25.01.2022 With all lightning we had yesterday afternoon please keep an eye out for any trees which may have been struck and may possibly start to smoke when the weather warms again.

25.01.2022 Bill Slade (FFMV) Mat Kavanagh (FFMV) David Moresi (FFMV) Geoffrey Keaton (NSW RFS) Andrew O’Dwyer (NSW RFS)... Samuel McPaul (NSW RFS) Ian McBeth (Coulson Aviation - Montana) Paul Hudson (Coulson Aviation - Arizona) Rick DeMorgan Jr (Coulson Aviation - Florida) Today on International Firefighters Day (St Florian’s Day) we honour our firefighting colleagues worldwide for their service to their communities and remember those who have fallen in the line of duty. Volunteering and working to serve your community as a firefighter is a brave and generous act. Sadly this year we remember the nine firefighters lost during the catastrophic 2019/2020 Australian bushfire season. In Victoria, we acknowledge the wonderful work of our firefighting colleagues within CFA, and those from the MFB (Melbourne Metropolitan Fire Brigade) and Forest Fire Management Victoria. We also pause to honour the memory of the 79 CFA (Country Fire Authority) firefighters that have not come home, having lost their own lives while protecting the lives and property of others. We thank our own Leonards Hill volunteers, all the volunteers from the Glenlyon Group, and the families that support them, for their willingness to turn out at all hours of the day and night when the pager sounds. May those who never made it home continue to Rest In Peace having paid the ultimate price on the fireline - in our hearts and thoughts, and with our most grateful thanks for their service.

24.01.2022 An interesting article

23.01.2022 Please don’t fly your #drone in or anywhere near #bushfiresit could cost you up to $10,500. Creating a hazard to firefighting aircraft may also result in two years jail. If you fly, emergency services can’t, so #knowyourdrone and find out more: http://bit.ly/bushfires-stay-away

22.01.2022 7 February 2009 46.4C maximum temperature 173 lives lost 400+ fires 414 injured... 2,029 homes destroyed 7,567 people displaced 78 communities directly impacted 358 career firefighting personnel deployed 19,000+ CFA/FFMV members involved 450,000+ hectares burnt It was Black Saturday. Today we remember those that lost their lives, their homes, their properties, their loved ones, and their animals, and gratefully thank all those who worked tirelessly to bring an end to the devastation on that day, and in the immensely difficult days that followed. The people, communities and landscapes of Victoria were forever changed that day. We stand with those who with great hope and courage are still grieving and recovering, and acknowledge those who continue to work with affected individuals and communities. Together, we remember.

20.01.2022 A reminder that today is a day of Total Fire Ban Statewide for Monday 30 December 2019. The fire danger is going to be extreme today. Today's temperature will ...be around 37 with high winds and low relative humidity. This means that fires that start will become uncontrollable pretty quickly. For details of what you can and can't do on a Total Fire Ban day see https://bit.ly/2Z4JbYO

18.01.2022 THIS TREE FELL WEEKS AFTER THE FIRE WENT THROUGH Peter Rush lives in Mallacoota just near this tree. When he heard the crash he said it sounded like thunder. T...he tree had been smouldering since New Years Day. "Inside the tree was like a big oven," said Peter. Thanks Peter Rush for the photos.

18.01.2022 BE PREPARED THIS WEEKEND IN DAYLESFORD AND HEPBURN SPRINGS Ahead of a warm and busy holiday weekend in Daylesford and Hepburn Springs, the CFA has warned for lo...cals and residents to make sure they have a plan in case of a bushfire. "That area has been assessed as an extreme bushfire-risk area," said Neville Collins, Commander with the CFA Incident Control Centre. "People just do need to be mindful if they're going into locations, that they need to plan and be prepared." Because we’ve had a number of deployments recently to Gippsland and Wangaratta, you may not have a CFA or Forest Fire Management Victoria crew, appliance or truck to protect your property on days of extreme fire behaviour." If you're not sure what to do if a bushfire threatens, visit our website for advice: https://ab.co/2DDskE0

18.01.2022 We hear a lot about the CFA during the bushfires occurring and during previous fires. CFA aren’t the only fire fighters out there in the thick of things. Depart...ment of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) also known as Forest Fire Management Victoria (FFMV) and Parks Victoria play a major part in combating bushfires. These crews are also in the thick of things with their ability to rappel from helicopters into remote areas, walking into inaccessible areas to fight fires, supply of specialist machinery, skills and personnel. There is also many private companies supplying water trucks, graders, bulldozers, tractors excavators and other machinery. Today we pay tribute to those forgotten about, without these guys and girls we as a state would be in more trouble. General photos from google. Thank you. #CFA #FFMV #DELWP #PARKSVICTORIA #WEWORKASONE #TEAMWORK #VICEMERGENCY #EMV

17.01.2022 Today we remember the 75 lives that were lost during the Ash Wednesday bushfires in 1983. On February 16, 1983, more than 180 fires fanned by winds of up to 110... km/h caused widespread destruction across Victoria and South Australia. Years of severe drought and extreme weather combined to create one of Australia's worst fire days in a century. There were 13 CFA (Country Fire Authority) and 3 SA Country Fire Service volunteer fire-fighters who died that day. See more

16.01.2022 Many people have downloaded the Vic Emergency app which is great as people need to stay informed. However, this is also starting to cause problems. The Vic emer...gency app releases incident detaild as our CFA volunteers are paged. This means that people are being notified of an incident at about the same time we are. Recent incidents have attracted a lot of sightseers in their cars, on motorbikes or even on foot to see where the incident is and what is going on. We have had people try and stop CFA volunteers to find out what is going on whilst they are on their way and during incidents. Recently we had cars blocking the roads for trucks trying to get to the incident. Others even followed the trucks to see where they were going. We encourage as many people as possible to use the VicEmergency app to keep them informed, but please be aware that using the information to go and see what is going on can affect the CFA in performing our duty as quickly and efficiently as possible. There is the potential danger for an accident to happen when community vehicles get in the way of emergency vehicles.

15.01.2022 Our thoughts go out to the family and colleagues of the crew of the Large Air Tanker that has crashed in NSW today while on fire fighting operations.

12.01.2022 There is a significant incident near Cressy (west of Geelong), involving seven high voltage power transmission lines which have come down due to storm activity ...in the area. This incident may have an impact on Victoria's power supply as there is a high likelihood of power outages and load shedding. Current advice for all Victorians from the Australian Energy Operator is - *Turn off non-essential appliances including your washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher *Set your air conditioner to 23-26 degrees *Switch off your pool pumps If you have a critical need for electricity (eg. for medical equipment) please plan ahead now. 10.01.2022 Over the last two days, CFA Chief Officer Steve Warrington has been touring the East Gippsland area to better understand the situation on the ground and check i...n on our crews. The reality is devastating, but within the tragedy comes resilience from communities who have lost a lot, but still have so much to give. See more

03.01.2022 Our thoughts are with the families, friends and all members of Victoria Police during this difficult time. May they rest in peace.
