24.01.2022 Very proud to share that we have just submitted a nomination for Bridgewater / Gagebrook Clean Up Group for the 2017 Tasmanian Landcare Community Group Award. We are in awe of the work that this group has achieved and we believe they deserve acknowledgement for their inspiring determination and advocacy! We would like to thank Landcare Tasmania for their support with the nomination process and we are excited to see the award results at this year's 2017 Gathering, please join us! http://www.landcaretas.org.au/gathering2017

24.01.2022 Looking forward to supporting this year’s Landcare Conference - Celebrating 25 Years of Landcare Tas! Keep an eye on this for further info:

22.01.2022 Lovely crisp day to explore our reserve, keep an eye out for visiting black cockatoos & our flitting pardalotes amongst our rare risdon peppermint

22.01.2022 Briar Blitz 2018 - A great team effort with over 20 of these sneaky environmental weeds eradicated from our bushland fringe.

20.01.2022 Thankyou to Wendy for kindly sharing a lovely snapshot of a young forest raven in our hilltop reserve - ravenously waiting, as she notes, for its parents to return #landcaretasmania #bushlandreserve #glebehill #birdlifetasmania

20.01.2022 With a silent flutter above keep an eye out for several Little Forest Bats currently hunting in the early evening around the Wendy Andrew Entrance (spotted again tonight just after 7:30pm). If you stand still and don't point a torch or a flash at them, they will happily chase insects around you, one circled and dove right around us for quite a while. Example of one in flight below (photo credit James Booth natureshare.org.au).

19.01.2022 Please put in your thoughts and ideas for our local bushland reserve to help form the draft Reserve Activity Plan for the next decade. Drop a note online via the link or join Council and consultants on a walk and talk up in the reserve scheduled for 2.30pm Sunday Aug 30th (meet near the parkland adjacent to 60 Glebe Hill Road).

19.01.2022 Rocks thrown at Echidna: This poor little local has ventured down into our top park and unfortunately had to dodge rocks thrown at it by Glebe Hill boys this afternoon. Please let children know that they are more fur than hard spine and can easily be injured - please respect them and contact ourselves or Bonorong if you find them in an exposed area. This one was gently returned to its bushland home nearby to avoid inquisitive dogs & children...

19.01.2022 Hi all, just a broader community share for sustainable transport option to the city, please fill in survey to show your support!

19.01.2022 Howrah Primary School Grade 4 ‘Cadet Geologists’ recently joined us for an investigation of Tranmere foreshore with geology specialists Peter & Grace. Very grateful for their time & expertise! Thankyou to NRM South who sponsored the excursion! Watch this space - the students drawings from the day will be incorporated into our current trailhead project!

19.01.2022 Keep an eye out for our feathered friends on a weekend in May to help keep track of their declining numbers! Interested? Check out: https://naturetrackers.com.au/takePart.php

18.01.2022 We would like to make a special thankyou for the incredible contribution of Trish Hodge from mina-nina. Her research, guidance & engaging bush walk & talk with Howrah Primary School gave the most meaningful layer to this project...

18.01.2022 Very impressed with Fonzie a trained Serrated Tussock & Hawkweed hunting dog! We need him on our side of the river! Thanks #LandcareTasmania for sharing this story! #WeedEradication #Weeds

18.01.2022 Hi all, if you would like to discover more about our local wildflowers then join in the specialist tour of our neighbouring reserve at Waverley Flora Park this weekend! https://www.ccc.tas.gov.au//guided-walk-waverley-wildflow/

17.01.2022 We love all creatures and are particularly concerned for our reserve’s little bettong community - (we’ve recorded cats hunting in their pocket habitat) we hope this inquiry helps to find fair and humane solutions for all.

17.01.2022 Hi all, please see an upcoming intriguing cruise that our neighbours at Tranmere Clarence Plains Land and Coast Care have assisted in organising. Details are below, make sure to RSVP by 12th of April, places are limited!

16.01.2022 For those that wanted to know more about what was in Nick’s bag of tricks - here are the field guides he uses regularly...

