02.01.2022 On Australia Day 1984 an all-day concert was staged at Colley Reserve in Glenelg. It was hot and many people in the crowd had been drinking for most of the day.... As night fell some people in the crowd started an ice fight, which initially was just in fun, but after a while several fights broke out and a riot erupted with the big crowd completely out of control. Police barricaded themselves into the police station in Moseley Square until back-up arrived. Police cars were torched and 63 people were arrested. The riot led to the foreshore eventually becoming a dry area. It did however spawn some pretty good T-shirts, like Come to Glenelg ... its a riot. From the book 'Adelaide Remember When' See more
