23.01.2022 Today is the 9th Australian National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence with almost 6000 schools taking part. The aim is to raise awareness through bul...lying prevention programs and initiatives designed to empower everyone in the community to live fulfilling lives free from all forms of bullying. Day’s like today are not only crucial in raising awareness, but also a reminder that we need to be involved in the campaign to end bullying EVERY day. GKR Karate stands together in support of this fantastic initiative and encourages all students to head to https://bullyingnoway.gov.au/ to find a wealth of resources to help with identifying, understanding, and managing bullying behaviour. #NDA2019

08.01.2022 Go-Kan-Ryu Karate (GKR) is a traditional Japanese style of karate. GKR was founded by Robert Sullivan in Adelaide, South Australia. Robert first began training in the art of karate in 1964, and spent time training and teaching in both Japan and the USA before establishing GKR in 1984. GKR Karate is taught in a non-contact environment and promotes both character and physical development. GKR is a club for all ages and promotes self-defence, fitness, coordination, discipline, c...onfidence and stress relief. People of all walks of life can train together and learn the art of karate in a safe, fun and encouraging environment. If you would like to know more about GKR, from class times, to prices or anything else, you can contact the Senior Instructor for Adelaide on 0404 841 968, email at [email protected], or via the regions primary Facebook page GKR Karate Region 23 Adelaide

08.01.2022 HAPPY NEW YEAR AND WELCOME BACK! On behalf of Kancho and all of our senior teaching personnel, I’d like to wish you a ‘Happy January’ and welcome you back to ka...rate classes in 2019. I hope that this year can yield some momentous gains with your training as you continue on your inspiring path towards Black Belt and beyond. As you lay out your grading ambitions for this coming year, please remember that regular training in itself should be the seen as an empowering goal worth striving for. Gradings are exciting, but they are secondary to the act of maintaining a disciplined training regime throughout the average year’s many distractions. I say this because while you are training, you will invariably be the strongest version of yourself both mentally and physically. January usually represents the ‘honeymoon period’ for our new year resolutions, but the sense of self-discipline that karate training develops will keep the ‘iron in your spine’ for the entire years’ worth of schooling, work or other personal pursuits. Karate also breeds patience, and this is an essential quality when setting longer term goals. Most people over-estimate what they can achieve in a week but under-estimate what they can achieve in a year. It’s easy to become side-tracked or lured away by other seemingly more comfortable activities (Netflix comes to mind:). But remember the grass is always greener where you water it, so stay regular with your training and aim to continually uphold the spirit of Budo and the principles outlined in our Dojo Kun. Have a fantastic start to the year! Warm regards Shihan Gavin Samin Assistant Chief Instructor GKR Karate

04.01.2022 I would like to extend my very deepest sympathies to all of our karate friends in New Zealand and especially in Christchurch, who are no doubt reeling from the ...horrendous events that took place yesterday. I am thinking of you all and hope that your loved ones and friends were not among those immediately affected. A terrible tragedy in an otherwise beautiful and peaceful city! I wish you all strength and healing in the days, weeks and months ahead.

02.01.2022 Great class with Sensei Barry. Welcome to our new students Ryan, Harry and Tyson.
