23.01.2022 ROUND 14 WRAP The last round of the home-and-away season was another good one, with four sides bringing home wins to head into the finals with momentum. The Walshe & Whitelock 1st XI took on Monash at Carlson and posted an excellent 6/239, with Jot Singh (94) and Leigh Murphy continuing their strong form. Skipper Damien Sheean and Dilhan Rahubadde then ran through them with three wickets apiece to bowl them out for 89.... The Life Members 2nd XI hosted Boroondara and dismissed them for 135, thanks to Nick Chapman's 5/12. Manny Coomaraswamy's 57 was the cornerstone of the chase and we got over the line six down with just four balls left. The OCs 3rd XI had a rare poor outing in a dead rubber against Clifton Hill, conceding 4/219 then falling to 79 all out in replyJeremy Mekhael was the best of the batsmen with 22. Nonetheless we have done enough to finish second and will look forward to a rematch this week on our own turf. The Harcourts Judd White 4th XI piled on a monster 5/321 against Boroondara, with 50s to Faisal Qureshi, Derek Brett and Preetam Ghogale. We bowled just as well to roll them for 122Stewart Matthewson and Sean Dempsey both taking 2/16to secure the minor premiership. The Ellis Network Associates 5th XI tackled top-of-the-table North Balwyn and restricted them to 4/139, with Phil Rees (2/10) the pick of the bowlers. Phil backed up with 41, combining with Tushar Bagal (52*) to reel them in three down with four overs to spare, earning third spot and a rematch in this week's semi final. The Bunnings Notting Hill 6th XI were up against Glen Iris and conceded 6/193, with David Foley the only multiple wicket-taker. We were all out for 69 in reply, Irshad Kamardeen's 23 the top score. The Westato 7th XI unfortunately also had a tough day to round out the season, struggling along to 8/66 against Burwood Uniting Canterbury. They took just seven overs to chase us down, not losing a wicket in the process. Congratulations to the top five sides for all making the finalsplease get down and support this week!

16.01.2022 ROUND 1 WRAP After eight long months, cricket season is finally backand the seniors got off to a solid start with four wins. Leigh Murphy marked his return with a brilliant 133*, combining with Jot Singh's 88* to launch the 1s to a huge 3/282. We then bowled out Toorak-Prahran for 105, with Jot taking three and Dilhan Rahubadde four, to get our season off to the best possible start.... The 2s also had a solid win, bowling out Northcote United at home for 94 with the wickets shared. Dean Siakoulis top-scored with an unbeaten 29 in the chase as we coasted home three down with 11 overs left. The 3rd XI took on Trinity Willison on Sunday and set a solid 196, thanks to 76 not out from Ben McLoughlin. Unfortunately we couldn't mount enough pressure with the ball and they passed us six down in the second-last over. The 4s had a shootout against Melbourne Deaf, as 50s to Errol Fernando, Maruf Ahmed and Anand Wadhwa propelled us to 9/231. Three wickets each to Michael Adams and Stewart Matthewson saw us narrowly over the line, dismissing them for 217. The 5th XI struggled a bit with the bat, posting 9/88 from our overs against Manningham. Prabal Soans' 3/21 helped us back into the game, but they were able to rein in our score in the 33rd over, six down. The 6s faced a tough chase of 175, despite Chris Stocks claiming 3/25 (including his 250th career wicket). However, Justin Roy (50*) and Yasser Korbatieh (46) set us up well, and we finished the job in the second-last over.

14.01.2022 ROUND 5 WRAP The 1s and 4s maintained their perfect records, while the 3s and 5s also added wins in another solid round of results. The Walshe & Whitelock 1st XI hosted the Cougars and bowled them out for 117, with Travis Johnson picking up four wickets and Jot Singh three. Declan Foley's 52 saw us home by seven wickets for the third week in a row, with nearly nine overs left.... The Life Members 2nd XI were away to the same opponent and were set 194Michael Adams bowled superbly to take 5/26. Jake McLoughlin made an excellent 77 but didn't have enough support, and we were all out for 149 for our first loss of the season. The OCs 3rd XI took on Monash at Lum and put up a very healthy 5/263, thanks to 67* from Gary Hansen and 50s to Troy Denyer and David Kemp. Jack Pearce (2/10) was pick of the bowlers as we held them to 9/165, making it four wins in a row. The Harcourts Judd White 4th XI continued their runs spree, racking up 237 against Clifton HillPreetam Ghogale (61*), Faisal Qureshi (54) and Jason Worthington (46) were among the runs. They gave us a late scare, but we did enough to keep them to 9/230 to move two games clear on top. The Ellis Network Associates 5th XI posted 2/217 against Monash, with three more 50s to Derek Brett, Ian Mallett and Niraj Patel. Ryan Prowd took three early wickets to kill the contest, and they batted their overs for a tame 4/109. The Bunnings Notting Hill 6th XI were up against Richmond Union and restricted them to 7/125. Giri Kaliyamurthy made 23 but we again struggled with the bat to finish on 8/91. The Westato 7th XI hosted Toorak-Prahran on Sunday and they posted 4/133 from their 35. Unfortunately we couldn't replicate last week's chase of a similar total and were all out for 92.
