17.01.2022 ****** DENTAL RESTRICTIONS HAVE NOW BEEN DOWN SCALED TO LEVEL ONE !! (As of Mon 11th of May) Well done everyone! ***** It sure is getting chilly here in Melbourne!! We hope everyone is healthy and well. How are you all going? We have now been advised by the Australian Dental Association that we are back to LEVEL 1 restrictions.... This means that we can now carry out most dental treatments again - however we remain vigilant and are still maintaining our elevated level of infection control precautions taken. (1) We are still requesting patients to please arrive 5 mins prior to your appointment and remain in your car. After we have wiped down and disinfected everything including door handles, the credit card machine, the counter the previous pt may have leaned on, we will call you to bring you straight through. (2) We encourage adult patients to attend by themselves and children to attend only with one adult to minimize human traffic. (3) We request patients to use hand sanitser on arrival and then provide you with gloves to wear. We have found this helps everyone become more aware of not touching their face and other objects. (5) All our staff are now required to wear masks at all times. We also physically distance from each other where ever possible and now have staggered breaks. (6) All patients are carefully screened re: : Travel history of themselves & family they are in contact with. (in the last 21 days) : Health history of themselves and any family members they are in contact with should anyone have symptoms of COVID-19 (In the last 21 days) : In the last 21 days, have they attended any group gatherings with people they don't usually live with. : Have they been observing the physical-distancing measures : We are also requesting any patients or family of patients who are awaiting COVID-19 test results to please postpone your appointment until result is out. We thank you for your patience, understanding and support during this trying time. Best wishes from all of us at Glen Eira Dental -

15.01.2022 Hello again. It has now been confirmed by the Australian Dental Association that we are to reschedule all dental appointments during this snap lockdown. We will only be permitted to see patients in severe pain, facial swelling or dental trauma. We are working on contacting all our patients as we speak. Our sincere apologies and we thank you in advance for your patience.

14.01.2022 SCHOOL IS GOING BACK! WOW! There will no doubt be a mix of emotions. Are you doing cartwheels or quietly cherishing the last couple of weeks of kids being at home? In the rush to get the haircuts, uniforms, lunch boxes ready. How about we check in to see how our kids have been brushing their teeth? It certainly has been interesting in our household the last few weeks trying to institute a routine of "brush teeth, wash face, uniform on and brush hair" didn't always go accordi...ng to plan! What has it been like in your household? Glen Eira Dental believes that prevention is better than cure. We would like to take this opportunity to show you the tools you can use to help you assess the effectiveness of your kids' teeth brushing skills. In the clinic, we use DISCLOSING SOLUTION or DISCLOSING TABLETS (you can actually buy these from some pharmacists). There is even now a disclosing toothpaste on the market as well called PlaqueGlo! I will attach a link at end of this post. All these products stain plaque that is usually tooth coloured and difficult for you to see. ( Plaque is a thin film of bacteria that grows on teeth which causes tooth decay and gum disease when left for too long). For the kiddies, I like to tell them plaque is like poo on teeth - it usually grosses them out enough to boost their motivation to get better at brushing :-) When using disclosing products, it is wise to protect clothes, towels and surfaces as they do stain! Don't have access to these? No worries. You can actually make your own! They may not provide as much detail as the products on the market, but they do work. Just watch the food dye though. DIY Disclosing Solution All you need is Vaseline, cotton buds, food colouring and water. 1. Apply Vaseline to the lips to avoid colouring them in. 2. Mix 3-5 drops of food colouring with 10 mls of water. 2. Dip the cotton bud into the food colouring mixture and run along the teeth. 3. Rinse the mouth out to reveal plaque. You can do this BEFORE or AFTER brushing to check how well your kids, or even you have been brushing! We would love to know how you go with this! Please PM us your photos!! We will be running a competition over the next couple of weeks! The Plaque Removal Challenge! To see who are our superstar brushers! More detail to be revealed tomorrow!! Take care and stay warm! Here is the link about PlaqueGLO - Apologies for those who are not LA-LA fans! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pK2tZhQG6qk

