20.01.2022 When you are thinking of the lives to be protected in a home and someone says;

18.01.2022 Have you thought about what you would do if a house fire occurred? Read below a post from today in the Bay 93.9 Local news! Filling a bin with water is not the answer - ask us about of fire bundles with extinguishers, blankets and escape hammers all installed for $125... Quick thinking neighbor stops unit fire in its tracks A Norlane man is taking a well deserved day off after he put out a fire in a neighbouring unit. The blaze broke out in one of four neighbouring units on Holdsworth Court just before 8pm Wednesday. Cory Raeburn, who was in bed at the time, was alerted to the unfolding incident by the property's smoke alarms and his housemate who noticed the flames. "I was in my flannelette pj's, so I chucked my dressing gown on and ran outside," the Bricklayer told Geelong Broadcasters. "You could see through the window the flame on the kitchen table." After yelling out to see if anyone was inside, the pair entered the unoccupied unit and discovered a bigger blaze burning at the fridge and freezer. "..it was fully engulfed in flames, (I was) trying to think what can we do?" Cory said. "I grabbed one of their bins and thought I'll fill that with water...but by the time I filled it it was too heavy. I then remembered that we've got fire hose reels attached to our units, so (I) ended up running in there with the fire hose and managed to put it out." Cory said it was tricky battling the fire because of the smoke. "It was very hot, I've got a bit of a blister or something on top of my mouth from breathing in the heat from the smoke," he said. "It started getting really warm towards the end...it was just the smoke that was the killer." Fire crews were called, however the blaze was extinguished by the time they arrived. "They said (I've) done a good job, then I asked them if I ever get sick of bricklaying can I hit them up for a job?" Cory said he is glad he was able to put the flames out before it caused more damage. "...it's just something you do," he said "if you were in that situation and it was your house and someone had the opportunity to put it out so all of your belongings didn't get ruined, I'd probably expect the same thing from someone." Cory suffered some smoke inhalation and is now resting at home. The fire is being treated as suspicious with the cause to be determined.

17.01.2022 What happens when your service company doesn't have every service person with an electrical licence and a hard wired alarm fails - this! We have several pictures like this on the wall of shame - don't be mislead - just because they are big doesn't mean they are good. The code clearly says a hard wired alarm must be replaced with a hard wired alarm but some companies haven't read that section clearly.

17.01.2022 What causes the most fires? Cooking - that's why you need a fire blanket and extinguisher so you can do something about it. Someone is awake when cooking, not so much with the third highest fatality risk - heating!... Its cold now so pay attention to those sources that can cause a problem. If you need any advice we're happy to help, just call 1300856263 and ask for Scott

13.01.2022 ARE YOU THINKING OF RENOVATING A PRIVATE HOME OR A RENTAL? This applies to private homes as well as rentals! 09.01.2022 Thank you to Glasshouse Home Safety for their lovely gift of delicious cupcakes, very yummy guys!

09.01.2022 Real life superhero! Children won’t wake to the sound of a smoke alarm- that’s why interconnected alarms work so well- the parents get alerted to smoke in the Childrens bedroom and can have a chance to save them. Don’t think ‘it won’t happen to me’ think of what the child is really worth and make sure. We are specialist in fire protection not just electricians having a go at smoke alarms. Call us on 1300856263 and be sure.

07.01.2022 Yet another to add to the wall of shame! When you see this - it is caused by the technician not being an electrician and not being able to rectify the issue immediately so they screw a battery alarm onto the alarm and leave exposed live wires. This well known company has a name that says they inspect detectors, but dont even used licenced testers. We're talking about life safety here - this sort of bodgy job risks real lives.

02.01.2022 If you have an electrical fire don’t use water if you want to live. Every home should have a fire extinguisher but not one of those tiny ones from Bunnings as they don’t last more than 15 seconds in use. We don’t just do smoke alarms we’re a home safety company so we supply 2.5kg DCP extinguishers, mount them and show you how to uses them. It might mean the difference between a minor inconvenience and some smoke damage rather than all possessions lost and a complete house rebuild.
