19.01.2022 Class on tomorrow? You bet! With the current Brisbane restrictions, we’ll be making a few changes to make sure our class is COVIDSafe What we need your help to do, if you’re over 12 and not exempt, is make sure you rock up to class in a mask , and wear it until you start training. Spectators in masks too, please! There are a few more protocols - but we’ll help you through everything else to make sure we can still train, safely!... See you tomorrow, Thursday champions!

10.01.2022 CLASSES BACK TONIGHT Wanting to get out of the house after a few days of lockdown? Class is back on tonight! We know how this works as we’ve been here before. Bring your mask as everyone in the hall needs to wear one, and ensure spectators sign in. Students can take it off when training starts. There’s a few more restrictions which we’ll take care of to make sure you can train in a distanced and COVIDSafe environment ... See you tonight!

10.01.2022 Do you practice Mokuso in your Dojo? Mokuso literally means silent/still (moku) + thoughts/thinking (so). Mokuso is a common way to start and to end a train...ing session in the Japanese Martial Arts. However it is not just mindlessly sitting in seiza position. Proper Mokuso is almost as important as the actual training. It is a reflection for the practitioner's state of mind and It is also a good step to be able to reach mushin. A state of mind into which trained martial artists are said to enter during combat. We know there are various ways of placing your hands, arms, and even eyes positioning in Mokuso that are practiced in different schools. But the most important thing to pay attention to is your 'state of mind'. Having a proper state of mind during Mokuso is very important as it will positively influence the rest of your training and even the rest of your day! During the practice of Mokuso, it's essential to keep the balance between vigilance and relaxation - we should avoid going one way or the other. During Mokuso, it's important to keep your mind in the now, fully aware of yourself and your surrounding, not lost in your thoughts. The goal of Mokuso is to be fully present and aware in the moment. Note that Martial arts is not just a physical practice. Yes working hard in class will teach you self defence and improve your fitness. But being a true martial artist is more than that. It is a path towards greater awareness, concentration and patience in and outside of the dojo. This cultivation of mindfulness, introspection and self analysis are all important techniques to the martial artist. Tamashii Kokoro is building a movement. not just a brand.
