14.01.2022 Patient of the day! This gorgeous Mulga (King Brown) Snake was hit by a car and escaped with only a laceration near its head. With little [safe] opportunity to get up close to these guys, it was definitely very cool to check out its beautiful colouring up close and personal!

09.01.2022 The Brown Tick Thankfully we do not have the horrific paralysis tick in the NT but we do that this little guy and a new disease that he is bringing up to the NT. Thus, if you have been one of the 'treat-not-prevent dog owners' it may be time to start preventing! Ehrlichiosis canis is a bacterial disease that is transmitted from the brown tick to dogs. Ehrlichiosis requires veterinary treatment and early treatment provides the best chance of recovery. The symptoms are as foll...ows: Fever Lethargy Anorexia weight loss pain and stiffness bleeding disorders (such as nosebleeds or bleeding under the skin that looks like small spots or patches or bruising). If you are concerned about your dog, bring them in for a check up with one of our knowledgeable vets!

08.01.2022 When larvae reach the small intestine, they latch on to the lining and start sucking blood. Feeding on blood helps them mature into adult worms. When they're mature, male and female hookworms mate. A female Hookworm can produce up to 30,000 eggs per day.

08.01.2022 Have you wormed you puppy or kitten recently? Mother dogs can pass roundworms to developing puppies in the uterus or through milk when the puppies are nursing. Kittens do not become infected in utero, but they can become infected when nursing. Roundworms are extremely common parasites that spend their adult lives in the intestines of puppies, kittens, dogs, and cats.
