25.01.2022 Can anyone see the queen? Yeah I can’t either. It’s like finding a needle in a hay stack. Wish us luck!

25.01.2022 Had a swarm removal off a tree branch in kin kora this afternoon. It was a pretty quick and easy one compared to log removals. I swept the swarm into the box and could see that the bees immediately made a bee line for inside which means the queen likely was in the box. I got a little present from one of them around the 5 minute mark and at the end of the video you can see a bit of the March.

20.01.2022 Transferring the bees to the nuc

20.01.2022 Bees in they're new home

19.01.2022 This tree was cut down not knowing it was home to bees The chainsaw man only recieved nine stings We had to use this machine to relocate the tree/bees home away from the house so we could open the tree up to relocate the bees the next day. Stay tuned!

14.01.2022 We had a hive that made its home in this support stump, the entry point a hole from old pest control drilled into the log. Not being able to cut it open like the last, we've rigged the smoker set up at a bottom entry point of the hive with some tube to get down deeper into the colony, they started to make a move shortly after. The bee vacuum box got its maiden use today thanks to Noel Tysoe's handy work which worked a treat sucking the bees and eventually the queen out of the... hive! We could soon see the bees trying to get into the vacuum box instead of the hive which was a good indication we had queen bee. After shaking most of the bees on the ground instead of in the nuc box itself, we boxed it up and the bees went marching in shortly after, thankfully my terrible aim still got the queen. We'll leave the hive in situ for the next week or two so they get comfortable with their new digs, they'll be able to transfer honey already in the stump and the baby brood can hatch out and still have a home to go to! Thanks to the bee whisperer lending a hand as well and the boss Katelyn whose got the newborn at home and still let's me out to do activities! And to Daz and Rachel for letting us help them with they're bee problem!

13.01.2022 The swarm removed today 6.9.20

13.01.2022 Harvesting a flow hive! Ended up with about 7kgs of honey out of 3 frames

10.01.2022 Was a good day but it come at a cost. I learnt a very valuable lesson today, work clothes aren’t bee proof. At least 15 stings later we managed to get the bees in there new home. These bees were not impressed with us trying to relocate them. But once we got them in there they settled down.

10.01.2022 Another removal today that went well! I'll put up some more photos later, but using a vacuum and smoke we managed to extract the queen from this hive in a house support stump. The bees were marching into the nuc as we left!

08.01.2022 Tree hive removal

07.01.2022 The latest removal was a success. A big hive which nearly filled 2x10 frame boxes with they're comb. They're now happy with they're new digs at our property.

06.01.2022 Some frames from the hive that swarmed the other day. When the bee's aren't too happy (for a number of reasons, this time i think they don't like plastic frames) they'll start growing some new queen cells, which are the longer ones not part of the comb, and some will take off. Out of one strong colony its been separated into 3 including the swarm

05.01.2022 We had some unwelcome critters in our new hive! It looks like they were small hive beetle larvae which can quickly destroy the colony. We've froze the affected frames and the hive is looking great still!

01.01.2022 A hive became unhappy and swarmed leaving the box a bit too big for its colony. The half box super was due for a rob so we took that from the colony and got about 11kg out of it!
