25.01.2022 A message from BSLSC Board Chairperson, Sally Clark... We are currently taking registrations for our 2020/2021 season (this is a 50% registration for all groups - except social/general members). We are also holding a shorter Woodside Nippers season, each Sunday of term 3. Our bar facility is also open Wed - Fri and Sun from 4pm. If you are not currently getting any weekly emails from us or other communication, please email our Administrator Lorraine at [email protected] and she can ensure you are on our mailing list.

23.01.2022 Broome Surf Life Saving Club North West Training Facility Broome Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) has been serving the community since 1987. Broome SLSC is affiliated with Surf Life Saving Australia, the peak coastal water safety, drowning prevention and rescue authority in the nation.... The development of a new surf club facility in Broome has long been considered essential to meet the needs of the club and provide a North West Training Facility to support the growing Broome community. The Broome SLSC Board of Directors and the Building Advisory Committee, comprising of representatives from the Shire of Broome, BSLSC Directors, Broome SLSC members and architects, have been progressing both funding and design of a functional and iconic building to meet the needs of its membership and the community. Broome SLSC continues to update its funding partners and is pleased to announce our current timeline expects construction to commence in April 2021.

12.01.2022 Thumbs up to everyone who made our Sunday session a smashing success. We are purchasing another 30 chairs and 5 tables which should be ready for the weekend. Thumbs down to the lowlifes who felt the need to grab empty stubbies from our rubbish skip and smash them on the concrete in front of the shed doors where all our rescue equipment is stored.

11.01.2022 KIMBERLEY COVID-19 UPDATE Our community has always taken the COVID government directions seriously and this has kept us all safe. Today, new requirements start ...and once again we need to support business who are required to maintain a mandatory contact register for staff and patrons. This means when you go to businesses or venues and you are asked to provide your details for a contact register then please do so. It’s important to support the staff when they ask you to, they have a lot of pressure from this and they are working hard to get it right . We had to do it a little while ago and it has been reintroduced again as it is an additional protection measure and will assist with WA Department of Health contact tracing, should it be required. Businesses or venues required to keep a contact register, include: Food and licenced venues (restaurants, cafés, bars, pubs, taverns, nightclubs) Gyms, indoor sporting centres and pools Places of worship and funeral parlours Beauty and personal care services including hairdressers and barbers Galleries and museums Cinemas, theatres and other entertainment venues Auction houses and real estate inspections Community facilities, libraries and halls Zoos and amusement parks Function centres Accommodation facilities that already have check-in arrangements in place (i.e. hostels, hotels, large camp grounds) These places right across the Kimberley will be required to collect the date, name, telephone number and arrival time of all patrons, staff, visitors and contractors that attend the premises, other than to collect takeaway. The information will only be kept for 28 days and it can only be used for contact tracing. To assist businesses and venues, the WA Government has developed the free, SafeWA app, an online contact register system that uses QR Codes for patrons and staff to scan to register their attendance. It can be downloaded from Apple App Store or Google Play right now. A back up plan for those without a phone or the app is a paper-based register. Since this is very important. As with other COVID directions there are penalties for non-compliance, failing to comply with the new requirements to maintain a contact register could result in fines and penalties of up to $50,000 for an individual and $250,000 for a body corporate or 12 months’ imprisonment. Be kind to the staff managing the entry into the venues and provide you details, if not please accept you cannot enter, we are all in this together.
