24.01.2022 Tomorrow is Remembrance Day and in commemoration of this solemn day, Ron Wollington, a resident at CapellaBay in Queensland, has put pen to paper and written a poem. Ron’s poem, titled ‘Remembrance Day’ is a wonderful tribute to all those who fought and died in wars. The black and white photo was taken in 1945 when Private Ron Wollington was 19 years old. Ron was enlisted in the Royal Ulster Riffle Brigade and he often talks about the comradery and old fashioned mateship that... has lasted a lifetime. Thank you Ron, for sharing your poetry with all of us. We are sure it will touch the hearts of many people.

17.01.2022 A wonderful message and song from our Buderim Views entertainers - Eric and Jacinta Read. "The great joys of entertaining in aged care in south-east Queensland ...are the human connections we make, the special friendships and people who touch our lives. One of our friends is this gentleman, the very talented Lex Shepard, a resident at McKenzie Aged Care Home - Buderim Views on the Sunshine Coast. Lex plays harmonica and has a beautiful voice and joins Eric Reads Variety Shows at Buderim Views each month for a few tunes to the great delight of fellow residents. Recently, Eric recorded Lexs music at Buderim Views and the result is this gem, Danny Boy, featuring Lex on vocals and harmonica. We want to share Lexs music here and send our best wishes to our friends in aged care across south-east Queensland. Eric and Jacinta Read

04.01.2022 LEST WE FORGET - REMEMBRANCE DAY 11.11.2020 At 11am on 11 November 1918 the guns on the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare. The moment when hostilities ceased on the Western Front became universally associated with the remembrance of those who had died in the war. This conflict had brought about the mobilisation of over 70 million people and left between 9 and 13 million dead, perhaps as many as one-third of them with no known grave. A...t the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, all McKenzie Aged Care homes and offices will observe one minute’s silence, in memory of those who served and continue to serve protecting our country. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. Lest we forget.

Thank you for your continuing support at McKenzie Aged Care, we value your dedication, your kind, caring ways and recognise the valuable role you play in enhancing the lives and well-being of our residents.
