25.01.2022 Today is #ANewDay #January26. Yesterday we were #TuningInTogether to #ChangeTheHeart of Australia. As Common Grace we are led by Aboriginal and Torres Strait ...Islander Christian Leaders to pursue friendship and Reconciliation in our lifetime. This means stepping into #ANewDay with shared truth and open eyes, ears, minds, and hearts. We are excited to launch a collaboration of poetry and song created by Brooke Prentis and Helen Wright called "A New Day". It's a great way to start your #January26. "A New Day" was created as Brooke and Helen spent time together on country and reflects a journey of deep listening, learning, spiritual connection, hope, and of course friendship. It paints a vision of a future, for all of us in these lands we now call Australia, where we learn to draw on the olds ways, to learn a new way, to step into a new day, together. With thanks to Chris De Souza for producing this track and Biz Adams for creating this film clip. Looking for what else to do today? Check out our 10 ways to engage with #January26: https://www.commongrace.org.au/how_to_engage_in_jan_26

24.01.2022 Acceptance what does it mean? Acceptance doesn't mean you have to like your circumstances. It doesn't mean you aren't allowed to feel hurt or angry or sad.... It isn't giving up or no longer trying to better yourself or your situation. It means you stop trying to fight reality and control circumstances that you cannot actively change. It means giving yourself permission to feel what you feel and be where you are. This is where you are today. You won't necessarily be here forever. You might not always feel this way. But today, this is where you stand. And it's ok. Daniell Koepke Quest for Life Foundation

23.01.2022 Our scriptures this week, Matthew 18:10-20 and Romans 13:1-10, remind us that our theology, doctrines and attempts to follow the way of Jesus are summed up in a couple of lines. Love your neighbour as yourself. Love does no wrong to a neighbour; therefore, love is the fulfilling of the law. What do you think it looks like to love your neighbour as yourself? ... Pray about this and ask God to show you who you need to love and how you need to do it. Act on this and then reflect on the experience. How did it impact your relationship with that person? How did you feel afterwards?

21.01.2022 A group of us enjoyed a beautiful walk at Glenrock this afternoon, kicking off some new ministry for Glenrock Anglican coordinated by Greg and Janene. We set off in silence to focus on mindfulness and re-grouped (with social distancing) at the lookout to share our different experiences.

21.01.2022 Spiritual Practice this week God often uses desert or wilderness times in our lives to teach us about ourselves and to help us to grow beyond our own limitations. Jesus modelled that in his own desert experience. Remember a time when you have experienced a wilderness time. ... Reflect on what led up to that moment and how you felt at the time. What was the turning point that allowed you to move from feelings of despair or darkness to consolation and hope? How did the experience help you to grow spiritually?

20.01.2022 Welcome to Glenrock Anglican - formerly Charlestown Anglican - now based at St Martin’s Church in Kahibah. We look forward to keeping you posted on what’s going on in our community. While the doors of St Martin’s Church, Kahibah are still closed due to COVID 19 restrictions, you can join us for our weekly Sunday service on ZOOM. Contact Rev Tracey for details: [email protected]... We hope it won’t be long before our Kahibah Kids playgroup can meet again - follow on the Facebook page in the meantime for some fun kids craft ideas.

18.01.2022 This week we look at the set gospel reading Matthew 21: 23-32. Use the Lectio Divina method to read the passage: Read the passages below aloud. Notice what grabs your attention. Choose a word, sentence or paragraph that draws you or touched your heart in some way. ... How does it move you? Go back and read the scripture a second time. Pause again and notice what happens. What is God saying to you through this scripture? What response is it asking of you? Matthew 21: 23-32 23 When he entered the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him as he was teaching, and said, "By what authority are you doing these things, and who gave you this authority?" 24 Jesus said to them, "I will also ask you one question; if you tell me the answer, then I will also tell you by what authority I do these things. 25 Did the baptism of John come from heaven, or was it of human origin?" And they argued with one another, "If we say, 'From heaven,' he will say to us, 'Why then did you not believe him?' 26 But if we say, 'Of human origin,' we are afraid of the crowd; for all regard John as a prophet." 27 So they answered Jesus, "We do not know." And he said to them, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things. 28 "What do you think? A man had two sons; he went to the first and said, 'Son, go and work in the vineyard today.' 29 He answered, 'I will not'; but later he changed his mind and went. 30 The father went to the second and said the same; and he answered, 'I go, sir'; but he did not go. 31 Which of the two did the will of his father?" They said, "The first." Jesus said to them, "Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are going into the kingdom of God ahead of you. 32 For John came to you in the way of righteousness and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him; and even after you saw it, you did not change your minds and believe him. Spiritual Practice Jesus spent a lot of time challenging the religious leaders of his time about their failure to see God working beyond their own religious mindsets. In doing so they created artificial boundaries that separated and excluded people from God. It also prevented them from seeing God in their midst. We all do this in some way or another. This week spend some time reflecting on the mindsets and practices that separate you from God and others. When something comes to mind, offer it to God and ask that you be released from its power over you. Open your heart to receive God’s grace in a deeper way.

We then enjoyed afternoon tea together outside in the garden. Thank you to those who helped with the service, hospitality and clean-up. It wouldn’t be possible without you all!

16.01.2022 Soul Food: This week Rev Tracey was talking with another church leader about faith and how this is made real in our lives. He said it is no good simply believing things about the Christian Life, faith has to lead to real life experiences. Our spiritual practice this week is to reflect on how your belief in God has been lived out through real experiences. Think about how this has occurred through the different centres of the body: the head, the heart and the gut. What was this like?

02.01.2022 GLENROCK ANGLICAN: A Missional Church for the 21st Century Glenrock Anglican (formerly Parish of Charlestown) has been on a journey over many years. This culminated in the relocation from its much-loved base at St. Alban’s to St. Martin’s, Kahibah in April 2019. ... The parish had three locums in 2019 before the arrival of a new full-time Rector in October Rev Tracey Matthews. Despite the disruption of COVID, over the last twelve months, Rev Tracey and Parish Council have worked hard to create a, welcoming and vibrant community and move to digital forms of worship. Our change of name to Glenrock Anglican creates a new shared identity for the parish and reflects its broader geographical position. Our new logo draws inspiration from the stunning natural treasure trove of Glenrock Conservation Area and the vibrant community hub of Kahibah - from the Aboriginal word meaning a place for games or to be active and eager. The Tree of Life motif was chosen for its far reaching branches and deeply grounded roots, symbolising how faith, friendship, love and life are all interconnected and come together to create community, neighbourhood and shared life through Glenrock Anglican. After extensive renovations at 34 Hexham St, Kahibah, Glenrock Anglican will have its first service there on 31 January 2021 at 9am service. ALL WELCOME.

01.01.2022 God’s creation - so spectacular from sunrise to sunset. Have a great day!
