These techniques and principles can be adapted to your Kihon, Kata and Kumite. Dont miss this special opportunity. See you there!

25.01.2022 Hey guys, remember today's going to be a no-gi class. So, wear your comfortable everyday clothes and let's see what it feels like to train karate! See you at 10am

24.01.2022 Only 3 days to go until Shihan Anthony Ryan's first ever online seminar! If you've never attended one of our online seminars, then now is the time. If you don't... have much space at home to train, don't worry - Shihan says, "I've home-trained regularly for many years so I'm used to training in a confined area. I'm excited to be sharing some of my regular drills with everyone, and I hope you’ll find the class both exciting and useful for your own home-training." Don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity to train with one of our foremost Instructors this Sunday. Register now at onlinedojo.gkrkarate.com/shihan-anthony-ryan-seminar A replay of the session will be made available to all participants soon after the event.

I have a few spots left for the Saturday 2:15-3:15 pm class, but plenty for the 1-2 pm class. If Saturday timings don't work for you, Sensei Russell teaches two classes on Sunday morning. Bookings close 1 hour prior to class start time. Just a reminder, due to Covid-19 restrictions, spectators wont be allowed in the dojo. You can drop the students off ...and collect them after class. New Prime Dojo address: Unit 2, 75-85 Elm Park Drive. See you all there! Sensei Sana See more

19.01.2022 Sensei Sana here. One of the most common misconceptions about kata is that it is designed to fight multiple opponents because of the numerous angles it takes. A kata angle represents the angle you are taking relative to your opponent. So, these angles could be you getting out of the way, or you controlling your opponent, executing a takedown, a foot trip, taking the back, attacking from the side, etc. Here you can see I'm using Saifa to take multiple angles, albeit they're t...he same angle due to my stationary camera, the concept remains the same. I switch between squaring up to my opponent and angling off to avoid haymakers and wrist / collar grips. Remove yourself from the opponent's attack line and position yourself where your weapons are facing them whilst theirs facing somewhere else. Keep the opponent in front of you, but don't be in front of the opponent. See more

19.01.2022 Hi guys!! So with the lockdown being imposed as of midnight tonight, we are still running tonights classes. Please book if you wish to come via my number 0438171216 and be quick as theres limited spots left! S.Rhys

19.01.2022 Hello everyone, Sensei Sana here. Hope you're enjoying the online zoom classes. Tomorrow we'll be workshopping Seiunchin - Kata & Bunkai. If you don't know the kata, doesn't matter. Just join in and learn body mechanics. After all, it's all self defense! The goal here is to learn how to fish your arms around your opponent's limbs as Seiunchin means to grab and pull. If you have a partner on whom your like to practice these awesome moves, bring them along! They don't even need to know karate. If you don't have a partner, make a dummy. I made one for $13 with pool noodles and duct tape. Meet Patricia. She's currently a white belt. See you tomorrow at 10:30am on zoom!

18.01.2022 KIDS DRESS UP CLASS - For all kids under 13, here's your chance to show your Sensei your best superhero or villain power-move! Sensei Marg and Sensei Sarah will be taking the dress up class. All grades are welcome! For those who'd like to get in on the action, sign up to the online dojo onlinedojo.gkrkarate.com and you'll receive a Zoom link in your email. We'll be on zoom everyday See you there!

15.01.2022 Having a casual read of the Bubishi - The Bible of Karate. I wonder where I've seen this move... More importantly, I love the translation, "Little demons remove their boots and squat down" See you all next week! Sensei Sana

06.01.2022 Hello GKR Students! Sensei Sana here. I'm hoping to see you all tomorrow morning at 10:30am! 06.01.2022 Dropped in yesterday to the new Hoppers Crossing dojo to help get it ready for students. It is going to be awesome. Looking forwards to running my first Sunday class in there on 28 June.

04.01.2022 Well done to those who showed up for the no-gi class. We focused on basic self defence techniques - From wrist grabs, to choke holds, to bear hugs. The purpose of this class was to break down the mental model of not being able to do karate without a gi on. Karate was made for self defence. We should be able to perform in our school wear, office wear, loungewear and even sleepwear! Hope you all had fun. Next week will be a Grand Final Footy class , so wear your favourite club's t-shirt (can be any sports club, and if you don't have a favourite, you can wear anything). See you there! Sensei Sana

04.01.2022 The new Hoppers Crossing dojo is coming along well. Remember to book in if you are planning to come to classes

03.01.2022 First class Monday 20th April will you be there?

02.01.2022 Excellent work to everyone who showed up for the Saturday class. As much as it sounds cheesy, your senseis really like to see you. When the going gets tough, the tough get going! You're not the lazy ones, you're not the complainers, you just show up and do stuff, and that's what matters. Join us every Saturday from your lounge room, bedroom, garage, wherever you can find a little bit of space. Organise a 3 day free trial: https://onlinedojo.gkrkarate.com/ See you there!

02.01.2022 Attention to all Australian students and instructors: Id like to update you all on a recent decision weve made about our tournament schedule for the remainder... of 2020. Given the ongoing health concerns and the likely hesitation many people may have to travel as a result of the Coronavirus situation, we have decided not to hold a GKR Karate Australian Titles in 2020. As you know, it has been a tradition of GKRs for the last 20+ years to hold a National tournament at the end of each year, but the probable lack of interstate entries would have greatly diminished its national status. What we will do instead is push our State Titles back to November (instead of September) and these will become the major end-of-year event on the GKR competition calendar in 2020. This will give all regions the chance to hold some local tournaments in September/October in the lead up to the November State Champs. Your Regional Instructor will keep you updated regarding this in the coming weeks. Thank you for your understanding.
