome team defence, holding Wests to only 21% from the field in a 92-29 win. Brontie Ridley (#19) led all scorers with 17 points, while Alison Francis (#22) poured in 15 points along with 4 assists. Our men were unable to back up last week’s great win, going down to Ramblers 65-82. Chris Brocklehurst (#20) again a standout with 14 points, while Lach Mayo (#3) and Liam Crossman (#14) both stepped up with 11 each. Go Rats!

21.01.2022 Day three at the National Under 18 Champs, the ACT girls back in action against WA Country. Giving up an early start, down nine at quarter time, the ACT was unable to bridge the gap, falling 44-49. On a tough shooting day (28% from the floor), Rats Ali Francis and Lauren Armstrong tallied two and five points respectively. Ali also chipped in with four assists and Lauren five boards, while the pair combined for a crafty seven steals. After a head knock in yesterday’s game, f...ellow Rat Ilijana Matijevic was unable to suit up for the game. #RatsNation wishing Ili a super speedy recovery and hoping to see her talents back on court really soon!! After just falling short against the powerful Vic Metro last night (83-78) the ACT boys easily accounted for NT today, 96-58. Go ACT! Go Rats!

20.01.2022 Day four action at the Australian U18 Champs today - unfortunately another loss for our ACT girls, defeated by SA Metro 66-85. Scores were level at the half, SA Metro piling on 30 points in the third term to set up the win. All scorers were led by our own Lauren Armstrong (pictured) who filled the stat sheet with 15 points (58%), 11 boards and 7 assists. Fellow Rats Ali Francis added 4 points and 2 assists, while Ilijana Matijevic, after missing yesterday’s game following a ...head clash, returned to the court late in the game to add 2 points and a block. The ACT Under 18 Boys were blitzed by a strong North Queensland in the second quarter, going down 77-98. Go ACT! Go Rats!

19.01.2022 A really special win for our 16 Div 1 boys last night in Tuggeranong, taking on a Marist team that had only a single loss for the season to date. With four players fouled out and only three left on court, the boys held on in OT for a brave two point win, 104-102. Sensational effort from all players and coaches, scoring led by Matt Beard-Browning with 38, Dante Bruton with 30 and Jackson Smith 12.... Super effort fellas! Go Rats!

18.01.2022 If you want some FREE and FUN holiday hoops action then why not get along to the Basketball ACT 3x3 Community Hustle from 5pm on 12 January at John Knight Park in Belco! 18.01.2022 Success for both Prem 2 teams last night, our men chalking up their fifth win of the season defeating Vikings (Red) 60-42 and the women maintaining their undefeated season, downing TSC (White) 60-34. For the men, scoring was shared with Chris Brocklehurst leading the way with 20, Casey Baines 14 and both Josh Brennan (#41) and Liam Crossman adding 10. The scoring load was similarly shared by the women as Kath McMullan followed up last week’s strong performance with 14, while... Gemma Everett (#5) and Maddie Hunt both put up 10. Go Rats!

18.01.2022 Court 1 at Belconnen was Rats HQ last night with our Prem 1 teams in action. First up was our men, taking on Stallions and securing a well deserved win, 79-54, their first for the year. Active defence was a key, limiting Stallions to only 28% from the floor, with Rats also winning the rebound count 67-54 (Ben Mitchell and Adam Gavranich with 16 a piece). Scoring was well spread. Tristan Scotcher had 13 as his athletic drives got him to the line where he was 7 from 7, Ben Mi...tchell 16, Lach Mayo 13 (3 of 7 from outside) and Brooklyn Bruton 13. Along with his excellent work on the boards, Adam Gavranich also added 16 points, his leadership on court or from the bench equally as valuable. For the women it was the narrowest of losses, pipped by Norths 73-72. Sure, some key players were missing with injury or absence, but a really slow start and lack of early defensive pressure will sit poorly with the team and coaching staff. Norths were able to jump out to a 15 point lead in the first term, their shots from long range all falling (13 of 35 on the night), as Rats struggled to get the ball in the hole and were forced to play catch-up. Rats fought back into the contest but not to be on the night. Lauren Armstrong continued her great form with another strong stat line (13 points/9 rebounds/7 steals) while Alison Francis contributed 14 and Maddie Hunt 11 (and 9 boards). STAT RATS STAT STARS: Has been great to welcome JJ Jalloh (#98) back to the club this year and he enjoyed a really big night. The big man was +20 on his 27 minutes, putting up 12 points, 15 boards and three big blocks. Rats win and his individual game was given a big exclamation mark with a powerful dunk late. The injection of Nikki Worner (#9) back into the game late in the first term helped stem the tide. She knocked down critical shots and made key plays, leading Rats back into the contest. On the night Nikki hit 15 points, including 3 of 5 from outside, and had 4 rebounds and 2 assists.

