25.01.2022 They couldn’t quite get the win in their first game, but nonetheless we are incredibly proud of these history making women - the first 12 to play 1st Grade Cricket for Glenelg! #gobays (Photos courtesy of Mark Brake)

24.01.2022 Check out this VERY exciting message from our President below Dear all life members, members, players and volunteers, It is with great pleasure that I announce the GDCC will have a team in the SACA Premier Cricket Women's 1st Grade Competition for the 2020/21 season for the first time in our long and proud history. ... This is a just reward for many people around the club who have fought hard for this over the last 4-5 years since we started our Women's Program. We now have a complete pathway for our girls and women players to progress and potentially play for the Scorpions, WBBL, and Australia. After missing out last year, the club had to go through a similar process again this year presenting to a selection committee and the Premier Cricket Committee delegates. We re-evaluated where we were at from last year's result, we liaised and promoted our case with many people at SACA, and made some key adjustments to our presentation - mainly around strengthening the playing squad without recruiting from other clubs as well as promoting the natural improvement of our playing group, playing at a higher standard with more specialised coaching. Adelaide University CC also put up a very strong case for inclusion as the sixth Women's 1st Grade team, but thankfully we were given the nod after the scoring process. There has been a number of people involved over the years, but I'd particularly thank both Graham Sedunary and Cheryl Cook for their sustained and passionate efforts to get this over the line. This is only the start of a lot of hard work as we want to make sure we have a competitive 1st Grade Women's team! We hope there may be some sort of announcement in the media shortly, so look out for that. I know many of the girls and women are already training hard preparing for the coming season. Just a reminder that the Presentation Night for last Season 2019/20 is at The Hwy on Friday the 4th of September, so please book with Bob Snewin ASAP. I look forward to seeing many of you then. Regards, Jarret Moyse GDCC President #gobays

08.01.2022 We’re delighted to announce the appointment of Sam McNally as our 1st Grade Men’s Coach. Sam will work with club coach Grant Francis, Ben Higgins (Development Coach) and the other assistant coaches. Sam is a Cricket Australia Level 3 coach, former SACA Coach of the Year (2014/15), coached Woodville for five seasons, and has spent a couple of seasons assisting with the Northern Mavericks in the Redbacks League competition. From a playing point of view, Sam played well over a h...undred 1st Grade games and won two 1st Grade Premierships at Woodville. We look forward to Sam bringing his positive energy to the group, developing our players, and wish him all the best in his new role. Sorry about the old pic (batting)...it’s the best we could do! We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Peter Muggleton for his six years of service as our 1st Grade coach, with the highlights over that period being the 2014/15 Twenty20 Premiership and 2015/16 One-Day Premiership. Mugs has a wealth of cricket knowledge and we hope to see him around the club in some capacity. #gobays
