Whilst most of us are at home during this Covid-19 pandemic, we strongly encourage everyone to practice regular exercise at home. This can include mat-based pilates, regular short walks outdoors, or mindfulness and breathing exercises. If you have any queries or concerns regarding your exercise and rehabilitation at home, please feel free to talk to one of our physiotherapists via telehealth or face to face consult.

16.01.2022 FALLS PREVENTION PROGRAM at Glenroy Physio: Falls, trips and frequent near-misses can be a devastating event, resulting in serious injury and loss of quality of life, particularly for the elderly. Loss of balance may be related to changes in medication, incontinence, visual or vestibular (ear) disturbances, and loss of muscle strength and joint range of movement. Falls prevention programs including balance training, strengthening and proprioceptive exercises are important in... regaining confidence with safely completing activities around the house and community. Particularly for preventing serious hip or shoulder fractures, and early admission into residential aged-care facilities. Contact your physio at Glenroy to discuss a safe and specific falls prevention program and optimise your confidence with moving.

16.01.2022 August is Tradies National Health Month. Unfortunately, Tradies are overrepresented in workplace injuries, with the average time off work usually between 5 6 weeks. Your body is your most valuable tool in your toolkit! We encourage all tradies and their employers to focus on their health and safety. Here are some tips to help you feeling your fittest in your working day:... 1. Pace your workload and rate throughout the day to avoid issues related to overuse and fatigue 2. Dont put yourself at risk of injury by rushing your work And remember, seek advice from your physiotherapist if you experience any aches or pains that are persistent. Its better to manage it early rather than waiting till its bad enough to stop you from working. Thank you to all our Tradies in the community, and all the work you do. #choosephysio Source: Australian Physiotherapy Association

09.01.2022 STAGE 4 UPDATE: The State Government has ruled that during Stage 4, all Allied Health, including Physiotherapy, can only treat URGENT cases, that if otherwise left untreated, would likely result in a significant change or deterioration in function and in an escalation of care, and would require: 1. attending an emergency department or needing hospitalisation 2. requiring medical specialist intervention... 3. requiring an increased in care needs or alternate accommodation If you do experience an injury during this time, please call us and dont delay your treatment. Telehealth consults are available and are highly effective. Face-to-face consults are available if deemed necessary. We would like to thank our community for your patience and understanding. May you all stay healthy and safe during these next few weeks. Team GPC
