24.01.2022 Last night we had the pleasure of working with the Frankford/Birralee Volunteer Fire Brigade on a simulated structural fire. On arrival to the scene the brigades were faced with several exposures which included (training) gas bottles and other buildings. Crews had to remove the 240v fuse and then gain entry to the structure by using some of our latest power tools, and then proceeding to rescue Garry the manikin. Thankfully Garry has once again made a full recovery.

24.01.2022 A busy afternoon for our brigade, attending 2 seperate escaped burn offs. If you are planning to undertake any burn offs this weekend please be very mindful.. the scrub is already very dry!

22.01.2022 Our brigade has a crew returning to a vegetation fire at West Frankford today. Please be mindful if you are travelling along the Frankford Road near The Saddle today as there might be an increased level of emergency vehicles and heavy machinery in the area.

19.01.2022 Please be mindful if you are travelling along the West Tamar Highway!

18.01.2022 For those fire fighters looking for ideas on those rainy training nights, then check out Matt Davis's YouTube channel. His videos are fantastic, and he certainly has a good way of explaining the science behind fire and smoke. Here is one for an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luzPiLcURus&t=4s

18.01.2022 Earlier this year we had 4 members attend NSW to make up part of strike team 385. We all met so many nice people whilst there including Frank, who is the Senior Deputy Captain (2nd Officer) of the Mongarlow Volunteer Fire Brigade. Frank is in Tasmania at the moment visiting his family and contacted us a couple of days ago. We were very fortunate enough to have Frank visit our brigade last night and have a catch up. Here’s to many more years of friendship with our interstate colleagues!

15.01.2022 Last night we completed some refresher work with drafting and basic hose handling skills. The fire season is fast approaching, and even these basic skills are extremely important!

14.01.2022 Last night we elected a new 2nd Officer and another Leading Fire Fighter (LFF) for our brigade. Rod McLean recently stood down from the 2nd officer role after spending more than 17 years in the Glengarry brigade leadership group. We can’t thank you enough for your dedication and support during that time Rod. Rod will remain in the leadership group as he was then elected into the new LFF role. A massive congratulations to Andrew Brunacci for being the successful nominee for the 2nd Officer role, and another congratulations to Luke Jolly for being elected into the other LFF role.

12.01.2022 An interesting way to spend the afternoon! As always, it was a pleasure to work alongside the Frankford/Birralee Volunteer Fire Brigade too.

10.01.2022 Early and effective CPR is an extremely important factor when assisting somebody who goes into cardiac arrest. Our brigade carries resuscitation equipment, including an AED, and we are also registered with the Early Access To Defib Program. It’s never too late to learn CPR!

04.01.2022 Please be mindful if you are driving in our area this evening as multiple emergency service vehicles will be working In the area checking fire hydrants. Remember to slow to 40km/h when passing a vehicle with flashing lights

01.01.2022 At last nights training session we became more familiar with different branch techniques and the importance of flow rates. A valuable lesson which helps us make the most of the equipment that is available to us.

01.01.2022 Our brigade is fortunate to have one of our very own members on this course. A massive congratulations to everyone, it sounds like it will be an excellent experience!
