25.01.2022 CONGRATULATIONS!!! ABSOLUTE AWESOMENESS!!! A MASSIVE WELL DONE to all of our students who successfully graded to their next belt level today at our f...irst Grading in 5 months. Each and every student should be extremely proud of their achievement as it came with the extra challenge of our classes being on hold for a few weeks. I was personally very impressed by the focus and determination of our younger students across all belt levels as their resilience has been tested in recent times in many ways. A HUGE THANK YOU to all of our outstanding instructors for their commitment and compassion to help their students prepare for today and for assisting to make the event such a success for all present. Please plan to arrive at 9:30 for a 10am start as... the check in process can take a few minutes. 2. Please wear your full uniform as Training Tees are only for regular classes. 3. Also please remember to have your badge sewn or pinned on or you will have to purchase one at the start. 4. Bring your own water as we can’t use the drink fountains. 5. Sleep well, eat a good breakfast and remember that your Sensei believes in you otherwise you wouldn’t be invited to attend. 6. 23.01.2022 Bunkai day at Deception Bay: Understanding kata beyond the set pattern enables us to not only utilise the movements out of sequence for our bunkai, but to combine multiple kata for one situation. Here we used a combination of 2 Kyu grade kata with one of our Shodan- Ho kata.... Can you pick them? (Listen for Sensei Paul smirk at the end.)

23.01.2022 Hello R24 Students and Families, Our final Grading for 2020 is tomorrow and it’s certainly going to be an exciting morning for all attending. Please take note o...f the following details so that your day can be the best it can. Aim to be there to check in at 9:30am as the school has part of the car park closed due to some construction work there and it may take you an extra 5 minutes to walk. When checking in at the admin desk please hold off all equipment purchases and membership enquiries to after the Grading has started or until the end to avoid unnecessary delays. Please ensure you wear your full uniform and this also includes a badge on your jacket otherwise you will be asked to purchase one and pin it on. If you have any jewellery please remove it or cover it with appropriate tape for your safety. As in any class please bring your own filled water bottle. If you haven’t been to the Kawana Dojo before allow extra time to find the entry and follow others to the hall. 21.01.2022 ALL OUR CLASSES ARE BACK AS PER TIMETABLE FROM TONIGHT! With the lifting of the lockdown in the Moreton Bay Council area we are able to reopen with the followin...g provisions in place to ensure everyone stays healthy and happy for the next 2 weeks. - All students 13 and over must wear a mask when entering and exiting the Dojo as well as during the sign in process. Masks can be removed whilst training as Karate is certainly strenuous exercise. - All students and instructors to maintain the 1.5 metre social distance gap during class and also during drink breaks. - Parents who do not train that stay in the hall must wear a mask at all times. - Please use the hand sanitizer provided before and after class as well as during drink breaks. - No partner work, sparring or kick shield work to take place. - If you are feeling unwell then please do not attend and seek medical advice. 19.01.2022 Life has thrown us a temporary curve ball, but that doesn't mean our health, fitness, self-defence skills or enjoyment of karate has to end. During this peculi...ar period, GKR Karate is bringing the dojo to you. Online classes for all grades and ages, covering all facets of training; and all classes are designed with limited space in mind. There is no reason why your skills and fitness can't continue to improve right now. It just requires a tiny bit of self-discipline on your part to get the ball rolling. And the beauty of self-discipline, is its only difficult for a few minutes, because after this, motivation to keep going kicks in.

