24.01.2022 Hi all I’m after a few motivated and reliable students who will be paid to help promote our classes. This will be during the school holidays at either Stocklands Wetherill park, Westfield parramatta or Westfield Liverpool, but may continue after the holidays if you would like some partime or full time work. All that’s involved is talking to people and answering any questions or doubts they may have. Give me a call on 0424 214 722 or PM me.

23.01.2022 Life has thrown us a temporary curve ball, but that doesn't mean our health, fitness, self-defence skills or enjoyment of karate has to end. During this peculi...ar period, GKR Karate is bringing the dojo to you. Online classes for all grades and ages, covering all facets of training; and all classes are designed with limited space in mind. There is no reason why your skills and fitness can't continue to improve right now. It just requires a tiny bit of self-discipline on your part to get the ball rolling. And the beauty of self-discipline, is its only difficult for a few minutes, because after this, motivation to keep going kicks in.

GKR is a club for all ages and promotes self-defence, fitness, coordination, discipline, c...onfidence and stress relief. People of all walks of life can train together and learn the art of karate in a safe, fun and encouraging environment. 17.01.2022 Hi everyone It is with regret that we have to close our chester hill north class. The school is adamant that no one is to use the halls anymore. As advised previously, we are operating classes at George’s hall on tuesdays 6.30pm and 7.30pm, thursdays 6pm and 7pm, Merrylands fridays 6pm and Saturday morning 9.30 and 10.30am. For any that don’t drive, our sincerest apologies. I’m am looking for an alternate venue, but I don’t believe it will be within walking distance. Georg...es hall public school has offered another day (Wednesday) to help out but I would need to know whom would be interested before setting up that class. Please message me if you have any questions. See more

15.01.2022 Well done to Talan, Maya and Steve for grading to green belt. Steve got a double grading as did Helen recently, that's two just this year for Chester Hill dojo! Awesome!

11.01.2022 Dear students and parents, We would like to reassure all of our students and their families that we are closely monitoring the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) situation and will continue to observe the recommended precautions put forward by government health authorities. Whilst these directives are constantly evolving, we can confirm that our regular GKR Karate classes and monthly gradings will continue as normal unless otherwise advised. That said, the wellbeing of the student body i...s our highest priority and we will be implementing a number of temporary strategies in our dojos for the next 4 weeks to create the safest possible environment for training. These include: Instructors will spread students out and line them up in such a way as to utilise all the space in the dojo. This will ensure a greater physical distance between each student. We will NOT conduct any close-quarter partner exercises during this time, including kumite ie: we will focus more on kata, kihon, combination drills and footwork training. There will be a temporary halt on the use of kick shields or focus mitts, and instructors will be asking students not to Kiai in class during this 4 week period. We will re-assess the need for these measures at the end of the 4 week period and will be guided by government directives. In addition, there are several basic practises related to personal hygiene that all students can be observing in the meantime: Do not share drink bottles or towels with other students Refrain from shaking hands with others at class. Bowing is safe, and is excellent etiquette If you must cough or sneeze, please do so into your Mawashi Empi (your bent arm) Wash your hands well both before and after class If youre feeling unwell then stay home and rest. Well see you again soon. If youve been exposed to the virus, please follow the quarantine conditions set out by health authorities. We are hopeful that the observance of these practises will allow students to maintain their regular training patterns with greater confidence over the coming weeks. If there are changes to any of our scheduled classes or events in your area, then these announcements will be made on your regions Facebook page and at class via your branch instructor. To avoid misinformation about the virus, we suggest visiting the following trustworthy source https://www.health.gov.au/

11.01.2022 Hi all I hope you are well and keeping safe from this virus. Im missing my karate family atm. Not training together does put a dampener on my training days but at least we can train together online. Most families are opting to join our online dojo course to keep up training. You dont need much space and from some of the photo Ive received, some are working in a space no bigger than a bathroom. Its cheaper than an individual weekly class fee and is available for the whole... family. Come join me and let me know what you think. If you need help, give me a call or message me. Stay healthy and excel use. Regards Sensei Robert Zammit https://onlinedojo.gkrkarate.com/store78476au

01.01.2022 To all GKR students, please find a short video from our founder and Chief Instructor, Kancho Robert Sullivan.

01.01.2022 Hi guys, as per the message I texted the regular students at Chester Hill. GKR has taken some very sensible steps in modifying their training format due to the coronavirus and at the same time maintain working on the skills required. Remember, no matter what level you have achieved we all still need to work on basics and kata. This is the backbone of karate which doesn't need contact or close partner work. I was impressed with the turnout last Tuesday, let's keep it up next Tuesday. Regards, Sensei Glenn