17.01.2022 Proud to have the inspiring Elijah and his wonderful family as part of our Club! #RatsNation

17.01.2022 In the last few seconds our Under 14 girls crew might have lost the STREET HUSTLE 3x3 Final but there’s no doubt they won the dance off! #ratsmischief #3x3streethustle

16.01.2022 FLASHBACK FRIDAY: Back to 1983 and a time when $1 notes were still a thing, Canberra were NBL Champs and Cannons players filtered through the local basketball scene every week in club colours. (Was also the year that current Rats 19 Div 2 coach Cal Bruton was selected in the All-NBL First team while playing with the Geelong Supercars!) But in August ‘83, Round 5 of the ACT Div 1 men’s competition, it was Rats defeating Woden 100-94. Fresh off being named the inaugural NBL R...ookie of the Year, AIS graduate and adopted Rat Jamie Kennedy spearheaded Rats win with 40 points, his game described by The Canberra Times’ Paul Glover as dynamic. He was ably supported in the backcourt by another Cannon, Tad Dufelmeier, with 23. While his time in Rats ranks is no doubt THE highlight of an illustrious career, Jamie Kennedy played in the NBL from 1983 to 1992, all bar one season for the Cannons. He played in all three Cannons Championships, averaged 12.1 ppg across his career and was one of the league’s finest long range bombers, connecting on 377 threes at 39%. Kennedy married fellow AIS scholarship holder Jenny Peterson, their son Josh still running around at full forward with the AFL’s West Coast Eagles.

16.01.2022 FLASHBACK FRIDAY: taking you back to a time long before Belconnen Stadium, to a time when shorts were short, socks were long and the capital’s basketball scene got real local news coverage...... The home of basketball in the capital for many years was NATEX - the National Exhibition Centre (now called EPIC). In a really big shed, Canberra’s finest ballers, including national league players, battled out on the hardwood each week for their local club. The upstairs bar was a...lways heaving with banter and good times. As a junior, it always felt like you had really arrived in the big time if you got the call up to play at NATEX. In the late 80s, you made sure the three pairs of socks you were rocking over-lapped just right when you stepped out on court there.... Photos and memories are a bit sketchy but as always, Rats were in the thick of it as we’ve been since 1977. While other venue’s have played important roles in the history of local hoops, NATEX was THE place to play in the 80’s through until the Belconnen Stadium opened in 1991. If you have some stories or pics to share of your NATEX memories, we’d love to see them!

16.01.2022 Round 17 Prem 1 overnight as both our teams headed south of the lake and returned with the W. The women took on Dodgers, securing the points 65-42, restricting their opponents to only 25% shooting from the field. Tash Lyall enjoyed a strong game with 12 points and 5 boards, Izzy Morgan with 5 points and 10 rebounds, with Madeleine Tex Hunt added 9 points. Our men secured a great win over the higher ranked Norths, running out victors 77-65. Adam Gavranich poured in 12 point...s and Will Cooper 9, while a special shoutout goes to Liam Crossman and Casey Baines who stepped up from P2 where their solid recent form translated to the top level, adding 7 and 6 points respectively. STATS RATS STAT STARS: Impossible to go pass Ben Mitchell (#1) who led the men with a season-high 29 points and yet another SRST nod. For the women, Sarah Cooper (#41) takes the honours for her very efficient 10 points (5 of 7 shooting) and 7 boards. Greg Francis on the photos as always - great work! Go Rats!!!

13.01.2022 This is Amy Phillips, co-coach of our Under 10 boys Lake Rats, a team she co-coaches with her oldest son Archie. With a limited basketball background as a kid, Amy has grabbed this coaching caper in 2020 with both hands! She is well prepared each week, bringing great tips, drills and big smiles to each and every session. The young Lake Rats, including youngest son Hamish, are having plenty of success and learning lots but it has to be said that they have yet to embrace Amy...’s passion for all things Kylie Minogue or her addiction to weekend bargain shopping. We are so lucky to have great people like Amy sticking up their hand to create lots of #ratsmischief and help develop the next generation of Rats. Thank you Amy! #ratslegend

12.01.2022 Time is running out #ratsnation to get your hands on our awesome Rats Retro gear. Orders will close on 1 December! Head to our website for details on how to get yours...