The following classes will unfortunately not be running due to the State Government 3 day Lockdow...n from 5pm tonight to 5pm on Thursday. Bribie Island Burpengary Caboolture Kallangur Morayfield North Lakes The Deception Bay class on Thursday will still go ahead as the start time of 6pm allows travel time to the venue for those in the immediate area. ALL OTHER CLASSES will run as per our current timetable and will contain no partner work, Kick Shield work or sparring with all students being 1.5m-2m away from each whilst following our CovidSafe plan we have in all of our venues. As always use the hand sanitizer provided at each class or bring your own if you prefer and use it every drink break as well as before and after class. The wearing of masks is not compulsory when social distance is maintained in a venue however if any student, Parent or Instructor prefers to wear one they are obviously very welcome to do so. 08.01.2022 REGIONAL KATA TOURNAMENT FINALLY OVERCOMES COVID-19 SHUTDOWN!!! Such a special experience to have the Tournament that we planned to hold in March happ...en today!!! It was certainly a morning full of smiles, camaraderie, sportsmanship, awesome Karate and LOTS of medals. A MASSIVE THANK YOU to all of our dedicated Instructors and Officials who made the day the AWESOME success that it was for everyone involved. It was our first time running this style of Kata Round Robin Tournament and it was great to see how much the competitors and judges enjoyed the minimum 3 rounds per entrant as it made for some very close decisions in the medal tally. Well done to all of our competitors as the standard was solid across all divisions and particularly amongst our younger first timers and our Junior Team Kata entrants who were AWESOME in their focus and encouragement of one another. We’re in the process of confirming reopening dates with our venues and as per the previous update last week w...ith our classes being in a number of different locations the process is happening in stages. Stay tuned to this page for accurate information and please check your inbox for updates as to when your local Dojo is up and running. The following locations are about to return and a new revised timetable will be available next week as others are confirmed. -Bli Bli Dojo Saturday the 13th of June 9am. -Burpengary Dojo Saturday the 13th of June 9am & 10:30am, Monday the 15th 7pm and Wednesday the 17th 7pm. -Caloundra West Dojo Tuesday the 16th of June 4pm and Friday the 19th 6pm. -Deception Bay Dojo Thursday the 18th of June 6pm and Saturday the 20th 9am. -Kallangur Dojo Wednesday the 17th of June 6pm. -Nambour Dojo Wednesday the 17th of June 6pm and Thursday the 18th 4:30pm. -Tewantin Dojo Monday the 15th of June 6pm. All instructors will follow our Covid-19 safety plan to ensure we can all train in a safe and positive manner and guidelines will be explained to students and parents before each class resumes. 04.01.2022 GRADING DAY TOMORROW!!! It’s certainly very exciting to be able to run our first regional Grading since March and if you have been given the authorisation from ...your Sensei then please note the following important points. - Be early please to avoid any minor delays and particularly if you haven’t been to the Bokarina Dojo before as it’s tricky to find. If you aim to be there at 9:30am it gives you enough time to park, walk, get changed, check in, warm up and be ready for the 10am start. - Please wear full Gi which includes jacket with a badge sewn or pinned on as you will be asked this as you check in and badges are for sale there as well. Training Tees are only an option for classes and are not to be worn at Gradings. - Remember to bring your own full water bottle as no access to drink fountains is allowed for the time being. - Use the hand sanitizer stations as you enter, as you leave and at every drink break during the Grading please. - Please remember to be mindful of your social distance at all times when entering and leaving the Dojo, as well as when queuing up to check in, also when families are seated together and when taking photos afterwards too. - There will be no partner work or Sparring for this Grading as per our current Covid Safe Plan in all of our classes. - If you or a family member you live with are feeling unwell then contact Sensei Andrew Howell on 0407695005 beforehand and stay home to ensure that yourself and others stay healthy. - Most importantly enjoy the experience and let it be a reminder of your perseverance during this challenging time in history. 03.01.2022 CABOOLTURE DOJO OPENS THIS WEDNESDAY THE 22nd!!! MAROOCHYDORE DOJO OPENS NEXT MONDAY THE 27th!!! We were hoping that tomorrow would be the day for both of these... to reopen but this has been postponed by the school and the church due to cleaning issues and we obviously want to provide a high standard of hygiene for our students and instructors. Sensei Robin is really looking forward to seeing the AWESOME Caboolture students on Wednesday and feel free to train at Morayfield tomorrow with Sensei Jonathan for a quality class.
