25.01.2022 Glenelg Historical Society Newsletter April 2020 Dear Glenelg Historical Society Members,... As you are aware, in light of the current health situation and to respect the advice of public health specialists, GHS have cancelled all events until the December Christmas event when hopefully we can regroup and rejoice. Please continue to keep in touch with each other via electronic means and to wave or say hi at a distance if you see a member. We are very lucky to live in an area close to the beach and many parks where we can at least have some exercise and easily keeping our social distance. We wish you all the very best for Easter, even though it will take a different form this year. We are reliably assured by the Chief Health Officer, the Chief of Police and the SA Premier that the Easter Bunny performs an essential service and so may well be seen in our area over the next few days. Please keep your committee informed of any key events that we could share with the rest of the members. Best wishes Peter Alexander, President GHS

11.01.2022 TO All GHS Members. Hi all, best wishes to you at this challenging time from your GHS Committee. When the threat from the virus presented we acted immediately and cancelled the event scheduled for the Dunes for the 15th of March. We made that decision on the basis of ‘erring on the side of caution’. We will continue to act on that basis going forward. No planned events are confirmed at this time. The Jimmy Melrose event scheduled for the 5th of April is postponed until another time. We will keep in contact with you by newsletter from time to time. Keep safe and well and look forward to happier times post the virus.Best Regards, Peter Alexander, President.

10.01.2022 Sadly the photographer was asleep on the job or just having too much fun rolling those ring bowls. A fun time was had by all who played and enjoyed the BBQ. Thanks to all involved.

06.01.2022 Our committee was invited to the exhibition launch Tiati Wangkanthi Kumangka (Truth-Telling Together) today at the Bay Discovery Centre museum in collaboration with the Kaurna Nation. The exhibition is the first new permanent exhibition at the museum in twenty years an exciting time for us all. Tiati explores South Australia’s settlement history through a lens of truth-telling and lens from this year’s reconciliation theme, Grounded in Truth: Walk Together with Courage. The Letters Patent, South Australia’s founding document, will be available for viewing a rare opportunity as the document usually resides within the State archives. The launch included a Kaurna Welcome, smoking ceremony and dancing.