12.01.2022 This is Michelle Saunders, coach of our girls Under 14 Div 2 Lake Rats. The team, including Michelle’s daughter Ashley, is enjoying a great season in a tight division where they currently sit second in the standings. Michelle is a basketball person from way back, inspired to coach for the enjoyment of spending time with the girls and seeing their continuing development. She sites long-standing Rats coach Kelly Grandin as her biggest coaching influence. A lover of all thing...s pumpkin and a fan of the 1989 classic film Major League, Michelle is a fab mentor for this group who has them doing great stuff in 2020! Thanks Michelle! #ratslegend

12.01.2022 If you‘ve got a hoops itch that needs scratching these coming school holidays and want to improve your fundamentals then check out this opportunity from Rats very own Cal Bruton! Details in the pics.

12.01.2022 Day five at the U18 Nationals in Victoria, the ACT girls and our Rats trio taking on Vic Country. In a close game to three quarter time, the Vics outscored ACT 23-7 in the last term to take the win 50-72. Rats Ali Francis scored 3 points with 5 assists, Lauren Armstrong 8 points and 3 rebounds and Ilijana Matijevic 2 points and 4 boards. The ACT boys notched another win, easily accounting for SA Country 92-60.... Well done ACT. Go Rats!

12.01.2022 Prem 2 took on ANU last night, our women coming away winners 59-38 while the men went down (to ANU Omega) 54-73. As has been typical for our undefeated women, the load was again well shared - Kath McMullan with 11 points, 11 boards and 2 blocks, Illijana Matijevic (#53) with 11 points and 7 rebounds and Ali Francis with 10 points and six steals! The men were led by Lach Mayo (#3) and Liam Crossman who both nailed 16 points and continued to show their effectiveness from long r...ange with four treys apiece, while big man Casey Baines backed up from Prem 1 with 13 points. Go Rats! Thanks to Greg Francis for the action shots!

11.01.2022 OT thriller in Tuggers tonight as our Under 12 Girls JPL snag their first win, 40-39 over TSC!!! #ratsmischief

11.01.2022 Ginninderra Rats has a proud history of women’s participation, the first women’s team taking to the court in the club’s second season from July 1977. Sue Valentine was among the early trailblazers for women’s participation in the club, both on court and away from it. She was a quality player, part of the all-conquering Div 7 Championship team in 1980 - this team allowed the opposition to reach 20 points on only a single occasion across the season. Over 15 years Sue was a pla...yer, coach to a variety of Rats junior teams and Secretary to the Board for five years. Her passion and involvement in the sport extended beyond Rats, being a Board member for Basketball ACT and managing several representative programs. Sue was made a Life Member in 2008. Thank you Sue. #ratforlife

11.01.2022 Round 9 Prem 1 action overnight, our women securing the points with a 14 point win over Stallions 77-53. The team shot the lights out from downtown, hitting eight 3’s at 42%. The men’s team took on arguably the comp’s toughest assignment against the NBA Global Academy. While losing the game 53-97, the margin was closer than their previous meeting as the Rats defence kept the Academy under 100, the only team to do so in the last month. Our STAT RATS STAT STARS for the week:... With shout outs to Ben Mitchell (10 points) and Adam Gavranich (10 points, 9 boards), our men’s star is Will Cooper (#11) for his 11 points and 5 rebounds, nailing three treys at 50%. While the continued great work of Izzy Morgan (21 points) and Maddy Wheatley (13 points) needs mention, our women’s star this week keeps it all in the Cooper clan. Sarah Cooper’s on court impact is immediate - this week the #41 hit 6 points, dragged in four boards and dished out a team high 5 assists. Go Rats!

09.01.2022 Sometimes a picture is so cute it needs no caption..... #ratsmischief #allinthefamily

09.01.2022 Junior trials commencing 1 February. Be part of #ratsnation in 2021! Stay tuned to Rats social media and our website for details and any updates!

08.01.2022 Saturday mornings... U12 Div 4B. Lake Rats v River Rats. Much fun and a resounding win for Rats basketball! #ratsmischief

08.01.2022 RATS TALES 2020 Despite working with a lean team list early in the season, the U16D2 boys shot out of the blocks with a series of wins and a draw. They couldn’t quite maintain the momentum, but they still managed to notch up seven Ws for the season, finishing mid-table. With the help of a promising development player from U14s and a couple of late recruits, they stabilised their list and showed some great form when they all turned up ‘switched on and hungry’. Coach Jamie’s challenge was to get them all working together as a team and, when this happened, they pulled off some strong results. The boys had a great time playing together in what, for all but two, was their last season in the U16 ranks. Great work, team! SHARE YOUR TEAM’S 2020 RATS TALE WITH US BY SENDING US A MESSAGE WITH A PICTURE, OR COMMENTING ON THIS POST.

