24.01.2022 Oakleigh South Champions Shaun- silver in Kumite (AND scored his first Ippon) and bronze in Kata Christina- gold in Kata and Kumite... Victor- gold in Kata Andrea- bronze in Kata Chris- silver in Kumite UPDATE: (not pictured) Jordan also taking home a gold medal in Kumite and a silver in Kata. Sensei Harrison, (pictured), Sensei Neil and Sensei Bec are all incredibly proud of every single student. Well done champions! Oakleigh South number 1!

24.01.2022 **ATTENTION STUDENTS AND FAMILIES** Due to new Government restrictions, effective 11.59pm last night (Wednesday 8th July 2020), we are unable to run classes in the dojo for the next 6 weeks. As always, our top priority is everyones safety both in an outside the dojo. With this in mind, ZOOM classes will recommence as of next Monday 13th July 2020 and will be available AT NO COST to all Region 5 students. The link for the ZOOM classes will be included in the email sent to yo...u by the club and a timetable will be available shortly. We are looking forward to seeing you all in the ZOOM classes next week, continuing on with your training like the true champions you are! Sensei Brett, our Regional Manager and Zone Director, will be offering one-on-one ZOOM session to students over the next six weeks. This is a fantastic opportunity not to be missed. It's not every day that you get the opportunity to receive feedback and tips from GKR's highest ranked instructor in Victoria. More information regarding cost and availability will be published soon. Keep a look out and make sure you get in quick as the sessions will book out fast. To advance your training even further, Kata packs are available to purchase from the online dojo. We strongly encourage all students who have not already done so, to get onto the online dojo and purchase their grade level kata packs (and even the next few kata above) so that you can continue to work on and refine your kata ... maybe even learn a few new ones too. Theyre a worthwhile investment and will help you progress on your karate journey. While were on the subject of progress and your karate journey, GKR will be implementing ZOOM gradings, starting late July. Your instructors will be nominating students to be assessed for their next grade level so it is really important that we see you in the ZOOM classes and you continue to work hard. Its really important for everyone to keep on training in the current climate, it is good for the body, mind and soul. Everyone should have received an email and text today notifying you that all direct debit payments will be suspended as of tomorrow and will be reactivated once the 6 week lockdown has been lifted (an email will be sent out a week prior to reactivation). If you have not received your email, please contact your instructor and they will follow it up for you. Remember- the comeback is always stronger than the setback, we will get through this! 19.01.2022 A great class tonight where students were asked to close their eyes and picture themselves at either their local, regional, state or world cup tournament in the final round, going for gold. Then they did their "finals" kata in top gear (not training gear). Stellar performance! R5 tournament here we come!!

16.01.2022 Hi All, Please be aware that there will be no classes running in line with government regulations as of today. This doesn't mean your training has to stop! The club will have online resources available soon and will be in touch regarding these shortly. It's also a good idea to practice some basics, do some stretching and maybe some shadow kumite or kata to keep yourself healthy and fit during lockdown!... Really excited to see every single coloured belt and above keen, ready and willing to dive head first into our first regional tournament on March 18. Even more impressed by how respectful we were during our kumite and how your priorities is always your partner, over the points. It's a great atmosphere to be a part of.