15.01.2022 Inspiring to see this return to good land management!

15.01.2022 A short summary of what we discovered evidence of living in the reserve today: Noisy Miners (crying out to protect their young) Goldfinch (from a small nest at ...the tip of a Hopbush branch) Tree Martins (darting above us - hoping for disturbed insects) Christmas Beetle (shimmering beetle near exposed tree trunk) Grey Butcher Bird (calling from the distance) Bennett's Wallaby (young orphaned one by its erratic movement) Spotted Pardalote (an adult and two young flew overhead) Currawong (calling out - alerting danger - us or hawk above) Striated Pardalote (calling from afar) Shining Bronze Cuckoo (calling away, note they lay eggs in others nests) Bettong (narrow holes with one sharp end - usually truffle sized imprint at base - note Bettongs spread the spores of these underground fungi acting as a key pollinator in the forest) Rabbits (more oval shaped hole - usually with droppings nearby to demonstrate territory or warren digging practice rather than food hunting) Echidna (broad hole shows wide clawing action searching for insects) Dragonfly (golden striped dragonfly - hovered right amongst group and landed vertically on branch nearby) See more

15.01.2022 A huge thankyou for the volunteers who recently assisted to revegetate our exposed Watton Place Entry for National Tree Day - Howrah! Very grateful to Landcare Tasmania for arranging the plants through Fifteen Trees and to Clarence City Council for the tree guards!

14.01.2022 War on Waste made it clear - Cash for Containers is already the right solution for so many other states, and we have even more to protect here in Tassie, support and share this petition below: aiming for 10,000!

14.01.2022 The hint of chocolate in the air is back, this year has been incredible for our precious Chocolate lilies (Dichopogon strictus), take a stroll in the reserve and enjoy

09.01.2022 Hi all, if you live near or walk through our stunning hilltop reserve, please fill in this brief survey by Clarence City Council on the proposed Draft 2021-2030 Glebe Hill Bushland Reserve Activity Plan https://www.yoursay.ccc.tas.gov.au/glebe-hill-reserve-activ

08.01.2022 As the days get shorter spare a thought for our native neighbours and their vulnerability to roaming pets. Our bettongs and birdlife have received growing unwanted attention over the past year... Check out the new Tassie Cat website to get great ideas on keeping your little one happy & safe at home! https://www.tassiecat.com/about. P.S. National Desexing Month is coming up this July and there are two local vets that offer discounted treatments - check out: https://ndn.org.au/.

08.01.2022 Grateful for Lisa's engaging Bat Chat evening at Howrah Primary and looking forward to purchasing Bat sonar equipment to better understand the movements of our local nocturnal creatures!

08.01.2022 Very appreciative of the great team of locals who stepped up to clean up our local bushland reserve on Sunday! Construction waste, takeaway plastic and even a Christmas tree were pulled out of our natural area - each year we are thankfully finding less and less :)

08.01.2022 Balloon releases are absolutely lethal for our wildlife.

06.01.2022 What a haul! Sadly it seems our bushland fringe at Howrah has been used a convenient dumping ground - including multiple dog bags, beer cans & even five Christmas trees blocking a major drain. Thankyou to everyone who gave a hand giving our native neighbours a safe home again! Thanks also to Sally & Clarence City Council for their support!

06.01.2022 Stunning sunset over a stunning reserve! Don’t forget Earth Hour this Sat 30th - see below for 12 ideas to acknowledge the day! https://www.earthhour.org.au//12-things-to-do-during-earth

06.01.2022 What an incredibly successful day, thankyou so much to Acton Landcare and all of our volunteers for the day, couldn't have done it without you! Looking forward to putting the funds toward well needed animal monitoring and bat sonar equipment!

06.01.2022 Take a stroll this Sunday on the the stunning Arm End Reserve...

05.01.2022 For those who walk their dogs up in the Reserve please note Council have kindly installed a dog waste bin at the Howrah entry (corner of Merindah St. & Vienne Drive). We have picked up over 50 discarded full dog waste bags in the nearby bushland last year and we hope this helps to address that. Our bettongs & bandicoots are fearful of areas where canine droppings have been left (bagged or not) so please keep our little neighbours in mind whilst up there enjoying their stunning home.

04.01.2022 A great way to start a stunning day yesterday, Betsy Mack Trail sign installed & threatened species flagged for Council weed management, thanks to all those involved!

04.01.2022 Glebe Hill Landcare would like to wish all a happy start to the new year! Looking forward to working further with the community in 2018 to protect and share the hidden life up in our little hilltop reserve!

02.01.2022 Unfortunately we collected our monitoring camera to find a cat has been perusing our bettong area in our protected reserve. If you have a feline friend, please keep it safely contained overnight to help our little residents. https://www.glebehilllandcare.org.au/species_monitoring

May there continue to be many partnerships like this across our stunning state! https://www.easternshoresun.com.au/?p=2954

01.01.2022 A huge thankyou for everyone who attended the Interpretation Trail launch this afternoon & the National Tree Day planting!