08.01.2022 Under 10 boys Rats derby! #ratsmischief

07.01.2022 Nice work by our Div 1 Under 14 Boys last night, starting the school holidays in style with a hard fought win over Stallions 59-52, including 15 points from the free throw line. Kehan Gunawardana continued his great season with 21 points, while Adam Aly and Bailley Corazza contributed 13 and 9 respectively. Coached by Senior Prem players Charlie Mellick and Kelsy Maher, really good team this one, sitting undefeated after nine rounds.... Go Rats! #ratsmischief

07.01.2022 2021 CANBERRA GUNNERS ACADEMY - TRIALS Basketball ACT will be holding trials for players wishing to be considered for the Canberra Gunners Academy for the 2021 ...Waratah League season. Trials will be held at the following: - MONDAY - 18 JANUARY 2021 - 6pm-8pm @ UC Basketball Centre; - WEDNESDAY - 20 JANUARY 2021 - 6pm-8pm @ Tuggeranong Southern Cross Stadium; Potential trialists are asked to arrive at 5.45pm (ready to start at 6pm) and bring a water-bottle and reversible singlet. Trials are open to men playing U18's and above. For further information regarding trials, please contact Barb Turner at [email protected]

06.01.2022 FLASHBACK FRIDAY: In 2021 we have welcomed Ray Brady to the role of Junior Technical Director (while also continuing as coach of our 16 Girls JPL team). Ray has been busy helping many teams and coaches already this season, imparting his technical knowledge and coaching experience gained over many years on-court across the ACT, NSW and Australian basketball scenes. Just how many years you may ask??... These pictures, dragged from a cardboard box in the dusty archives of Basketball ACT, might provide you with some answers. Times might have changed but Ray kinda still looks the same... He’s a good fella who, like so many volunteers in our Club, so readily gives up his time. We are lucky to have him continuing to support the next generation of Rats! #ginninderrarats #RatsNation

06.01.2022 FLASHBACK FRIDAY: The Rat has always been part of our Club’s identity but was really bought to life by John Hartley in the late 1970s. John was not a Stats Rats player but he was father to two players, Laura and Paula, and he enjoyed doodling small cartoons in his spare time. One of these cartoons, a small and kinda crafty looking basketball-playing Rat, made its way onto calico bags used by his daughters and presumably was then shown off around the courts and quickly embra...ced. Our Club logo was born. John’s original Rat, now facing to the right and in some instances with pants, was given a face-lift by Paul Reeves in 2010-11, taking on its current form as the Club rebranded, with orange added to the original two blues. As much as we love the current Rat, our fondness for the original lives on as we have seen in our recent Retro Week activities (and the Retro Rat merch items). These days John still draws the Rat on his grandchildren’s birthday cards, while his family association with the Club continued until relatively recently through Laura’s daughter, Kayla Tsakalos, who played all the way through to senior level. What started as a small cartoon has, like those very first calico bags, become part of the fabric of our Club. Thanks John! #ratslegend

05.01.2022 Over the weekend, Basketball ACT commenced transitioning our spectator check-in process to utilise the Check In CBR app...the safe and easy way to record your v...isit with us... You will start seeing QR Code posters on display, for spectators to scan on arrival... The app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store, however we have been informed that the Android version will be rolled out shortly... We will still have a physical check-in (for those who don't have smart phones)... #checkincbr

05.01.2022 When a team is undefeated through the regular season you cross your fingers that form holds true into the finals. That was certainly the case for our Prem 2 women last night, knocking off Norths 56-32 and booking a Grand Final date against Vikings next Thursday. As has been a hallmark of this Rats team all season, they were able to share the load and get even contributors right across the board. It was no different in the semi, with Brontie Ridley leading on 10 points, Jo Sy...kes and Maddie Norton with 9 each, and Ali Francis with 8. Both our women’s Prem teams making the GF is a great result. Emerging from the COVID shutdown mid-year it is a credit to not only the playing and training group, but to coaches Michael Haynes and Maria Worner, that our women’s program is again in such a strong position. Good luck to our many junior teams in semi final action over the weekend. #ratsmischief Bring on grand final week! GO RATS!