14.01.2022 How are you all on this chilly Melbourne day? It has been a month since our last post and WOW .... a lot has changed. We hope you are all coping ok. Along with Victoria's Stage 4 lock down. Early this morning the Victorian Government mandated all dental clinics go into Level 3 dental restrictions commencing today. Level 3 dental restrictions means the following:... Provision of dental treatments are only allowed IF 1. they do not generate aerosols such as - dental examinations without the use of an air-jet. - the use of hand instruments for periodontal (gum) infection - extractions - Prescription of pain medication of antibiotics. - Management of soft tissue problems, e.g. ulcers, cut lip. 2. Water/air jets to be used only if we are treating these cases: - Root canal treatment to manage dental pain, or treatment of deep tooth decay - under a rubber dam - significantly damaged upper front teeth e.g. due to trauma, with treatment provided under dental dam - dental/oral health conditions at higher risk of negative outcomes if no access to timely intervention. - complex medically compromised patients with dental concerns which may compromise their health. - patients at a higher risk of rapid progression of dental disease if not treated urgently. - medically necessary dental care on referral from a medical practitioner. E.g. someone about to start chemotherapy. Should you have an upcoming dental appointment with us; you will receive a call from us to if it does not fall within the Level 3 Category. We apologies in advance for any inconvenience or confusion. Feel free to reach out to us if you have questions or concerns via our website at www.gleneiradental.com.au and click CONTACT US to leave a message; or PM us here. Glen Eira Dental sincerely wish everyone all the very best to stay safe, stay sane and somehow find a positive way to get through 2020!

06.01.2022 Hi everyone! We are almost through week 3 of Stage 4 lockdown! Yay!! How is everyone going?! There will be a limit of 100... participants. Lets see if we can all get our kids brushing better by the end of the lockdown! Feel free to share this post with your friends :-) See more

05.01.2022 A huge congratulations to all the participants for the teeth brushing competition we ran in September! In the last week we have received completed teeth brushing charts along with photos of all the childrens' amazing efforts! We decided to have 2 winners in each age group. We assessed all submissions based on TOTAL number of points gained as well as improvement - i.e. the less disclosed PINK plaque the better!! You should be all so proud of your efforts! ... We have spent the last hour or so getting in touch with all the the winning contestants and will get the prizes to you in the next week. We hope your children keep up the great brushing habits and hope that by disclosing the plaque, they have learnt that quite a bit of effort is actually involved to do a good job. It's a 2 minute brush .... not a 2 second brush! :-) Enjoy the beautiful weather everyone! See more

02.01.2022 Hello everyone. With some sadness we all received the news of metro Melbourne going back into Stage 3 lock down. Even though we could all see it coming ... I am sure it was still a shock to many. As an essential healthcare service, we are still here and operating with great care and caution. In the last few months, with the ebb and flow of cases going up and down. Glen Eira Dental have continued and will continue to carry out the most stringent infection control to ensure th...e safety of all our patients and staff. This will mean that we will continue to carry out the following: 1) No patients waiting in the waiting room. Please arrive 5 mins prior to your appt and remain in your car. After we have disinfected all surfaces following the previous appointment, we will call you to come in. (2) We will provide you with alcohol gel for your hands before and after treatment. (3) All our staff are now required to wear masks at all times. (4) Everyone is screened prior to their appointment been made (as well as the day before appointment). You will be asked: : Have you or any or your close contacts returned from overseas in last 21 days. : Have you or any or your close contacts had any symptoms consistent with COVID-19, e.g. cough, fever, sneezing, runny nose? : Are you or any of your close contacts currently awaiting results of a COVID-19 test. : Have you been in close contact with someone diagnosed with a +ve COVID case in the last 21 days. If your answer is YES to any of the above, we will need to reschedule your appointment for you. (5) We now have air filters in each room with Medical Grade H13 True HEPA Technology. We thank you for your patience and understanding during this trying time. The extra procedures and protocols are essential to helps us assess a patient's risk for COVID 19 and therefore we can keep you, our staff and other patients healthy and safe.
