20.01.2022 How is this for progress!!! Our last 2020 This Girl Can Roll session was held tonight at our venue in Sale. The crew started x3 weeks ago and already weaving, stopping, transitions, doing pace lines, backwards skating and having a lot of fun!!! A huge thankyou to our coaches Gav, Shrek, Kel, Russell, Bim and Liz, without the dedication from our volunteers we wouldn’t have a club. The Sale and Bairnsdale TGC was a huge success all round, and a great way for women in our comm...unity to get more active! Also Thankyou to This Girl Can VIC, Wellington Shire Council, East Gippsland Shire Council and Skate Victoria for making this program possible. 18.01.2022 We are one step closer to a return to skating and are excited to announce our introductory This Girl Can Roll FREE, 3 Week, Outdoor Roller Skating program for women 16+. We would like to thank our sponsors Wellington Shire Council, East Gippsland Shire and This Girl Can VIC for helping us create opportunities for women to participate in physical activity! Thanks to them we are able to offer 30 FREE places in our outdoor This Girl Can Roll initiative in Sale and Bairnsdale. Th...is program is a "3 week Come Try" for people new to skating or those keen to brush up on their skills with the option to continue into our Skate Club programs. Get in early. First in best dressed! Starting in November we have 10 spots in Bairnsdale over 3 weeks & 20 spots in Sale over 6 weeks. Max of 10 participants per session. Free skate hire and protective gear available! 11.01.2022 Hi All, we still have a couple of scholarships remaining. if you're interested in skating or derby and you think you may quality, please fill in an application form or get in touch with the club. Through the kind generosity of the Gippsland Primary Health Network ‘One Good Community‘ grant, Gippsland Lakes Roller Derby is delighted to offer a limited number of 12 month ‘skating scholarships’ (to the value of $500) for financially vulnerable members of the local community who ...have been directly or indirectly impacted by drought, bush-fire and/or natural disasters. Applicants must be aged 13+. This grant will cover any applicable membership, insurance and training fees for the 2021 year. Applicants will need to briefly describe the nature of their financial hardship and how the scholarship will benefit them, in the application form. 06.01.2022 Thank you to all who have Expressed interest in our This Girl Can Roll program due to get start next month. We have had an overwhelming response to this but unfortunately only have 30 places available. Our first 30 applicants have been emailed so please keep an eye out! Check your junk folders too! Applicants must accept their place by end of day tomorrow. If they do not, their place will be offered to the next person on the wait list! If you did not receive an email today, you may still be offered a place and we will be in touch to let you know. Big shout out the Wellington Shire Council, East Gippsland Shire Council and This Girl Can for sponsoring this program. We are so excited to finally get active and back on skates!
