12.01.2022 Dear Players, 2020 isnt turning out as we had imagined it. Normally at this time of the year we would be well advanced in planning for our Hard Court Championships at the end of September and opening up registrations for the Glam Slam. With the rates of COVID 19 fluctuating wildly here in Melbourne, we have had to put planning on hold. Heres the current state of our GLTA sanctioned tournaments. VicTennis Hard Court Championships- now in its 4th year we hope to stage it at ...Albert Reserve 25-27 September. Tennis Australia and the Victorian Governments Change our Game organisation (Womens participation) have supplied grant money to help stage this event in 2020. Details available in early August. Glam Slam at the Australian Open- We hope to run an event during the last weekend of the Australian Open 29-31 January . We know it is important for us to get together again, compete, experience a Grand Slam event from the inside, socialize and play the game we love. To date, Australia also remains closed for tourists and at the moment interstate travel; it is difficult to predict the situation moving forward. Tennis remains subject to strict guidelines which severely limits many aspects of tournament play. We have these options: 1. GLTA tournament for all players including interstate & International Guests - business as normal scenario 2. GLTA tournament for all players Grades - Local and interstate players- Aussie only option 3. GLTA Tournament for local Victorian Players only. - State wide option. 4. Cancel events (notification at least a month before but unforeseen circumstances may force us to cancel at anytime). Last resort option The Glam Slam in its current form is in the unique position as an AO integrated event , venues and access to Melbourne Park is dependent on what shape the AO takes in 2021. The tournament team is working with our partners Tennis Australia and Tennis Victoria to make it an enjoyable and safe event for all participants and guests. We will keep posting announcements as details are clarified by our partners and then more regularly as January gets closer. Best regards and wishing you all health and wellness.
