23.01.2022 I spent a couple of hours working on the sketch for this painting, one afternoon, October 2017. I was in beautiful country Victoria, staying with my daughter Eve. She drove by as I sketched, and then I received a ph. call from her, saying she'd just seen a snake [ Tiger or Brown ] and for me to be on the watch. Definitely snake country at that time of the year, so this piece is called 'Snake Gully " Oil on canvas on board -- 46 x 61 cm. and will be in my May Exhibition, Petrie Tce. Brisbane. Invitation ?? 20.01.2022 Today in Brisbane, the skyline from this position on Campbell St. is quite different to what is seen in this painting. Painted in the 1990's prior to the demolition and subsequent new construction of the Royal Brisbane & Women's Hospital, this in fact, shows an important moment in Brisban's history. The beautiful brick stack and Womens' hospital [ green tower ] along with numerous other buildings are long gone, replaced by more up to date facilities. This is one of several similar subjects to be shown in my May / June exhibition -- opening night, 23rd May, Petrie Tce. Gallery, Brisbane.This is an oil on canves --61 x 91 cm. 20.01.2022 I saw a w/c painting of a washing basket many years ago, painted by the great American artist, Andrew Wyeth. It was a simple thing with beautiful sun - light on it. Thus began my love affair with cane baskets, and it would be no surprise to hear that I have a collection of them. 13.01.2022 These humble but beautiful Nasturtiums are from my garden, where I let them "roam" freely. They are a great source of joy and colour and I never tire of them. 08.01.2022 I think I must be close to heaven when painting wattle in my studio -- that beautiful Australian smell combined with the smell of Linseed oil. Glorious !!!!