04.01.2022 The Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Darryl Durham as Head Coach of our Senior Men’s Program for 2021 and 2022. Darryl has over 30 years experience in building and leading successful basketball programs. Welcome to #ratsnation Darryl! For details check out www.ginninderrarats.com.au

04.01.2022 FLASHBACK FRIDAY: The WNBL traces its origins back to discussions first held in 1980. Almost 12 months later, on 19 June 1981, the first match was played in the then Women’s Interstate Basketball Conference when the AIS travelled to take on West Adelaide. But only a single week before this first game it was Canberra that hosted the Australian Women’s Basketball Championships at NATEX. The event program is littered with some great names of Australian women’s basketball, wit...h the ACT team also featuring lots of familiar names, including LA Olympian, the late Sue Geh. Not sure who won the Championship and if the advent of a national league the following week caused the Championship’s immediate demise. And not sure if there were any Rats among the Canberra contingent but am sure, as always, that Facebook will be our guide to try and fill the gaps!

03.01.2022 Undefeated weekend on the hardwood for our five Under 12 girls teams!!! Div 5 continuing their excellent work with a 13-5 win over BAS Rubys. Div 4 sneaking home 14-13 over Flames.... Div 3 defeating Warriors 22-6. Div 2 drew with Canberra City Stallions (that’s not a defeat!!) Div 1 continuing to build their season and consolidate second spot in the standings with a 51-19 win over Tuggeranong Southern Cross. Wins along the way are always nice but importantly, lots of fun, learning and #ratsmischief with this group in 2020! Go Rats!

03.01.2022 Great day out at the @basketball_act 3x3 STREET HUSTLE with plenty of Rats mischief on display with some of our Under 12 and 14 boys and girls. #ratsmischief #ginninderrarats

03.01.2022 Split results for Prem 1 last night in Round 11. Our women took on the Centre of Excellence and despite keeping it close in the first half, trailing by only 11 at main break, were defeated 75-23. The men notched up a welcome win, downing Dodgers 98-75 off the back of a really even performance, making over 40% from outside the arc and dominating the boards (Adam Gavranich with 18!).... Our STAT RATS STAT STARS for this week: Maddy Wheatley and Izzy Morgan were again among the major statistical performers, but on a tough night, the gong this week goes to Emmy Clarke (#10) for her 7 points, 3 boards and 4 steals. The men had lots of contributors, with Will Cooper, Mitch Brown and Charlie Mellick providing major scoreboard impact with 20, 17 and 15 respectively. But this week it was hard to go past Ben Mitchell (#1) for his complete performance with 20 points, 9 boards and 7 assists. Go Rats!

02.01.2022 To all the mums and carers that help us get on court every week (among many, many other things!!!!). Enjoy your day. Thank you!

02.01.2022 RATS WIN! RATS WIN! RATS WIN! Fantastic game last night as our Prem 1 women erased a double digit half time deficit to defeat Wests 66-61, booking their place in the big dance next Wednesday. Court 2 was rocking down the stretch when Rats edged in front, two clutch threes and a sweet Maddie Hunt mid range jump shot with about two minutes to play giving our Rats the buffer they needed to get home.... As has been the way all season, Rats ability to go to the end of the bench and have players do their role for the team was a feature. Kobi Fogg’s lock down D was terrific, the defensive hustle, physicality and pressure from Sarah Cooper (7 points/5 rebounds), Nikki Worner (2 points, 2 boards and one chipped tooth!), Tash Lyall and Kelsy Maher also a highlight. Emmy Clarke did a great job all night, pushing the ball up court and exploring weaknesses in the Wests defence, collecting 9 points and 6 boards along the way. Lauren Armstrong was strong at both ends with 8 points, 4 rebounds and 3 blocks and, while quieter on the scoresheet, Izzy Morgan (4 points and 8 rebounds) came up big late with some monster boards and a big-time block. STAT RATS STAT STAR: When your team only makes 4 of 18 from beyond the arc but you nail two in the last few minutes (one banked thank you!), alongside a baseline spin move that gets people outta their seats, then it’s a BIG game! Maddy Wheatley (#11) was BIG last night, with 19 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and a block to be our semi final Stat Star. So book it in your diaries #RatsNation! A Prem 1 GF rematch v Dodgers next Wednesday at 7pm (and don’t miss our Prem 2 women’s semi tonight against Norths at 8pm on Court 1). Go Rats! Thanks to Greg Francis for the pics!

01.01.2022 Our women’s Prem 1 have the bye tonight but our men will be on court at 6.30pm (Court 4) against Warriors searching for their first win of the season. In this last week of school holidays, be great to have a strong Rats crowd on hand to lend their support. Go Rats!!

01.01.2022 There’s plenty to this coaching caper - team trainings, individual mentoring, game day strategy and ensuring that all players get the on-court opportunities to develop. Our 19 Boys Div 2 team is talented, diverse and numerous. Coach Cal Bruton has them playing beautifully in 2020, sharing the load, juggling the court time and currently sitting in second place after another strong win over Daramalan on Sunday. Great works fellas!!
